While I am not the best with the slide, the trombone is similar to the other brass instruments in every other way, and playing trombone is also a strength of mine. I have had 4 years of playing/teaching experience on Trombone.

Chris taught one lesson to my son, then he cancelled the following week's lesson and never returned numerous phone calls, emails, and text messages. He didn't respond, then the following week at our next scheduled instruction he called me 30 mins before the lesson asking if he could move the date.

Needless to say, it was very unprofessional of him, and we intended to end our relationship with him as my son's instructor.

The thing got worse when he proceeded to schedule my son for a weekly reoccurring lesson for the next year. I've had to manually cancel each lesson, at least until Jan 2015.

I would strongly warn you against signing up with Chris if you expect an instructor who is reliable and responsive to your communications. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but the other problem is that this was my son's first experience to music lessons, so it was a bad first experience.

We're giving 3 out of 5 stars since that seems fair. With regards to the lessons themselves, Chris certainly met our expectations with our son's violin lessons. However, with regards to communications and scheduling, it could have been much better. More than once my son was waiting on Skype after receiving the "You have upcoming lessons" email from TakeLessons. Chris needs to learn how to cancel the lessons ahead of time. He rarely responded to emails (was trying to get him to stop showing our email openly to all his other students, really needs to learn how to use BCC). He never returned phone calls. Due to the canceled lessons, our TakeLesson pay date came prematurely, and since I waited until our son's paid lessons were completed before paying for new ones, we got dropped from the schedule and lost our time slot. Too many frustrations led to finding a new teacher.

I teach a well structures journey into learning this wonderful expressive and fun instrument. All aspects of the rudiments of the instruments are covered and beginning students will follow their progress through a method book and several additions to learn the musical language and the instrument.

About Steve
I am a Musical Director who has scored original music for many motion pictures and television and was musical arranger for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. I've scored and arranged original music for several television shows including, Desperate Housewives, MTV's Making the Band, It's Showtime at the Apollo and numerous series on PBS, A & E and Disney, . I have also served as on-set vocal and piano coach for many Disney TV series.

As a piano instructor, I believe in giving every student a foundation in classical music.. I enjoy teaching and playing Jazz and pop as well.

I've worked with students ages 5-90. I simply love the teaching process and respect every student's journey. Mixing structure and discipline with a positive teaching style, I work to inspire students to be their best within a well structured curriculum that is fu
n and engaging.

Music must be fun...always!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students see progress. I don't believe in cookie-cutter instruction. I take the time to learn a students individual comprehension of the musical language and their learning style. I also build a practice schedule that is realistic and creates growth. Music instruction should not feel like a burden, but should be joyful. It's a process I have respected. Whether you are 90 or 9, you can learn music, love music and feel its presence by playing an instrument or singing. My job is to communicate that joy and show you how you can do it for yourself.

Learning to master a musical instrument is a two way commitment and I will always give you my full effort as I love the results.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a digital upright piano for piano and vocal instruction.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide the lesson material and help students with purchasing the right method books.

*** Specialties ***
For beginning Piano-Intermediate, I have embraced the James Bastien series, as I believe it paces the young student and builds a foundation on a musical and pedagogical level.
Vocally, I follow a classical technique, but use that foundation as a basis to meet the goals of the singer for the style they want to achieve.

The goal of my lessons is to create a well-rounded musician. In my opinion, one of the best ways for this to happen is to make sure the student has a solid foundation. This includes learning all scales, an understanding of trombone-specific techniques and knowing how to apply these skills in a musical setting.

About PAUL
Hi! My name is Paul. I graduated in 2016 from Arizona State University with my Master of Music in Performance. I am currently in the second year of my Doctor of Music Arts program in performance, also at Arizona State University.

As an educator, I have several years of teaching in a private setting. I also have experience working in public schools for short, one-on-one lessons and larger master classes on trombone. I have worked with beginners that are completely new to the instrument to freshman and sophomore college students. I also have experience as a teaching assistant for music theory (University of Idaho).

I have a wide array of performance experience. I was a tenured member of the Washington-Idaho Symphony on bass trombone for five years. I left to pursue my Masters degree from ASU. Other orchestral experience includes sev
eral Summer Pops concerts with the Great Falls Symphony, some featured artists such as Kansas and Charlie Daniels. I have spent several years playing in jazz bands, Jazz I from the University of Idaho and Concert Jazz Band from ASU. In the spring of 2016, I performed with ASU's Concert Jazz Band at Highland Jazz Festival where we featured Wayne Bergeron and Andy Martin. Recent performances include Salt River Brass' " Made in America" program featuring trumpet soloist Rex Richardson, Phoenix Theatre's run of "Bullets Over Broadway.", and performing with and conducting the Arizona State University Trombone Ensemble at the 2017 International Trombone Festival. In December 2017, I made my solo debut, performing with Salt River Brass.

I could tell Paul definitely knew all the tiny details about mastering the trombone since the first lesson. He recognized what I needed to improve upon in order to reach my goals in a timely manner, armed me with the tools to do so, and I have no doubt that I will achieve those goals as the lessons progress.

If you are looking to take your tombone playing to the next level, you came to the right place. I'm a classical trombonist by training and reached out for help with jazz theory and playing. Billy was an amazing resource who helped me develop concrete playing and practicing skills and become a more confident improviser. He was extremely patient and thorough and took extra time to make sure things would stick. Highly recommended!

I played the trombone when I was a kid but lost interest back then. After not playing for about 15 years Billy helped me to get back to it. We covered reading notes, learning a little bit about music theory (keys etc) and of course playing. I wanted to practice with some songs I like and Billy was able to write the notes down for me. This was super helpful and really made me enjoy playing the trombone again! We practiced in a room in the New School, which was cool since I could play as loud as I wanted, compared to back at home where I usually use a mute. He was very patient and friendly and I can highly recommend him as a teacher.

The Trombone is the single most powerful acoustic instrument in terms of size and efficiency. The thing's a cannon, and one just has to know how to use it right. My lessons will focus on enriching tone, increasing lung capacity, improving slide dexterity, strengthening embouchure, sharpening intonation (pun intended) and having fun with the mightiest of all wind instruments.

About Kenny
I am a professional working musician and a licensed K-12 instructor in the State of Louisiana, having graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelors of Music Education, with a Minor in Jazz Studies in the spring of 2016. I play the guitar (electric, steel/ nylon string acoustic), the trombone (tenor/ bass), and the drums (kit).
Guitar students can and should expect to improve in some facet every week after every lesson. Every person approaches music differently, and thereby, approaches the guitar differently. Different bodies mean different physical methods for successful playing. Different brains mean different musical realities- and whatever the state of yours is, I want to help you make it better.
There are so many different ways to be musical, and as your teacher I want to make you aware of them, and help you use every
tool in your toolbox, as well as give you some new ones. Music is not too vast to understand, and all it takes is one little push to be off on your way, making your own musical adventures.
As someone who has thrived in most ensemble scenarios from Concert Bands, Orchestras, Big Bands, to Rock Bands and Jazz Combos, I can help prepare you for any musical undertaking. I love students who love music and want to get better at it, regardless of what style it might be in.
So whoever you are, whatever you like, and wherever your skills are at, I want to help- to impart you with skills and knowledge you might need to play at the level you want. I look forward to meeting you and helping you be even more awesome!

Students can be expected to play not just repertoire provided from their school but also assignments given by me. I enjoy teaching to better my Students musicianship not just to get in to region band or get Superior ratings at solo and ensemble. Bettering ones musicianship will almost certainly lead to these things however.

About Jeremy
I am a college student working towards my music education degree. Helping students achieve their musical goals has always been extremely important to me. When I teach I prefer to focus on expanding a Student's musical ability rather than focus on a specific piece, however if there is a piece a student wants to learn I will surely be very willing to help.

I took Trumpet and Flugelhorn lessons from Christopher for four years. What I appreciated most about Christopher was his patience. It can be very challenging to learn Trumpet and Flugelhorn however, Christopher taught the lessons in a way that was easy to understand. He took the time to explore what my difficulties were. He then would present me with ways to challenge them. Christopher also has a great understanding of music theory. He explains and demonstrates musical concepts very thoroughly. I highly recommend Christopher Ward.

Students can expect to develop a strong foundation in trombone method. Students will learn how to read music, proper way to make a sound, proper breathing techniques, and simple melodies suitable for beginners. As the student becomes more comfortable, they will be challenged to play more challenging music that pushes the limits of their dexterity.

About Kenneth
It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13.

Along the way I have had the honor of meeting and learning from respected musicians such as Lawrence Jackson (former director of SU Bands), Herman Jackson (Brother of Randy Jackson), Jerry Lee Lane (Marching percussion pioneer) and countless others.

As a drummer that has played in all kinds of styles and venues, I can teach any skill level from the first time picking up sticks to making good drummers great and great drummers legendary.

Using my experience as a school band director (4 years), I
will come up with a customized lesson plan for each of my students that will stay on the best possible path to success. It is also because of this experience that I am also able to teach all concert/jazz band instrument method (ex. trumpet, flute, electric bass, etc.)

I have been involved in music since I was about 8 years old. I began by taking drum lessons and my teacher inspired me to always go above and beyond when it comes to your instrument. It is my hope that I can bring that same enthusiasm and inspire future students the same way.

My students will learn how to sight read music, which will boost their confidence in all playing situations. As a result, they will enjoy playing their instruments more. They will develop the ability to play in orchestras and big bands.

About Jeffrey
I am a freelance trombonist in the Hartford, CT area. I play with several community groups and perform some professional concerts regularly as well. Most notably, right now I am principal trombonist with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale, 1st trombonist with Capitol Symphonic Winds at the Hartt School of Music and 2nd trombonist with the Thomaston Jazz Orchestra. In the past I have performed with the Hartford Jazz Orchestra at the Arch Street Tavern and the Danbury Brass Band. In addition to the trombone I also play tuba and euphonium.

I have taught trombone and euphonium lessons since becoming a music performance student at Central Connecticut State University in 1996. I have taught students between the ages of 5 and 18 over the past twenty years, with several of my high school students qualifying for All-Regionals and Al
