Great drum teacher. I studied with Richard about a year. I had played before, but Richard helped me build a better drumming foundation and guided me to me play better.
I now am able to play in a cover band and use some of the concepts and techniques that I learned from my lessons with him.
I highly recommend Richard for drum lessons.

My 12 year old son took lessons with Richard for 2 years in Antlanta. He is a very friendly and patient teacher. I was amazed how quickly my son progressed within a short period of time. He is now playing in his first band. Unfortunately we had to move out of state and my son truly misses his lessons with Richard, especially because Richard made it always fun. If you are looking for a drum teacher, who can bring the best out of your child, then Richard is the guy for the job!

From the beginning I have felt that Alex is very invested in my success and like every great teacher, he challenges me. Alex's teaching style is a combination of teaching, observing and correcting technique, addressing mindset (really important), and wanting the student to feel the joy of discovering how to play real songs with every lesson. He is patient and encouraging, with just the right word at the right time. Combined with his vast knowledge of music, lessons and homework are packed with useful info that is broken down in a way that’s easy to understand. He also demonstrates how everything is applied through multiple musical styles,, so you can get a sense of the potential of your own playing in the future while broadening your musical horizons, which is a bonus.. You will get out of it only what you put into it, so regular practice is key otherwise it's easy to get behind. But Alex will adjust if something is not working, which is very motivating. Great teacher. Recommend 100%.

I am a sax player and amateur drum enthusiast. Scott and I toured for a few years together.
He was always figuring things out in the van with his trusty air drumset. When he could finally sit down at his set, he would pretty much have the idea figured out and ready to apply to reality.
We would talk endlessly about various drum and rhythm topics and he very effortlessly talked me through techniques and ideas. I’ve learned a great deal from him.
On top of that, he is one of the kindest and most compassionate people I’ve ever met.
There’s a fire inside of him and it comes out through his playing and interpersonal relationships in a beautiful way.

Scott is an enthusiastic and gifted music teacher´┐╝ with a wealth of experience that he generously shares.
We were looking for a flexible, knowledgeable, yet reliable teacher who would inspire our son to grow his own musical talent. We were blessed to find Scott, who fit those roles wonderfully. Our son enjoyed and benefited from the interactions with Scott. We recommend him without a doubt.

Scott is an incredibly knowledgeable drummer. He possesses a wealth of wisdom on the drums that he has gained through years of professional gigging experience "on the front lines" so to speak. A kind hearted fellow who's love of music comes through in everything he does. He can help you be a better musician; he can help you be a better person.

"Keith is a drummers, drummer. Aside from being an exceptional drum instructor, he has LOADS of touring experience, professionally recorded, numerous workings with "Big Names" in the music industry, and not to mention the grammy's are quite impressive :-)
Keith not only taught me how to read drum music, but he encouraged me relentlessly when it sometimes became challenging, as things worth while often are.
He explained the ever important role of 'time management' in music and how it not only affects music, but also that it affects every aspect of our lives.
Keith has been a mentor and also a friend. As a person with my own successes in the industry, I have found a profound inspiration from Keith. I cherish our 30 min together and wouldn't trade them for anything. I highly recommend Keith as a drum teacher for ALL ages."

"A good musician is not necessarily a good teacher. Most musicians do not know how to teach, period.

A good music teacher not only knows how to perform on his/instrument well but knows the art and technique of imparting the knowledge. Those are two totally different skills.

Ray is one of those rare guys to come around who has both skill well developed: he is a great musician, a great pro drummer who knows how to put himself in the student's shoes and thus can impart to the student exactly what the student needs in order to make progress.

Add to that a great positive personality and passion to boot and you have a great teacher and mentor.

I took "Advanced Drum Chart Reading" lessons and "Group Performance Workshops" classes from Ray at Cornel School of Contemporary Music and I am continuing studying with him after my graduation. I highly recommend him."

Drum Kit Basics: Introduction to Types of Drums

Thinking about learning how to play the drums? As with any new musician, getting to know your instrument is essential to your progress and success. For drummers in particular, it’s not just one instrument - it’s a whole set! The typical five-piece drum kit is the most traditional, although there are many variations to it that more advanced players can create. The types of drums you should be familiar with, however, are: The snare The bass drum or kick drum The rack toms …
