Snare Drum instruction....I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for many of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. Other excellent methods are the Ed Sueta Book, Rubank Method, Breeze Easy, Achievement in Excellence, and perhaps the First Division Method Book. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method. I always play my instrument along with the student so that he/she can hear how the music is supposed to be played in regards to the notes as well as the rhythm! This way, we all have fun learning!

I took lessons with Aya when I was in high school 13 years ago. She was very inspiring and because of her I decided to major in Music. I’m currently finishing my doctorate in Music and I am much indebted to her for exposing me to such a high level of artistry and instilling me with so much confidence at such a young age. I have very fond memories of Aya’s wonderful teaching.

I used to take lessons with her when I was in high school. Because of her, I got in the all state band two years in a row and I had a blast.

We will develop solid time, technique, reading, and rudiments. To foster musicality we will focus on critical listening . We will focus on effective practicing to maximize our efforts. We will learn to apply rudiments and stickings around the drums for interesting and dynamic fills. We will play together to focus on listening and ensemble skills. We also have the ability to record our lessons for later review.

About Aaron

In a fun and engaging atmosphere we will develop the tools of musicality. I'm as comfortable with an absolute beginner as an advanced student. I've been a professional drummer and keyboardist for 17 years. The last 13 of these have been touring with Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus.

I like to teach with music, meaning we start by choosing the students favorite song and building slowly in level of difficulty. As they progress we play beats and learn fills. Later we get into reading and writing drum notes. Then we explore different genres, and styles of playing. This way the student can aim to play any song at-least 4-5 ways depending on what is required and what style and flavor they want to incorporate in their performance. For Advanced students we learn to jam with other instrumentalists, and write our own drum beats. Just like a pianist would learn to compose a melody, my drum students can learn to compose their own drum beats like all great drummers do. And finally the most advanced student can learn to manage the rhythm of a song, not only the drums but also the other instruments.
Any level of student can expect to learn the necessary rudiments, beats, fills to have a vast and deep repertoire. Also I strive to teach the art of freestyling which is the ...

About Shiv

I've been playing since I was 6 years old, so I understand the difficulty of learning drums, but it. doesn't have to be boring. I like to teach with the student's favorite songs, and break them down into simple levels. And as we learn new concepts we can play their song with a more complex rhythm,

Shiv is a great teacher, he is practical, uses songs to get you started and keep you interested in learning drums. He is young and has been learning music from very young age. It is relief for me when i go to drums classes as it clears my mind away from daily grind.

My son took drum lessons from Shiv for a short time. Shiv really connected with my son and sparked an interest by starting with my son’s favorite songs. We could not continue due to conflict of timings.

Shiv has been teaching our son since he was 6yrs old and although he’s young, he’s great with connecting with the students and explaining things to help you understand. My son really enjoys his lessons & we highly recommend Shiv. He has a passion for music & tracing and he’s really good at it.

Great at making sure you understand the basics of music theory before proceeding to the instrument itself. Helping me become a more confident and smarter musician.
Francine D.
I've taken lessons before and have always become disappointed because there was never any structure to the lessons and theory was treated as secondary. I wanted to really delve into theory because that is the knowledge needed to have no limits. Finally, I found Jimmy. He is a true teacher. Jimmy makes sure he teaches you the theory behind what you are doing. I have been playing for over ten years and was not progressing. After just a few lessons with him, I am starting to truly see the fretboard. I am finally excited again!

"Mike Enriquez has been our son’s drum teacher over the past few years. In addition to helping introduce our grade school kid to the sweet, sweet sounds of Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes and AC/DC, Mike has introduced my son to the idea of putting in time and effort to achieving goals.

We love the respect and sometimes superhuman patience Mike shows our son. He seems committed to the process of learning rather than the result. It’s an important distinction and we feel extremely fortunate to have found Mike.

Mike sets realistic expectations tailored to our kid, but the main focus is the love of the instrument rather than some cookie-cutter formula. If Duncan is having an off day, Mike takes it from where he is with no badgering or haranguing.

I’d recommend him to anyone looking to learn to play drums. Even if you’re an adult. He’s a great teacher.”

Can't say often enough how lucky we are to have Jesse found as the drums and guitar teacher of my two sons. You can tell that he lives for music and it's not just a job for him teaching students. He is determined but patient with the kids and really has educational skills. Furthermore he is absolute reliable and committed. Our 8 Best Tips for Effective Drum Practice

What’s more important: the amount of drum practice you do, or the quality of the  practice? Although you might be tempted to lock yourself in your room for a week to goof around on the drums, studies have shown that the amount of practice isn’t always an indicator of outstanding drumming performance. Rather, drummers who employ long practice sessions of average quality will never perform at high level. And high-quality practice over short periods of time won’t help drummers achieve the re …
