My 9 year old daughter really liked Robert. She started from scratch and learned new skills, many notes and a couple of songs in 2 1/2 hours of lessons. She told me he was really nice and I was impressed with her progress. He was very easy to work with and was always prompt to the lessons.

Bluegrass is a musical tradition about as American as it gets. Originating from the cross pollination between German, Irish, and African-American music in the Appalachian region, bluegrass really captures the sound of America as a melting pot. In our lessons, we'll listen to classic pioneers of bluegrass in recorded music, and pick apart how to apply their styles on the guitar.

Peter is hands down the best teacher ever! I had such a hard time learning the basics of acoustic, but he taught me so many tricks and made the learning process smooth. I feel like a pro now! Will be continuing learning from him!

Experienced guitar instructor of over 10 years, offering highly-personalized lessons built around the musical preferences, needs and goals of my students. I teach students of all ages in a warm, welcoming, LGBTQIA+ friendly environment.

For beginner students the focus will be primarily on getting you able to play songs from artists you love quickly and enjoyably, with a focus on developing good rhythm, technique, guitar care and a solid foundation of chords that can be used in innumerable songs. Theory will be given in small, easily-digestible pieces, and always within the context of actual musical examples. If you're interested in learning to sing while playing, I'll also help you find ways to incorporate it early on so that it becomes more natural as you progress.

For students with some experience the direction of our lessons will be largely determined by your personal needs and goals, but subjects we might cover include songwriting, finger-picking, expanding chord vocabulary, ...

I love bluegrass. My special interests range from Merle Travis, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Tony Rice but also include newer groups like the Punch Brothers and Allison Krauss.

Whether it’s getting your right hand alternating thumb pattern down, getting your flat–picking accurate and speedy, or learning to improvise over Bluegrass Standards, I can help.
