Highland Bagpipes

Learn the fiddle from a teacher with a great background in Scottish, Irish, Old Time, other styles.

I can work with new fiddle students. I also enjoy helping those with a basic background to find the right tune that will help them develop their skills, as well as to explore new enjoyable styles.

I have played the Highland bagpipes and taught piping for almost 30 years. I lived in Glasgow, Scotland, where I studied piping & fiddling. I am the founder & pipe major of Tucson Highlanders LLC. I am a Tucson Musician Museum Inductee. I love to teach the pipes! I am also a Fiddle teacher and love to play various styles with a guitarist, I play Celtic music and tangos, especially love Mexican, South American, Cape Breton, and Gypsy styles. I also fiddle around with writing fiction, small dogs that have become a part of my life, my faith journey, and the study of languages. I have taught students with autism, blindness.

William Don Carlos is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He knows the instrument well, is patient, and worked with my goals.

William D. wasted no time during the lesson. He jumps right in and keeps things moving. His pacing was great for me. My first time learning fiddle I came away with how to build my bowing skills. He gave me some exercises that I'm excited to work on before the next lesson. He's got just the right balance of gentle critique and lots of affirmation. His instructions are clear and understandable. Great teacher! Looking forward to the next lesson!
