About Adam S.
According to Vintage Guitar Magazine I am "looking to bring a new sound to instrumental guitar music" and that my original songs are "a memorable mix of country, jazz, rock and soul that transcends all genres." As a sideman, my resume includes numerous tours with national acts and I've also had songs on SiriusXM Radio.
And I love teaching and sharing my knowledge of music! My teaching background has been with all ages and all levels of students. I've had great success with getting beginners off the ground and helping them play the music they enjoy. Nothing is off-limits whether it be pop songs, fingerpicking, metal anthems, country pickin', jazz standards, blues improvisation -- you name it.
I don't have a "method" but rather tailor our sessions to your individual needs. Everyone is different and I spend the time preparing material that works for YOU.

Adam’s got some cool blues pockets. I’d never really thought about lead as pockets - kind of like a drummer would think about a fill. So I guess if you think about lead as discrete pockets it should be “easier “ to break down the lead guitar.Show More
Adam is a patient and wonderful teacher. He writes down the lessons and is helpful by sending videos as well. He has reinforced my instrumental play by refreshing the basics, the major and minor pentatonic scales.
Great first class!
Adam is a wonderful instructor. Your comfort is a priority because he clearly wants you to succeed. His desire to share and spread his love of music is genuine.
Adam is a great player and a dedicated teacher. He immerses himself into the material and conveys his thoughts very clearly. A good choice.
Adam is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and patient. He is very professional and always accommodates my schedule.
Adam is the best guitar teacher I have ever had. I tried learning guitar with a few other teachers but never really got the hang of it and didn't see much improvement. In just a couple months Adam has taught me so much from playing different chord shapes to different strumming patterns and techniques. I can genuinely feel a difference in my playing and have seen great improvement. Adam also takes the time to explain the songs he teaches and the ideas and motifs behind them. His methods really do work no matter what experience level you are. His knowledge and skills on the guitar (both electric and acoustic) are amazing. He's passionate about playing guitar which is what makes him such a great teacher. If you are looking to start playing or looking to improve upon your skills Adam is the guy for you!Show More
Adam has given me confidence to pursue my goal of playing well. My interim goal is to play 2 songs by his next visit.
Adam is patient and generous with his time. I would recommend him to anyone, including 79 year olds like me who have not played for forty years.
Great first lesson. Learning some theory and basic chords. Already playing a couple songs
Adam was a delight! He was thorough in his teaching. He showed patience and offered tips that were very helpful. I look forward to strumming with Adam. He plays effortlessly and makes magic with the guitar. I look forward to working with Adam as I embark on the road to becoming a guitar player.Show More
I had the pleasure of having Adam instruct me the basics of acustic country guitar for a few months. By the end of the lesson , I was able to play three songs from start to finish and was really happy about that! Adam is patient and skilled and I would definitely book him again for another session.Show More
Mine was a great learning experience! I was a beginner, and a little apprehensive at first. Adam immediately set me at ease and allowed me to advance at my own pace and encouraged me to develop my own playing style, and I am thrilled with the results. I highly recommend Adam Stern as an instructor to anyone from beginner to advanced playing ability. Adam knows his stuff!Show More
