Whether just starting out, or having played for years, the focus will be on helping the student become proficient - or to improve - in their ability to express themselves in the Blues.

Everything you need to achieve the styles of Blues you want to play, learning the chords, scales, finger picking, hybrid picking and how to apply them into the Blues as a style, so you can achieve your goals, even developing your own style and approach.

About Geoff
I am a professional musician with a career spanning 40 years (touring and studio work), and 30 years teaching music.

What do you want to learn? How far you go is up to you!

*** Lesson Details ***
BEGINNING students start with the fundamentals, what you must know in order to begin playing songs, all the right ingredients to create a solid foundation. You will be encouraged to study and to venture into the unknown, using what you're learning as a springboard to discover new things.

INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED players will be assessed on knowledge and abilities; areas of struggle and what is desired to be learned. Within a couple weeks, you will reap the benefits with new ideas bubbling to the surface moving you closer to your goals, with emphasis that short term goals are important as well.

Everyone learns at a different pace. But
with patience and persistence, if you do the work, there will be results that can be measured, and you will achieve success!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier for guitar and bass students, and have a piano for piano students.

*** Specialties ***
Having played many styles over the years, I am able to play in most of the popular forms. All music is based on the same fundamental things. It's how they are used that defines a given style.

Lessons will be structured around music that you enjoy, whether that is rock, classical, or jazz. Music theory and technique will be incorporated into the lesson from day one, but never at the expense of making music! I hold a B.M. in jazz performance and a M.M. in classical performance, and have performed all over the world. Let's set up your first lesson!

About Joshua
I have been a full-time performer and teacher for over a decade. I hold a Masters degree in classical performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I studied with Grammy award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux, and I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of the Arts in jazz performance. My performance career has taken me across the United States, to Europe, and to Asia. Highlights from the 2016-17 concert season include performances with the Columbus Symphony with soloist Rachel Barton-Pine and CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, among others. The 2017-18 concert season includes concerts in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

Experienced guitar teacher available for eager beginning students of all ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of musical skills. I taught myself to play guitar in high school, so just know the basics. I played keyboards, my main instrument, in several rock bands, so know some blues riffs that could transfer well to guitar. I enjoy helping people to find the fun in playing guitar!

About Karen

I was a National Merit Semifinalist in High School for good SAT scores, and in the Honors Society in High School and College. I play piano, percussion, flute, cello, guitar, bass, cornet and glockenspiel, and teach music lessons. I enjoy playing duets with my students, sharing the fun of making music with them. I do macrame', draw and paint, and am certified as a Reiki Master. I always loved school, and enjoy helping other people to learn. My Dad is my role model, since he was a calm, patient tutor for me - I try to live up to his example in my own teaching work.
I like to work with my students in a learning partnership, letting them work at their own pace with my encouragement and support.
I love to teach, and
can help you love to learn!

Each lesson is customized to your learning style and different for everyone depending on what you want to learn. Most of my students like to learn from scratch which would include the following:
In the first 3 lessons you will learn basic guitar fundamentals, basic 1-4-5 song progressions (the stuff that 85% of all music we listen to is made up of), left hand / right hand coordination, picking techniques, how to strum, mute, & play notes on the guitar.

We can play as a band too. When you are ready, I love to bring out the drum or backing tracks to your favorite artists songs while you play guitar and I play what your not, giving you the feel of a live group
situation that can make learning at your lesson more fun.

Genres include Acoustic, Blues, Country, R&B, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Rock, Pop and more.

Tim did a great job of explaining the lessons and provided valuable information about reading music. Unfortunately, at the time I started, I also had a newborn making it very hard to stay on track with practicing. Now that my daughter is older, I have more time to practice, and look forward to taking lessons soon.

The Blues had easily the biggest hand in shaping American music more than any other genre (including Jazz, because Jazz couldn't have possibly been without the Blues). From B.B. King to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Blues has been so special to me it literally got me into playing the Guitar.
Students can expect to learn technique, scales, chords, call-and-response interaction, repertoire, and history. Blues is one of the most fun and spiritual styles of music in existence, and I want to help you access this incredible, almost ethereal human wonder.

About Kenny
I am a professional working musician and a licensed K-12 instructor in the State of Louisiana, having graduated from Loyola University New Orleans with a Bachelors of Music Education, with a Minor in Jazz Studies in the spring of 2016. I play the guitar (electric, steel/ nylon string acoustic), the trombone (tenor/ bass), and the drums (kit).
Guitar students can and should expect to improve in some facet every week after every lesson. Every person approaches music differently, and thereby, approaches the guitar differently. Different bodies mean different physical methods for successful playing. Different brains mean different musical realities- and whatever the state of yours is, I want to help you make it better.
There are so many different ways to be musical, and as your teacher I want to make you aware of them, and help you use every
tool in your toolbox, as well as give you some new ones. Music is not too vast to understand, and all it takes is one little push to be off on your way, making your own musical adventures.
As someone who has thrived in most ensemble scenarios from Concert Bands, Orchestras, Big Bands, to Rock Bands and Jazz Combos, I can help prepare you for any musical undertaking. I love students who love music and want to get better at it, regardless of what style it might be in.
So whoever you are, whatever you like, and wherever your skills are at, I want to help- to impart you with skills and knowledge you might need to play at the level you want. I look forward to meeting you and helping you be even more awesome!

As a recent graduate from Berklee College of Music, I am well versed in many styles and can cater to many fields of musical study. My principle instrument is guitar and I have been playing for over 10 years. Between my college education and private lessons from my younger years, I am able to balance building skills and having fun learning the instrument. I believe the most important part of learning an instrument is the desire to practice. To achieve that I want to give my students lessons that they find fun and engaging while they expand their knowledge and understanding of the instrument. All ages and skill levels are welcome I look forward to helping my students advance their guitar playing in any way they want.

About Benjamin
I’m the lead guitarist, co-founder and bandleader of a 9-piece live hip-hop band in Boston. We have a monthly residency at a prestigious venue in Cambridge and will be going on tour this summer.

I graduated from Berklee College of Music in May of 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and a minor in Music Production. I have been playing guitar for over 10 years and have learned a variety of styles through that time. These include rock, alternative, blues, jazz, fusion, R&B, hip-hop and funk.

One of the reasons I have pursued music so passionately is my first private teacher from whom I took lessons from the ages of 11-17. He was able to strike a balance between playing for fun and learning concepts on the guitar that I use to this day. My lessons are heavily influenced by this style, the most important thing you can do when le
arning an instrument is play every day and it’s important for that to be an appealing prospect. I want my students to enjoy what they learn in my lessons to the point where they are excited to practice and learn more. I will cater my lessons to each student, building a curriculum that is both fun and rewarding while being completely unique to that student. I welcome all ages and skill levels and am looking forward to helping my future students achieve their musical goals however I can.

My guitar lessons and classes are taught by a certified Musicians Institute graduate. I've had close to 10 years experience teaching lessons with kids and adults aged 5 and up. I've coordinated a number of after school guitar programs for kids in the past and still run a Y-Kids guitar program at the YMCA. I teach based on what the students want to learn to play while also covering music theory so you're enjoying while you learn!! I have had a lot of experience not only teaching but playing in bands, doing studio guitar sessions, playing gigs, and just working in the music industry.

About Kevin
Hello, my name is Kevin Balzano. I'm a Musicians Institute graduate class of 2010. Since graduating I've spent the last 7+ years teaching lessons and also coordinating after school guitar programs for companies such as Family Focus, Children's Choice, and I still run a Y-Kids guitar program for the YMCA of Southern Nevada. I've had lots of studio experience, session guitar work, and of course still play in bands that do gigs. I teach based on what musical style students want to learn while also implying music theory to help strengthen their knowledge.. I love teaching and playing music and it definitely shows in my lessons. I can cover all music styles from classical to shred metal and all ability levels from beginning to advanced. I'm always excited to get new students and hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and grew up like all of us being a fan first. I grew up playing in bands of all sorts and became a guitar tech and teacher soon after. I throughly enjoy passing down next generations with knowledge acquired throughout my years of playing, building and teaching.

About Glenn
I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and started off just like all of us being a fan first. I've played guitar , bass and drums in numerous bands of different genres primarily rock, metal, country and blues based. I soon after became a guitar tech (since I worked on all my own instruments anyways) and began giving lessons very soon after. I strongly believe going outside of one's comfort zone musically as a great way to open new doors and pathways not normally seen.
With teaching of any musical instrument, circumstances can easily force the teacher and student to frequently go outside of their own comfort zone. For me personally this helps so much with viewing things from different perspectives and with connecting with principals or methods. And developing a visual and cognitive understanding
of the instrument. I throughly enjoy teaching and passing down my acquired skills and information to anyone willing to learn. For the preservation of generations to come.
