Are you a beginner, intermediate or advanced drum-set player interested in learning how to keep a beat, how to set-up a drum-set, how to tune drums, how to play fills...actually you're here because you want to be a Rockstar, don't you? Ah. I see. This should be easy then.
I started playing drum-set professionally as a freshmen in high school and have never stopped. It was my first true love, and my way into my own musical voice. I also sing while performing drums, so if that's something you're interested in getting better at I have plenty of experience to help you lead from behind the set.
Whether you are planning on joining/starting a band, using it as accompaniment to someone else, or just want to learn for fun as a hobby, I can teach you all you need to know to meet your Rockstar drummer potential! If you have any questions, please message me!

You've got to walk before you can run, so I focus on the basics. But, the basics can be a lot of fun! Especially once we start to apply them to your favorite songs, and being creative with them - that's kind of what it's all about!
About Mike
Learning to play an instrument is a mixture of a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work. My strength is finding what will inspire my students to WANT to put in those difficult hours of practice, and then showing them how to apply what they have learned in a creative way, so that they experience the fu

I've been teaching drums to students of all ages since 2004. I'm available for lessons at my home studio or your house, and I'm great with kids, however I ask that your child is at least 6 years old. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play basic drum beats and play along to some of your favorite songs. At the same time, we'll work on good drumming technique, note reading, developing good timing, and more. I'm a very patient and positive teacher and would be excited to hear from you! I pride myself on having long-term student retention. :)

She has a lot of positivity and good naturedness, easy to relate to. She also was able to come up with some good ideas for how to improve some of my playing.
I look forward to my next lesson!

I have a 100% rate of getting my students into their school of choice as of yet. Although I don't guarantee it, I will work relentlessly to make sure you are well prepared though. I will also lend you PDFs of books to help you save a buck.
About Scott
I have been playing drums and percussion since the ripe old age of 9, in 4th grade. Originally wanting to play the clarinet, my music teacher thought my sense of rhythm was too good to waste and placed me in the drum section. I was the only kid who didn't want to play drums. Over twenty years later

Find the voice of any drum and make it sing. Students of every level benefit from rhythmic breath and speaking the words of the rhythms. Beginners will find the sounds of the drum, learn the language used to explain patterns, and quickly memorize rhythms by name. Everybody learns differently, we will write, speak, feel, or clown around until you fully grasp the rhythm. Intermediate and advanced students will benefit from a variety of techniques from around the world to employ to make even familiar patterns sound fresh.
About Peter
I am a student of various great drum teachers from many backgrounds. Experienced players enjoy jamming with me, but I have been told that I am especially gifted at helping beginners feel comfortable finding rhythms and sounds out of any instrument, including the human body. Rhythmic breathing is ma

Super chill guy, and I’m sure he’s great for every skill level and age. Thanks Kevin, will be back soon for follow up sessions!"

I'm a 37-year-old drum student and I find this class very well organized. Mike comes to class very well prepared for each lesson and I don't feel that he goes too fast or too slow. The speed of the lesson is just perfect! I like being challenged and he does just that. At our 7th lesson, we started learning a song from my fave band, Guns n' Roses, and we're having so much fun!
I like very much that he has his own lessons printed for me to take home and practice. He is very good at writing down the "homework" for the week, which is pretty much what he feels I should practice on from what we have learned during the lesson. Everything he teaches prepares me for the next lesson.
In addition, one great thing about his studio is that I get to play on actual drums while he sits at another drum set in front of me, and via microphone and headsets, he teaches me the patterns. He is very enthusiastic about each lesson and I go home wanting to go straight to my drums and practice! No matter how tired I may be after a long day of work.
In every single aspect, the quality of instruction is excellent! I'm very glad to have found Mike on TakeLessons.com."

Ed is pretty cool and an awesome teacher! I've been taking lessons since 7th grade. I'm now in high school and still love playing drums, thanks to Ed. I give him 5 stars!"
