I have been teaching for over fifteen years. You can choose to learn by ear, notation, tab or any combination of these. Learn any of the fiddling competition tunes, or just your particular favorites.

I have been playing since I was 8. I have played mostly bluegrass, old time, and some Texas swing.

Experienced Music teacher of 8 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of their instrument and theory skills. I specialize in all styles. Typically, I use a variety of method books to pick from to meet the needs of the students. I also have many tools available to use during lessons.
My students have gone on to NYSSMA and on to college auditions successfully!

I have been teaching Fiddle for over fifty years. I've played in fiddle bands and fiddle for theater productions. I teach Old Time fiddle, Blue grass, Irish and all other styles of fiddle. Beginners, Intermediate and advanced are welcome. You will learn to play traditional fiddle tunes and fiddle improvisation, where you make up your own fiddle licks. This is great fun. You will love this study.

Fiddle:
Fiddle is another name for the bowed string musical instrument more often called a violin, and is the term for the instrument used by players in all genres, including classical music. Fiddle playing, or fiddling, refers to various styles of music. Fiddle is also a common term among musicians who play folk music on the violin. Lessons would start with the basics: Tuning, hand/bow technique, placement, ear training, notes, reading, songs, scales, theory and learning how to take a solo.

What's the difference between a violin and a fiddle?
According to the age old joke, "a fiddle is fun to listen to!"

While there's really no difference in instrument, only in style, and with no disrespect meant to Classical violin, my other passion, if you're looking to loosen up and have fun playing along with others by ear, then fiddle may be for you!

Though my specialty is Celtic music, particularly Irish, I can help you learn the basics of any style of fiddle music that catches your interest, including Old time/ American, Bluegrass, Scottish, and more! Lessons are focused on learning songs by ear and building a solid foundation in basic instrument skills that will allow you to play with ease and style with a focus on what -you- want to learn!
