I teach students on an individual level according to what they want to accomplish. Each lesson is custom tailored to fit their objective. Mastering the instrument and
understanding music theory are two important subjects that I offer. Along with that, a student can focus on any musical style from classical to jazz plus other important aspects like composing, reading and recording music.
I am willing to share my professional experience with any student who wants to become a player!
*** Studio Equipment *** Steinway Grand Piano, Electric Piano Electric Bass Synthesizers Trumpets

He has a good ear and can help quickly with transcriptions. More importantly, he also gave some practical advice.

My son enjoys his music lessons with Jonathan, who is infinitely patient teaching what can be a challenging instrument. My son responds well to Jonathan's instruction, and he appreciates having access to a professional performer as a teacher. Jonathan encourages my son to learn a variety of music, including both challenging classical pieces and more recognizable popular and jazz pieces, which helps to sustain his interest in the lessons.

This instructor is very helpful when learning new concepts and adjusts his lessons to match your skill level.
Outside of teaching percussion and musical performances I have worked in special education for over 15 years.
My life of music started knee high at the age of 4 playing drums and piano. At the age of 15 I gave my first musical performance, from that stage on I knew my talent had found a home.
In the 11th grade I toured with a local funk group in Washington DC through 26 cities learning music and the life of travel at an early age. During my last high school and college years I performed extensively playing classical, jazz, rock, funk, go-go, gospel, marching band, R&B, and with local rap artist.
Recording credits and highlights include work with Def Jam artist Steady Eddy, recording go-go Mario with Double Agent Rock, and recordings with Little Benny and the Masters.
My other musical passion is teaching. Throughout my col
lege years and beyond I served as a percussion instructor and assistant band director at Morgan State University. As part of the Morgan State University Magnificent Marching Machine I served as a instructional leader in music and performance mentor for the team. I taught part time as a percussion instructor at Milford Mill High School giving individual lessons for over 10 years.
Musical inspiration is an important element to the refinement of my craft. A few personal musical influences are Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Neil Peart (Rush), Dennis Chambers, (Santana), George Gray (Roberta Flack), Ricky Wellman (Miles Davis), Quinton Mack-Davis (Rare Essence) and Michael Bland (Prince).

My son’s first lesson went really well! Mr. Charles was really accommodating - as we were running late and he patiently waited and completed our full first session. My son is already looking to his next lesson.

Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%.
My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.
I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.
I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy.
*** Lesson Details *** My music lessons are unique for three main reasons:
1. I h
ave a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.
2. I have devoted considerable amounts of time and energy studying neuroscience, which has greatly improved my understanding of the learning process.
3. I have been blessed with the tremendous amount of patience necessary to guide a student through the necessary steps it takes to learn at whatever pace is optimal, in order to maximize the efficiency of the learning process for each individual.
*** Equipment *** Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.
*** Specialties *** Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to listen to, study, and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy, for example, learning their favorite songs from the radio.
My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.
Thanks for checking out my profile! Please contact me with any additional questions you may have, as well as to inquire about day/time availability. I'll do my best to get back to you right away (usually within a few hours).
My daughter is loving her cello lessons with Ray even more than she expected. She feels she is really improving.
March 28, 2014
My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. She loves going to Ray because he teaches her to play the songs that she likes. Now she plays so many songs for memory!! My son loves going to piano and is always excited to see Ray.
In our percussion class we will cover music theory, counting rhythms and discover a variety of percussion. The majority of this lesson will revolve around the Cajon, Shaker, Tamborine, and using brushes and snare technique and will explore african drums as well!
Bring your hacky sack and get ready for the drum circle. This class is perfect for groups and couples. Feel free to use the "ask a question" feature if you have any questions about this class or it's outline!
I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm.
I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
ns, and Pony Up.
When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.
*** Lesson Details *** I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.
My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.
Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.
Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.
Have played many different percussion over the years. The trip to Brazil helped with Samba and other percussion. Three years with Holland America Line put it into use, along with drum set.
An online Masters Jazz program from University of Arkansas at Monticello, (2018-2019) these studies will help students understand various Jazz, Brazilian, and Afro-Cuban drum patterns.
I attended Wright State University for two (2) years studying Music , and then transferred to Belmont University to receive a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. A Masters of Music from Eastern Kentucky University will help overall General music and creative studies.
I also studied at the Eastman School of Music, learning Creative Music Making and African drum studies.
I attended University of Dayton for Percussion, Music Technology, & World music, and different Samba schools in Salvador/Rio, Brazil for Samba studies.
I have been performing since 1984 for theatre shows, Pop/Rock, jazz, R & B, Circus’ (Great Wallendas), swing bands,
American Entertainment Productions show band (One year), and performed with Holland America Cruise Line for three (3) years. Recently, I've been performing Musicals in Columbus, OH (Tarzan), Sinclair College and Dare2Defy Productions - not necessarily all in order. Played in different jazz bands, Pop/Rock groups, and Churches (Contemporary & Traditional) in the area.
I have been teaching since 2004, both privately and for local studios, offering all styles.
Dave studied Afro-Cuban Percussion, Percussion and Drums at the University of Northern Colorado, the nation's 3rd largest Jazz school. He brings 17+ years of education and teaching experience to the table.
I own a local music/art/production institution which hosts lessons for many instruments and artistic pursuits. Personally, I've been teaching for over 17 years, and I teach beginner to advanced students in instruments like guitar, bass, piano/keys, voice, and drums, and depending on your needs, our studio offers a variety of professional teachers that teach all woodwind, brass, and stringed instruments.
I also am an online teacher for a the world's biggest web platform for guitar instruction, and teach lessons alongside those in Berklee alumni, Musician's Institute, as well with many very famous artists that are now in the music business.
Though I've had the fortune to work with some of the best in studios, as a songwriter, and player, and in education, both professional and informal, I love to teach entry level players up through
the intermediate levels the most. I enjoy watching people discover things for the first time, and in my teaching I really do my best to craft my lessons to the needs of the students. My primary aim in teaching is that I would cultivate in my students a love for music and learning. With these two things in place, a student can go on to be and learn anything.
Join me, we'll have a great time, and we'll get you to your goals while we're enjoying the journey of music together!!
Dave is the absolute “best” teacher I have ever had! I’m an older (69) student and his techniques amaze me. I’m learning things I have never been exposed to and so wish I had had a teacher like Dave when I was 10...maybe I would be able to play! Thanks Dave!

He was great with our son. First lesson a d he loved it

Dave was great. Easy to understand and showed me where I need to improve.
Whether a beginner or an advanced musician, I love working with students of any age and skill level. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit the student’s skills and interests, making sure that they are not only progressing but enjoying the process of making music.
About: I'm a video game composer who loves working with students of any age and skill level, whether they are beginning music for the first time or have been a musician for years. Getting people started composing or playing piano and watching them discover that they have a lot to say through music, is such a joy of mine. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit the student’s skills and interests, making sure that they are not only progressing but enjoying the process of making music.
My students have gone on to record their music in the Netherlands, write a musical that was performed at their college, write a song for their middle school talent show, score a short film - and much more!
With me, students can learn: • Piano • Composition (any style: jazz, classical, pop – you name it, we can do it!) • Composing for film, T.V.
and video games • How to use music composition software (Logic, Digital Performer, Cubase, Studio One, Pro Tools, Ableton etc.) • Music theory • Songwriting • Music production • How to use music notation software (write out your parts, charts, lead sheets etc. so that others can play your original compositions) • Classical percussion techniques
Students can expect to have a lot of fun learning with me! We can write soundtracks, band pieces, solo pieces - whatever the student finds most interesting.
Lesson Schedule: I teach M-TH 9am-9pm and Fri/Sunday: 9am-4pm I suggest booking lessons for a once a week reoccurring time slot for the best learning results.
Cancellation Policy: Sometimes things come up - I understand! All I ask is that you give me at least 24 hours notice before your lesson time and we can reschedule the lesson (you’ll get to keep your credit for that lesson). If not, or for no-shows, the lesson will be marked “missed” (you’ll lose a lesson credit). *If you miss 3 lessons in a row, another student may take your reoccurring time slot and we’ll need to find a new time.
Required Materials: In-person lessons only: Please bring a staff paper notebook. I use this to write notes in for you. You can find one on Amazon for about $5. Let me know if you need help with that! Online lessons only: Create a folder for our lessons, I will be sending you various files and PDFs so keep them all in the same place for easy access. depending on what you are learning, I may also have you download the Zoom desktop client, this is great for sharing system audio when working with music production. *If you are studying piano, composition or music software, it is suggested to have a piano or MIDI keyboard at home to practice on. If you do not have one, let me know before our first lesson and I can give you some suggestions of ones to purchase depending on your budget.
Teacher Location Information: Cat: I have a very friendly cat named Otto at my home location. He is very sweet and quiet and all of my students love him! However, if you are allergic to cats I would suggest booking online lessons. Parking: There is usually street parking available around the building.
Please feel free to send me a message with any questions!
Taylor is a very knowledgeable and in just a few minutes figured out my level and what I wanted to accomplished and put an awesome class full of precise information that I always needed to know. Excited for my upcoming classes!

Orchestral and Rudimental percussion, auxiliary percussion/band percussion instruments, all county all district and all state audition prep. Extensive help available for refining technique and sight reading.
Former attendee of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem as well as SUNY Purchase School of Music.
I've worked as a professional church choral music director, and have extensive experience teaching (in addition to piano) hand drums, drumset, singing, and beginning guitar -- all in a variety of genres.
I help singers achieve vocal freedom, connecting most directly to songs as well as their natural voice.
I perform around my local area in a variety of venues from upscale wine bars to weddings.
I live, teach, and play with passion -- and look forward to sharing that with every new student I meet.
This was my first time trying music lessons. Isaiah Was able to help me feel comfortable singing and acquire more of a natural sounding voice. and over the course of 4 weeks worth of lessons i was able to improve greatly in my abilities to the point where i'm confident now :) would recommend and will be back for more!

Russell for Bequia
Isaiah was patient and helpful, a good music teacher who gave my daughter the skills to improve in her instrumental music class.
May 13, 2018
Isaiah worked with me to identify my vocal range, and where I fell short in my vocal abilities. Isaiah gave me tailor made exercises to improve my singing . I began to hear the change in just a couple of sessions. He is really patient and individualistic in his approach, which makes him in awesome teacher. I would recommend Isaiah to anyone in a heartbeat.
"Puts lesson in easy to understand terms, concepts and exercises."
"Fantastic lesson!! Olises really broke down the strokes and took the time to make sure I understood the lesson's objectives. The lesson was at the perfe
ct speed. Looking forward to next week's lesson."
"Dave is an experienced drummer, fluent in rudiments and familiar with various styles. He tailored the lessons to my skills, experience, and desires. Given
a somewhat general idea of what I wanted, he prepared lessons that not only incorporated the skills and techniques I wanted to learn, but applied them to scenarios in which I might use them in the real world. Not only that, but he is willing to travel to his students' locations, instead of expecting them to go to him. Because of this, I was able to learn on my own kit, instead of having to adapt to one that may have been vastly different than what I'm used to. I highly recommend Dave as a drum instructor!"
"Good assessment of child's starting point. Wonderfully enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Great introduction into drum kit (we called it drum set in my day
). At that point, needed to slow down and give child more fundamental practice time to soak in the concepts before racing on."
"Ben was very accommodating to my son's busy marching band schedule. My son had never taken lessons before, and he was nervous as to what to expect. By t
he second lesson, that was all just a thing in the past! Ben worked with my teenager to relax and really enjoy what he was playing. Even the teachers at school have noticed the improvement in my son's abilities after only a few lessons with Ben! If you need a lesson teacher, BOOK BEN!"
"Steve D. is an excellent teacher! My daughter is in the band at her middle school, and she started taking lessons a few weeks before school started. She
was worried about having to play a part on the bells that she did not know. Steve showed her exactly how to play it, and she was able to play the whole piece before leaving her lesson. She came worried, and she left confident! Steve is very patient, and is able to answer any question you ask him regarding percussion. He is very kind as well, and I would recommend him to anyone who needs lessons."
"The lesson was great and Luis did a fantastic job. My son really enjoyed the experience. He is 8 years old, and Luis was a good choice for a children's in
"This dude can play! Brian is a great teacher.. we did some hand drums and drum set for the few lessons we had together. I was new to learning music and g
lad I came across Brian because he is a chill guy with positive light. I felt as if I could take drums as far as I wanted with Brian as my teacher. I will be back for some more lessons when my wife lets me lol."
"Ed Breazeale is a very talented professional jazz drummer and percussionist. He is dependable and easy to work with. Ed is very generous with both his t
ime and experience and is helpful to both student and parents in finding supplemental resources to aid in drum practice and development. Ed is extremely driven and unafraid to take risks which push himself and his students to new levels of accomplishment. Our son and our family thoroughly enjoy any opportunity to work with Ed."
