Trombone is my primary focus. I have been playing for 15+ years and have spent my life figuring out how to teach myself to play it better every day.

About William
William C. is currently a freelance trombonist, teacher, and arranger based in Denver, CO. This fall, he has started doctoral work at the University of Colorado - Boulder. He completed the bachelor’s degree in music education and performance at Texas Tech University, and the Master’s in trombone performance, and a Performer’s Certificate, at the University of Denver. His extensive resume a wide variety of concerts, clinics, master-classes, performances, and recording sessions; most notably: the TTU Vernacular Music Center, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, Colorado Wind Ensemble, Denver Municipal Band, Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. Mr. C. has taught all ages of students on trombone, euphonium, tuba, and chamber ensembles for 6 years. He was the brass section leader for the world premiere of the full-length
theatrical dance show Dancing at the Crossroads and his arrangements have been played by chamber groups throughout northern Colorado.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are geared towards a set of goals that are created between the student's wants and my expectations for them to be successful at what the student wants to achieve. For each student, I use a different set of pedagogical tools designed to get them to the goals they want. The main goal I have for all my students is that their fundamentals on their instrument will be at the level that they can complete their goals with ease. Over their time with me, they will have the skills to coach themselves when they practice and tackle any music they come across.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect them to provide and music stand and their music. These are both things that they need to have at their home for practice.

*** Specialties ***
I teach and perform both jazz and classical music. Almost any style that uses a trombone or brass instruments, I have performed in and have a strong foundation in.

I am former music major and long time amateur trombonist and was looking for someone to help bring my playing (back) up to the next level. Bill has been amazing at being able to spot areas for improvement and clearly provide several suggestions and approaches to correct them. Very pleased and highly recommend!

Bill is a stand-up guy. My 11-yr-old beginner daughter is happy with her lessons so far and he interacts with me in a friendly and polite manner. He is respectful of our time and does what he says he's going to do. Can't ask for much more. We are looking forward to a summer of trombone lessons with him.

I'm a very flexible teacher. Whatever you feel that you need to work on, we will work on. Currently, I am taking lessons from Steve Turre at Juilliard. He has performed with many jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Shaw, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, and J.J. Johnson. If you're interested, I wouldn't mind teaching you some of the things I am learning here at Juilliard.

(Travelling will incur an extra fee.)

About Jeffery
Hi there! I am a 22-year-old trombonist and singer from New Orleans, LA. I graduated from The Juilliard School with my Bachelor's in Jazz Studies in May 2018, and I am returning to Juilliard to pursue my Master's. You can catch me working a LOT in the NY area as both a sideman and a leader of my own quintet.

I also play euphonium, tuba and some piano. I've performed/recorded with Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Mac Miller, John Legend, Solange, Jon Batiste, and more. I have studied privately/have great relationships with world-renowned trombonists such as Steve Turre, Joe Alessi, Elliot Mason, Delfeayo Marsalis and Wycliffe Gordon. I would be more than happy to share with you what I have learned (and continue to learn) from such amazing players.

It would be my pleasure to help you increase your musicianship! A
ll I ask is that you be honest with me as well as yourself. I love to learn equally as much as I love to teach, so book a lesson! (Ask about my group lesson rates, those are always a lot of fun too!) Let's learn from each other!

ALL AGES WELCOME!
Students will be taught how to create a relationship with the the trombone and allow it to become a vehicle for there own creativity. Through teachings of tension free and relaxed technique I hope to bring the student to become magicians of the instrument so that the magic of making music becomes reality.

About Abdulrahman
Hello! I am a trombonist, educator, composer, and producer. I started learning music when I was in middle school and have adopted it as my lifestyle. I spent most of my initial studies under the wing of Weston Sprott; Principal trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera. Now, I am a full scholarship graduating student of the Manhattan School of Music and a full time member of the 6 time Grammy winning Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble led by maestro Arturo O' Farill. Support also comes to me from my sponsors/endorsers Antoine Courtois. I perform at venues all over NYC both as a sideman and a band leader! Music is a gift and it is meant to be shared! I hope that I could have the honor of sharing that with you and that we may grow together.

Hello! Through my four years at the Juilliard School I have taken lessons with some of the worlds most prominent trombonists, including Elliot Mason, Steve Turre and Joe Alessi. In addition, I have a vast experience of teaching both classical and jazz students. I've created my own general lesson plan comprised of exercises I have received from these world renown teachers, as well as from other working professionals in NY.

I'm very quick to notice your skill level and create a cohesive, unique lesson plan catered to working on your weaknesses and polishing your strengths! A mediocre teacher will simply give you default exercises to work on-- a task better left to google. A good teacher, however, can diagnose a student and find the most efficient way for he/she to improve.

I promise to be a caring, fun, informative teacher. Please contact me for more information about my lessons.

Teaching is my biggest passion, I can't wait to work with you!
Happy practicin'!

--Songwriting (any instrument, beginning to advanced)

--Piano lessons (beginning to intermediate)

*Since I charge the same rate for each of these subjects, many of my students request to split the lesson time into 2 or more subjects

My skype lesson with Sam was one of the most insightful musical experiences I've had in regards to educating myself about the craft of trombone playing. Not only is his remarkable prowess at the instrument itself apparent but his knowledge of musical harmony and overall artistry allows all of his expert advice to come full circle and become even more impactful. His teaching style was incredibly supportive and effective and with clear and concise input I feel like I can very easily implement the information he gave me into my own playing. From the nuances of trombone technique to the intricacies of complex musical harmonies and progressions, Sam is more than capable of instructing students of all ages and skill levels. I would absolutely recommend Sam to anybody who wants to study music/trombone seriously or even is just getting started and wants to build a strong foundation. I can't wait until my next online lesson!

Let's have fun and rock out! These are the standards by which I measure my own success both on the stage as a professional musician and as an educator in the classroom. The notes on the page aren't going anywhere and they'll still be there to practice for next week if more study time is needed. We'll instead spend the bulk of our time learning how to speak the language of music and how to communicate with others through improvisation. Developing technique, embouchure, style, posture, and other fundamentals will help us to become masters of our instrument and speak more fluently. If we're able to jam out on our own creative musical ideas and share them with others while having fun then our time together was a success.

About Michael
I believe that we can come together and use community music as a vehicle to address some of the global challenges that we’re facing today. Every single person in the world deserves to be treated with respect, kindness, laughter and love. Art shows us all of the good that humans are capable of and we can move forward through divisive times. It's up to all of us to do a better job communicating, collaborating, and educating each other. The arts should be a safe space with an equal platform available to all for sharing ideas and I've committed my life to making the world a better place through music.

I received my bachelor's degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2013. Since then, I have been one of the founding members of a 27 piece punk/funk brass band out of Lowell, MA known as "The Party Band"
as well as a 9 piece funk cover band out of Boston, MA called "PK and the Mighty Seven." When I'm not practicing, freelancing, or teaching I enjoy hanging out on the porch with the neighborhood cats.

As a performer with the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble, Indianapolis Wind Symphony, and the Indiana University Symphonic Band, I have extensive performance experience as an ensemble player and as a soloist. I am familiar with the common repertoire of trombone music/etudes, and can assist students with anything from supplemental lessons to their curricular music program all the way to college audition prep.

About Chris
Originally from Bloomington, IN, I've worked as a music instructor and professional musician for over 8 years. I love being involved in all aspects of the music industry, whether it's writing, teaching, arranging, performing, recording, producing, or promoting.

I have taught over 50 students in the 6 years I've been teaching, and have had several of those students go on to become music majors in college. My focus as an educator is to establish fundamentals and vitally important techniques as effectively and quickly as possible with my students. Then, it becomes more enjoyable and sustainable to begin making great music (all the while incorporating those important aspects of being a musician!).

My primary instruments are drums, saxophone, and euphonium. However, I am proficient and frequently perform on trombone, clarinet, bass, g
uitar, and many other instruments. I enjoy playing jazz and classical music the most, but have performed professionally with groups of just about every popular genre! My musical interests have no bounds, and I believe that all music has something great to offer.

So, let's get started: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, we can begin rapidly building your musical foundation/career right away!
