It’s always a very special time a guitar student wants to learn about the blues. As an improviser, this is one of my favorite topics to teach.
We will listen to the great blues guitarists, discussing their individual sound and technique. Lots of time will be spent learning scales and basic harmonic principles. Most importantly though, we will jam! It’s not easy at first, but I promise to keep the vibe easy-going and positive.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

Playing blues guitar is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding musical experiences around! With my Berklee degree and my 34 years of both teaching and performing experience, I can show you everything you need to know. You will learn to improvise (jam) using basic and advanced blues scales. You will learn the absolute coolest blues chords around -- both easy and challenging. You will learn a ton of licks, tricks, and techniques. And you will learn to apply these skills to many great blues tunes! They say "the blues never ends." Find out for yourself how true that is!

About Stan
Hi! I am a private music instructor offering lessons both in-studio and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music (Summa cum Laude) and I have over 35 years' full-time experience as an instructor. I also have nearly four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages, as well as television, radio, and recording studios. Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.

**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****

My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and results. I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Each lesson is customized to make the most of each student's own
unique abilities, limitations, preferences, and interests. Whether students prefer, or do better, with traditional materials, playing/singing along with their favorite recordings, improvisation, or anything in between, I am more than happy to accommodate and bring out each student’s best!

I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on Beatles One ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.

**** MY STUDIO ****

My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummer going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.

**** STYLES / GENRES ****

I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.

My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, film/television, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged.

**** MY STUDENTS ****

Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.

Do you have a song or two in your heart. Contact me today and I will help you reach your musical goals no matter what they may be!

You will learn the variance of styles of blues guitarists from past to present and develop your own voice in the realm of blues music and improvisation!

About Jesse
My name is Jesse and I am a guitarist who lives in Seattle, WA. I graduated from the University of Southern California with Cum Laude Honors in 2015. I maintain a busy schedule of performances accompanying jazz singers in the area and I am on faculty at Cornish College of the Arts as an accompanist in the jazz voice department.

I began teaching beginning guitar lessons to friends and classmates in high school. Ever since I picked up the guitar, I knew it was something that I wanted to pursue professionally because of the joy that it brought me. Being able to share that with other people is something I am very passionate about. I continued teaching beginning guitar and advanced jazz harmony to other guitarists in the music program to help pay tuition in college at USC. I taught at Music and Arts in Redmond during the summer after finish
ing college before moving to the Bothell store within the same organization. I also began teaching at the Andrew White School of Music around the same time. I teach beginners on both guitar and bass as well as jazz improvisation on guitar.

Jazz is a style of music I specialize in and I teach it like teaching a language as I firmly believe that jazz is a language. I teach improvisation to not only guitar, but to all instruments as the concepts are the same. Improvisation lessons are fun and interactive and challenge you to be creative, which is what art is all about!

My teaching method is very flexible, as I am very aware that students learning styles and goals vary greatly. I am a patient teacher who will work to help put a student in a position to be successful and achieve his or her goals through lesson plans and teaching methods tailored to meet the student's learning style. Seeing students succeed and have fun making progress and improving as a musician brings me a lot of joy!

There is nothing more frustrating for a student than feeling like they're treading water trying to teach themselves. My goal is to make the learning process as fun as possible! One of the ways I do that is giving the student the opportunity to experiment with improvisation and explore the instrument during lessons and for when they practice at home to supplement the more formal training. This helps students develop their own individual sound on the instrument from day one, is fun and interactive, and gives the student the chance to be creative when learning a new instrument.

My daughter is 14 years old and although she had been playing the guitar for several years she was ready to advance to jazz guitar. She began lessons with Jesse and it was instant progress, she always enjoys the lessons and she is really good thanks to the constant support of her teacher Jesse, she plays in the school jazz band and has shown huge improvement over the past year. Jesse is extremely flexible which has really helped us with our daughters busy schedule. I would recommend Jesse to anyone interested in quality guitar lessons.

I've had my songs placed in film, MTV shows, and have also performed live on television, including "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Beginner students are welcome! I strive to make my lessons personalized, funnnn, and at a comfortable pace. I enjoy teaching songs/styles that my students are actually interested in learning! I am also comfortable teaching in Japanese.

About Maxmillion
I am very proud to have been born and raised on the lovely island of Guam! I have been playing guitar, bass, and drums since I was 15, and have had a passion for music since I can remember. In 2007, I earned my associates degree in music from Musicians Institute Hollywood. I have had my music placed in popular television shows, such as “The Real World” and “Road Rules," as well as the film “The Tested.”

I previously played guitar in a project called Xolie Morra and the Strange Kind. We were featured as the musical guest on the popular late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in January 2014. We were also featured on the local television programs "Art Zone with Nancy Guppy" and "New Day Northwest." We are also featured on YouTube as sponsored artists on EMGtv and Blue Microphones. I also have had the opportunity to share the stage with
Crosby Stills and Nash, John Mayer, Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, Russell Ferrante, Travis Carlton, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Guitar is my main focus, but I am also comfortable teaching bass and ukulele. I love all styles, and specialize in rock, blues, funk, pop, reggae, metal, and acid jazz. Arguably the basis for all modern Western music, the blues is an important building block for any musical education. We'll learn the chords and scales that make up this style, and can branch out if you're feeling adventurous!

About Ari
I am a guitarist, bassist, writer and composer based in South Brooklyn. With international touring experience, songs licensed to film and television, and a degree from The New School, I have an approach that is both holistic and comprehensive. I am easygoing, adaptable and excited to approach music education from an inclusive angle!

I teach students of all ages, and have given an average of 40 lessons per week in a variety of formats (private, group, after school programs, online). My tastes in music are as varied as my experiences - nothing is off limits and everything has the potential to teach us both something.

I own and operate an independent music collective/label with a focus on thoughtful rock, pop and R&B. We are adept at finding the right team for our artists, and have had success in music and video production, national tourin
g, marketing and branding, and licensing. I'm currently a member of 3 original bands and have continued to do an array of session work on both guitar and bass.

I am endorsed by Lakland basses and am a member of SESAC. I love coffee, chocolate, and like my eggs over medium.

That question is often asked by prospective students. We make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.

We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach. At the Providence Guitar Academy, we personalize each lesson to achieve your goals. Depending on your goals, you will learn a combination of sight reading, performing skills, ear training, improvisation, rhythm, and music theory...all while playing your favorite songs and riffs!

A 6 year old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a 56 year old taking up guitar for the 2nd time after having had lessons many years back.

The main reason to choose the Providence Music Academy as your guitar lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual.

If you enroll for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that perfectly fits your needs and musical preferences. At the

There is no such thing as talent! Talent is only an illusion of learned skills and ANYONE can do it. Remember you only fail if you stop trying! As an instructor it is my job to show you how to be a self sufficient guitar player. To me this means that I should be giving you and teaching you tools to be able to hold your own as a great musician. I am a Junior at Iupui majoring in Music Technology with a minor in New Media and I have been playing guitar, piano, bass, percussion, and working in DAW's much longer than I'm proud to say. I've taught all ages and playing levels. My goal is to stop you from looking around for answers and lead you down a straighter path. I will help you learn about your guitar and the functions of music theory applied directly. In this way, regardless of genre styles you will see that all music is the same. Thus, you can be a musician and not just a guitar player.

About Paul
Hello, I'm Paul Weber and I am here to help you become a better musician on your guitar. I will explain techniques and proper use of the instrument as well as music theory. I want you to understand what is going on so that you don't feel frustrated or confused any longer. I have personally spent countless hours studying and trying to find the right answer not having proper instruction and it can be so frustrating and discouraging to you as a player. I'm looking forward to guiding you and getting you up to the next level much quicker than I ever did!

I work hard to personalize each lesson to the individual learning style of my students and encourage their passion for music.

About Rees
I am a professional multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer. I graduated from USC Thornton School of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance, specifically within Popular Music.
Students can expect their lessons to be highly personalized based on their interests and learning styles. Having operated in so many facets musically, I know how much depth is involved in being a complete musician and I encourage my students to be lifelong music lovers. I've performed alongside wide ranging acts such as John Fogerty, Glenn Frey, The Beach Boys, X-Ambassadors, and Diplo, and I've been mentored by greats such as Patrice Rushen and Glen Ballard.
