No need to be nervous before my lessons. I have taught lessons to ages 6 to students in their 70's! My lessons have a comfortable atmosphere where students can be okay learning with mistakes; through trial and error. I always keep a light mood with quick bits of humor. I teach in a relaxing way, but at the same time you may expect to leave with new musical knowledge every lesson. I enjoy showing the connections between music and other areas of study and life. I always finds ways to work a student's personal interests into lessons. I always strive to help students learn how to practice in an efficient and organized way.
I am a published composer and active performer/teacher/conductor with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Conducting!

Exceeded all my expectations! My sister really appreciated and learned a lot and I can already see a positive change in her singing confidence.
My 10 year old daughter was very nervous but Mike did a good job of getting her past it. Gave a lot of positive feedback!
Mike was very knowledgable and friendly! He was very encouraging and helped me overcome my doubts. If you're on the fence about taking lessons from him, definitely do it - you won't regret it!
Had an amazing first lesson! Michael is patient and a great musician.
Also - we watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the same day! :D
Michael is a wonderful instructor. He was very patient with my 11 year-old daughter. She learned many useful things from correct posture, proper fingering, how to read the sheet music properly, tone, counting...I could list many more things. He emphasized the importance of warm up exercises, different scales, and then practicing songs in sections and then piecing it all together. I would highly recommend this instructor.+ Read More

Michael is the best instructor! He has such patience and works with my son so well. Even though we have only had a few lessons Michael is able to tailor the lessons to fit my son. He is encouraging, prompt, and very personable. We are excited to continue lessons to improve my son's skills!+ Read More
Great! Willing to work with needs and very knowlegable to train on goals.
Michael is great with my kids. He is teaching my youngest daughter, age 11, the drums and my oldest, age 13, the guitar. We are able to all come together and he takes them one at a time. He is very encouraging to the girls, even when they mess up he has something positive to say to show them the correct way of doing it. In just 3 lessons I can see improvements and they are both very excited when we get home to show dad what they learned.+ Read More
Mike was very cordial from the first email, and contacted me not long after I had scheduled lessons for the next week. He was very eager to begin teaching, as well as proactive in his communications with me.
As we began, we quickly discovered what areas of music theory that I needed help in. While I did not have a microphone, he was able to explain enlightening concepts to me while being open for questions at any time. He also drew helpful diagrams on a whiteboard as he taught, which granted more clarity.
Afterwards, I received an email with material that I could use to study, and he gave suggestions as to what to apply my knowledge to.
Mike is definitely worth looking into if you want a relaxed, informative and experienced teacher for such a great price.
