For past 8 years, I've been teaching students Pre K- 8th grade to play percussion instruments to create a rhythm and keep a beat. They were taught to explore different percussion instruments. As a music student, you'll learn about drums, tambourines, xylophones, and other instruments you strike, shake, or rub to make music. You will also learn the types and parts of percussion instruments and then explore how pitch changes based on the size of the air column.

"Mariano was an amazing percussion and drum set teacher. His lessons were engaging and productive, and he was always able to communicate an idea or musical concept in a way that I was able to understand and connect with. After about 2 years of lessons I was accepted into the Orange County School of the Arts for percussion and I owe my success to the lessons I took with Mariano. I continued lessening throughout high school and my skill level contined to grow. What I loved about Mariano's teaching was his unique ability to take very simple exercises and make them more difficult and therefore much more beneficial. Along with stressing the importance of basic technique, he would constantly inteoduce me to new things - Afro beats, traditional grip, Latin beats, new ways to sight read, and 4 mallet marimba technique. I would highly suggest taking lessons with Mariano if you are looking for a fun, encouraging teacher who has lots of experience with a variety of percussion performance!"

"When you are looking for a good music instructor, these are the things you have to consider. 1. Price, 2. Location, 3. Teacher's experiences (resume), and 4. Characters of the instructor. The first three are easy to recognize from online information. The last one is hard to get, and yet , for us, the most important factor. Many instructors teach lessons only as a job (for money). They do things only during their "paid time." However, taking music lessons need more than that. A true music educator takes every opportunity to see the potentials of the student, knows how to coach individuals, and build up each student with encouragement and sometimes, discipline. He not only teach weekly lesson to help improved my son's skills, he also do extra to encourage students to go to concert, summer camp and perform at the nursing home. Every year, he arranged every details of a free concert with flyer, communications, equipment and even a professional cameraman! He did all those to encourage students to get out there to perform. We are forever grateful for his help for our son's college and scholarship applications. Mr. Rank is a "student oriented" teacher with a servant heart. If anybody is looking for an "all inclusive teacher, Mr. Rank is the best percussion teacher in DFW area. I can never thank enough for what he has done for my son. I hope my son will one day grow and become a teacher like Mr. Rank who care so much for his students."

"Michael is a world-class drummer, and I had the benefit of his coaching for my drumline and in private lessons. He's patient with 'dumb questions' and helps students discipline themselves to acheive incredible levels of technique. Also a really gentle, nice guy in general! Highly recommended."

"Kevin is a fantastic instructor!

I have been taking private lessons from Kevin for two years now as we'll as receiving instruction in Band for the last three years. Kevin not only is an incredible percussionist himself, but he has a knack for being able to convey ideas to students that they can understand. New and better approaches to teaching rhythm, personalized lesson planning to suit a student's needs, and a vast knowledge of music from years of professional experience are just a few things that Kevin brings to the table. If you're looking for a percussion instructor, I would highly recommend Kevin as your first choice!"

"I am a high school band director and Cameron was our percussion instructor last school year. He did a wonderful job with the students! He covered all areas of percussion from marching band, to concert band, and even percussion ensemble. He pushed the students and expanded their skills on all percussion instruments, all while keeping things engaging for the students. He programmed for and rehearsed our three percussion ensembles last year. Cameron was an integral part of our band program and our students loved working with him!"
