Hello from Adam! My career has been an awesome mix of formal education, teaching and touring.

On the school side, I am a graduate of New York University's Music Business + Technology program.

I have been teaching since 2010, doing both private lessons as well as group and individual sessions at Denver's famed Swallow Hill Music. Part of my duties with Swallow Hill included working with their House Of Rock summer camp program instructing young adults in the 12-18 age range.

I am passionate about teaching guitar and someone that prides themselves on tailoring each lesson to the individual student by putting in the necessary time to prepare materials in advance. I don't have a one-size-fits-all "method" and strive to only provide helpful and applicable instruction. My comfort zone goes anywhere from kids just starting out to adults in working bands that need to add some tricks to their guitar ouevre.

I have been the subject of a full-page feature in Vintage Guitar magazine and several songs I've played on have been broadcast on Sirius/XM "Outlaw Country." My original music has been captured on two highly-acclaimed instrumental albums, Twang Shui and High Country Gentleman.

About Adam S.

According to Vintage Guitar Magazine I am "looking to bring a new sound to instrumental guitar music" and that my original songs are "a memorable mix of country, jazz, rock and soul that transcends all genres." As a sideman, my resume includes numerous tours with national acts and I've also had songs on SiriusXM Radio.

And I love teaching and sharing my knowledge of music! My teaching background has been with all ages and all levels of students. I've had great success with getting beginners off the ground and helping them play the music they enjoy. Nothing is off-limits whether it be pop songs, fingerpicking, metal anthems, country pickin', jazz standards, blues improvisation -- you name it.

I don't have a "method" but rather tailor our sessions to your individual needs. Everyone is different and I spend the time preparing material that works for YOU.

Adam’s got some cool blues pockets. I’d never really thought about lead as pockets - kind of like a drummer would think about a fill. So I guess if you think about lead as discrete pockets it should be “easier “ to break down the lead guitar.

Adam is a patient and wonderful teacher. He writes down the lessons and is helpful by sending videos as well. He has reinforced my instrumental play by refreshing the basics, the major and minor pentatonic scales.

Adam is the best guitar teacher I have ever had. I tried learning guitar with a few other teachers but never really got the hang of it and didn't see much improvement. In just a couple months Adam has taught me so much from playing different chord shapes to different strumming patterns and techniques. I can genuinely feel a difference in my playing and have seen great improvement. Adam also takes the time to explain the songs he teaches and the ideas and motifs behind them. His methods really do work no matter what experience level you are. His knowledge and skills on the guitar (both electric and acoustic) are amazing. He's passionate about playing guitar which is what makes him such a great teacher. If you are looking to start playing or looking to improve upon your skills Adam is the guy for you!

Adam has given me confidence to pursue my goal of playing well. My interim goal is to play 2 songs by his next visit.
Adam is patient and generous with his time. I would recommend him to anyone, including 79 year olds like me who have not played for forty years.

I had the pleasure of having Adam instruct me the basics of acustic country guitar for a few months. By the end of the lesson , I was able to play three songs from start to finish and was really happy about that! Adam is patient and skilled and I would definitely book him again for another session.

Mine was a great learning experience! I was a beginner, and a little apprehensive at first. Adam immediately set me at ease and allowed me to advance at my own pace and encouraged me to develop my own playing style, and I am thrilled with the results. I highly recommend Adam Stern as an instructor to anyone from beginner to advanced playing ability. Adam knows his stuff!
