I like to call it music theory in reverse. Having a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music and music theory makes the songwriting process much easier.

About my music teaching backgroud: I've taught piano since I was in high school, and continued to teach while I was a student at Cornell University. I also taught theory classes in the Cornell Piano Society, where I served as President for 4 years.

Why? I simply love music, and sharing it with others.

While I'm classically trained, I've dabbled into other genres, such as Jazz, Rock, Pop, R&B, songwriting, and music production / audio engineering. I've recently been accepted into the Steinway & Sons (the piano makers) Teacher Partnership Program. Feel free to message me for more details!

About Marwan

I started playing piano when I was 3, and began writing music at the age of 6. I've taught music and piano for over 12 years, and tutoring other subjects for over 5 years. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I graduated from Cornell University in Electrical & Computer Engineering, with a minor in M

Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.
Romy R.
Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

Jordan has been giving voice lessons to my son (16) and daughter (12) online for almost a year now. I was little hesitant at first because we had never tried online lessons before, but my kids adore him and have become more confident singers. Jordan is very patient, encouraging and knowledgeable, and I highly recommend him as an instructor.

"Thanks Moriah . I have been writing contemporary christian, gospel and kids songs for five years, I needed some help improving my lyric writing and song structure getting my songs from good songs to great songs in today's styles. I hate to say this because she has been so patient and so good I fear she might get over booked now. I think she deserves the compliment . I have worked with many others and so far I think she is the best. She has helped me take one of my song to the next level I am hopeful to get pitched to a ccm artist. I plan on staying with her. I think she really knows her stuff."

"Having worked with Greg over the course of several years now, I have the deepest respect for his teaching ability. As a performer with over 25 years of experience, I find it a rare and special talent for someone as gifted as Greg is (as an artist) to be as humble and willing to listen as he most certainly is. He promotes a learning atmosphere of safety while also ensuring excellence is produced by students. His grasp on musical theory is second to none, and his skill as a seasoned guitarist ensures that what is being taught by him is both credible and of the highest standards.
I am privileged to know Greg personally as well as professionally, and I can vouch (once again) for his humility, skill, professionalism, credibility as a working artist, integrity, and work ethic. His heart is to watch the lights go on in his students and his passion in doing so serve to distinguish him as one of th"

Songwriting 101: Using the "Long-Line" Concept

One of the most wonderful and rewarding things about the art of songwriting is that there are many different ways to approach making your own music. Arlington,TX music teacher Ric F. previously shared with us his tips on using rhythm as a guide to writing. Today, Ric would like to add another aspect to your understanding of writing songs, something he calls the "long-line" concept. Unlike visual art where you can see it all at once, music takes “time” to reveal itself. Today I would like …

3 Things Songwriters Should Always Keep in Mind

Are you perfectly content performing the pieces of famous composers and lyricists... or do you want to make your own contribution? If you want to learn how to become a songwriter, check out this guest post by teacher Eric C...   The world of music is as vast as the world that we live in. Some genres have existed for thousands of years, while others are still being created today. This is all because music is constantly evolving.
