I was first asked to teach blues guitar by a guy I met on a street corner on the Temple Campus. I had never really played blues before that, but I used my knowledge of Ragas to develop a unique approach to the genre which has worked for me very well since I started with it several years ago. For more details, check out my Blues Raga Guitar Series on YouTube through the links on my TakeLessons.com profile.

About Jonathan

I studied music therapy and music theory at Temple University from '06-'10. Learned a lot. Then again, I learned even more teaching at a school for kids with learning disabilities and working as a traveling street performer. Successfully teaching current students with clear, concise lessons.

All of my current students have developed confidence and enthusiasm to learn all materials presented in an easy to comprehend format.

Each student learns at different levels so all lessons are customized to challenge them but also insure they learn and retain all materials presented to them.

Currently have 16 students ranging from beginners to advanced level.
When selecting a teacher, make arrangements to meet in person to review short and long term goals of learning a musical instrument. Pricing should only be used as the last criteria before making a final decision. It's important to insure your instructor is patient and willing to challenge students to setup a practice routine that will fit their current schedule.

If a student needs an instrument, have instructor give recommendations based on the musical styles they are interested in learning.

Students often ask how long it will take to learn to play a Guitar.

About Alejandro

What is your typical process for working with a new student? Initially will setup lesson plans for first 3 cycles of instruction. Lessons are based on the time frame selected (1/2 hr, hr) and are mandatory once a week. We can also discuss additional lessons if desired up to 3 lessons within a w

Alejandro is a marvelous teacher of music, the guitar specifically, to my 3 grandchildren every Saturday and now for getting onto a year. They love it and are learning ever so much! He is a most talented musician, himself, and has a way of transferring all of that to the 2 boys and my granddaughter. He is reliable and punctual and a treasure to have the opportunity to have him teach the children. I studied the piano for 15 years when I was young, so know a lot of what I speak

"Dave is very knowledgeable and will work with you in any genre or style of music. As an older student I felt totally comfortable with Dave from the very first notes struck. I would highly recommend Dave to anyone wishing to improve their guitar skills....but dont expect to be playing like Clapton immediately!
My only issue is the long drive from Vero Beach to his studio. Something to take into consideration."

"I chose to take up the guitar later in life (after retirement). I did not read music nor did I feel that I had any rhythm. William was extremely patient with me and brought me to levels that far exceeded my expectations. William has a rare ability to be able to put a person at ease and reduce their tension level. Sometimes it was through playing and sometimes through playing. He was able to read my apprehension level very well and seemed to always choose the correct method. I moved away from the area and thus far have not found a guitar teacher with the same abilities. Regardless of age or ability, I would recommend William to anyone. Were it not so expensive I would gladly fly back to Phoenix once a week to continue my lessons with William."

"Couldn't ask for a better instructor! Ahmad is an unbelievably talented player, but more than that, he has a system for instruction which breaks down a number of complex concepts and makes it easy to absorb new things. I can tell from listening in on his other lessons (when I arrive early) that he's great at tailoring his lessons to the individual's goals. For some, it's music theory and structure, for others its riffs and teaching particular songs."

"After messing around on the guitar for years I'm looking for a teacher who can go back and take me through all the building blocks of music, including scales, chords, and formations. After just one jam-packed 60 min lesson with Eric I know he's the teacher that can do just that. I feel like I've already learned more than I could in weeks of doing it on my own.

Super pumped to reignite my guitar learning with Eric as I know I'll be able to make progress faster with the proper guided direction.

Let the good times roll..."

"I've been playing guitar on and off (mostly off) for the past 15 years. I came to Daniel to learn music theory, improve my rhythm, and learn the skills I need to confidently show up to a jam session with other musicians. In just a few lessons, I've significantly improved in each of those areas at Daniel's instruction. He REALLY knows his stuff and quickly hones in on your strengths/weaknesses and has great advice for how to improve on your weaknesses.

If you are looking for a guy that can teach you the basics of how to play an instrument, or someone that can take you from just learning songs online to being able to create your own songs and jam with other musicians, Daniel is your guy."

Tricks For Differentiating The Two Blues Chord Progressions

Ready to get started with learning blues chord progressions? Here's an intro by Austin, TX guitar teacher Samuel B...   In order to properly respect and understand both the theory and structure of ANY kind of American music, it's essential to be able to play the blues. Although the form is said (by some scholars) to have originated in Africa within the story-telling traditions of village griots (historians/poets/musicians who would play a five-stringed instrument known as the halam, which …
