I have been playing drum kit and percussion for over ten years and teaching for about seven. I've played a little bit of everything - pop, rock, punk, hip-hop, ska/reggae, blues, jazz, and even musical theater. In addition to drum kit, I can play and teach hand drums (djembe and conga) in contemporary or traditional African, Latin, American styles. I'm happy to share my skills and expertise with drummers of all ages and skill levels.
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

*** Lesson Details *** In general, and depending on the student requirements, I teach drum rudiments, music notation, a range of styles, drum tuning and setup. As part of my method, I divide my class/lesson into four sections, which begins with warm ups and proceed with drum rudiments and coordination. I devote the second portion of the lesson to reading and playing orchestral snare drum pieces, and in the third section, students practice different types of rhythms. In these lessons, as well as in private classes, I use drum-method books such as Joel Rothman's Mini-Monster Book of Rock Drumming by Joel Rothman (Fort Lauderdale, Fla: J.R. Publications, 1981), Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer by Jim Chapin (New York: Jim Chapin, 1971), Ted Reed’s Progressive steps to syncopation for the modern drummer (Van Nuys, California: Alfred, 1996), as well as many music charts. In the last portion of the session, I engage students in an open discussion about their progress, improvements and goals.

Ronen really rocks! He is terrific with my son who can tend to have a short attention span and be fidgety. His explainations of the lessons are clear for my son comprehend and he is very patient. The lesson at Ronen's home which is very welcoming and he leaves in a great neighborhood which is a plus.

James Walsh has helped me in more ways than can I could even imagine in the past 6 months I have trained with him. His challenges and ideas lit a creative spark in my mind, helping me express myself through playing the role of a character nicely (absolutely loving the accent practice i am being taught in). He has also provided a very therapeutic healing for my mental health, helping me to be more spontaneous and witty, instead of the wooden and mechanical person I once was.
James has a ridiculous amount of connections, resources and ideas at his hands, and gladly offers him to me to help me in my Method Acting. For those looking for a career in Acting, Comedy, or Film, James is definitely your man for opening several doors.
Throughout the months, he has been very supportive and encouraging, oftentimes doing welfare checkups on me throughout the week and showing me new ideas and techniques in film, acting and spontaneity. He demonstrates patience with learning curves, and gives good assignments to work on through the week for the next time you meet up. He also is understanding if you cannot make an appointment.
In terms of the actual classes, they are phenomenal. Many classes, when deliberately practicing, feel more like an actual In-the-moment conversation rather than a mechanical " Do this than that" layout. He gives a lot of good and fair feedback for improvement at the end of the class, and following the advice never failed to be right. Be prepared for time to fly, though, as 45 minutes will feel like 10, especially if you are REALLY in character and going back and forth with him on random topics, which almost make you feel like you have a hidden persona lol.
All in all, James is very experienced and skilled in teaching students of all walks of life, from aspiring actors/actresses to would be filmmakers to people simply looking to learn life skills that are invaluable to life, career, relationships and even mental health! There is something for all in this coach's teachings, provided you are wiling to put in the work. Phenomenal teacher and an all around great person!

I am fluent in Xylophone, Marimba, Hand Percussion (Congas, Djembe), Timpani, Classical Percussion, Drum Corps, etc., which is why I am also specifying here "Percussion".
Students will be taught an in-depth comprehensive curriculum covering topics such as hand technique, using many rudiments and many sticking exercises to develop their technique. We will focus on reading skills and rhythmic interpretation (listening), counting out rhythms so that the student can also educate themselves when listening to music or otherwise, and can go beyond specific lessons assignments to educate themselves further, outside of our class. We will also cover Drum Set coordination and many styles of music associated with it. For Mallet instruments, it is likely we will cover music theory along with of course musical scales, arpeggios, etc.
Carl grew up in Connecticut in a musical family. He found a great deal of enjoyment starting Drum Lessons in grade school where he noticed that this joy for music and rhythm contributed to a passion-inspired growth accelerating beyond his performance in other subjects. He was inspired by Classic and Progressive Rock artists throughout Junior High and High School, and began to take his growing passion more seriously, taking part in Marching, Symphonic bands, Wind and Jazz Ensembles. Carl made the All-State Orchestra in High School, and performed at an All-New England Orchestra while attending CCSU (Central Connecticut State University) and while studying Classical Percussion (Snare Drum, Marimba, Timpani) under the tutelage of Principal Percussionist at the Navy Coast Guard. After two years at CCSU, he transferred to Berklee College
of Music where he obtained his BA in Music Performance. While attending Berklee Carl explored Contemporary Drum Set styles within various ensembles and classes, focusing on Jazz, Latin, Funk, Fusion, and World Music, under the apprenticeship of artists such as Kenwood Dennard, Ian Froman, Jon Hazilla, Nancy Zeltsman, Casey Scheuerell. I've been playing drums since 2000. First I studied drums in Colombia with Shakira's former drummer Italo Lamboglia for 4 years and then when I moved here in US, I've kept refining my craft taking drum lessons at Miami Dade College, learning new techniques and so on.

play with many artists and bands as a freelancer, So I get to perform very often live in different venues all over South Florida. I also freelance at different T.V. Networks as a background drummer and percussionist for artists promoting their songs on TV shows. I have won drum contests and competitions on stores and online as well. Vir is beyond your typical vocal coach. He was a huge help on things like pitch accuracy and phrasing, but more than anything, his focus on getting me to tap into and harness my inner power has already paid huge dividends in my recordings and performances. My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.
I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.

My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. She loves going to Ray because he teaches her to play the songs that she likes. Now she plays so many songs for memory!! My son loves going to piano and is always excited to see Ray.
I pretty much teach all common areas of percussion. These include timpani, drum set, marching percussion, mallet percussion, concert percussion, and some world percussion.
Alex was born May 31, 1987. Since both of his parents were band directors, he grew up in a very musically inclined family. When he was 15 years old, during his freshman year of high school, he started studying percussion. A year later he began studying under Chad Kohler and continued to do so until 2009. During spring semester of 2009 he studied briefly under Richard Walker at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). In the fall of that year he then transferred to Butler University for an academic year and studied under Craig Hetrick and Jon Crabiel.
Beginning in 2011 Alex began studying attending University of Indianapolis and is currently studying under Paul Berns as well as Art Reiner. In addition to studying with them he has also went back to continue to study with his mentor Chad Kohler. In the time since Alex gr
aduated high school, he has been continuously presented with teaching opportunities. At the time, though, music was not looking like the best course of action for him. With the aid of Chad Kohler, Alex then began getting more involved with teaching percussion. Alex eventually went on to arranging his own parts for his students, as well as composing original percussion ensemble pieces. Alex is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Music Technology at IUPUI.
In the time since he has been out of high school, he has taught at a number of schools including the Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center, North Putnam Jr./Sr. High School, Broad Ripple Magnet School for the Arts & Humanities, and Lawrence Central. He has also taught at Arlington High School and Short Ridge High School.
When it comes to teaching music, what is known to be as the “Holy Trinity” comes to mind. While teaching I personally believe that it is important to challenge students just enough so that they are not discouraged and are still able to have fun.
The Holy Trinity plays a big role in this. What it consists of is embracing your students from all angles. This would be from ensembles and private lessons, which in turn then encourage them to practice. Ensemble, private lessons, and practicing are the three main categories that make up the “Holy Trinity.” And in using this, you can also be more involved with your students as well. It is always a good idea be friend your students as well and not just be the “teacher.” There is a great quote that goes like this, “They will never care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.” In which case has been proven to be very true time and time again.
It is important as a teacher to be able to inspire your students and to encourage them. Which is why I think it is important to be a good friend as well to your students. This way a kind of trust is formed and in turn can easily lead to the success of a music program. Also I do believe that it is important to expose students to as many forms of music as possible. This way they are not just stuck in one kind of mind set and if they choose to go into music for their career, then they have many different experiences they can pull and relate from. Plus they will also have some more knowledge of different cultures and music genres that can help not only create better music but also be more overall worldly in their personal life out side of music. Being able to learn about music is very important, and can easily impact a student’s life in many different ways that most subjects just do not have the capability to. This is what I believe about learning music and why I also love to teach it. I want my students to be able to have all the same great experiences I have had and more. Which is why I personally believe so heavily in a good music education.
*** Lesson Details *** Although the approach to teaching that I use comes across as being pretty laid back, I do expect what some might consider to be a lot out of my students. This is because I want to make sure that my students will be successful as musicians.
While a student is studying with me; they will learn about percussion from multiple angles. They will learn and be able to understand many basic music theory terms and principles. They will also learn how each percussion instrument is tied to one another in technique and how to easily transition from instrument to instrument.
Depending on the age of the student, after about three months of studying with me, the student will know a few major scales, most of the standard American rudiments, and some basic drum set concepts. After 6 months, the student will know all 12 major scales, be familiar with all 40 snare drum rudiments, and know a good portion of basic drum set.
Please keep in mind that results may vary depending on the age of the student and the amount of practicing they do on their own. Results also depend upon whether or not they are practicing correctly, which is something they will also learn how to do with me.

Alex is Very knowledgeable. He was great with my 13-year-old daughter. She learns a lot from him and really enjoys working with him. He is very good teacher and very patient. I like the fact that he gives her specific homework to work on. I look forward to working with him for a long time.

My progress regarding percussion (which I've been working with for over 4 years) has increased exponentially since working with him. Not only will he highly recommend essential practice, but he's willing to give you various strategies to manage time and to be able to fit the practice in.
