About Eric
Every great artist needs a great coach, I'll help you to be the best!

I began my partnership with takelessons in 2013 and teach my students at my home teaching studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My studio is comfortable and creative.

As a highly experienced online music instructor (Takelessons Live, Skype, FaceTime and G+) I’ve helped Takelessons launch/beta test exciting new teaching platforms. I began teaching music as a teenager and have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have had the pleasure of coaching well-known musicians/celebrities, being an on-set tutor for feature films, and coached singers through their recording sessions. I treat my novice/hobbyist students with the same enthusiasm and professionalism as my advanced students, giving my very best to all my clients.

Additionally, I work with many stu
dents to prepare for high school/college/conservatory admission, casting calls for TV/Film, major tour auditions, and industry showcases.
______________

I'm the vocalist, lead guitarist & songwriter for a well-known touring rock band with a worldwide fan base and nearly 4 million You Tube views. I graduated from New York University with Bachelor's of Music in Jazz guitar and trained with the most highly respected rock/pop vocal coaches in the world. In 2015, I signed a major label publishing deal with Fieldhouse Music/BMG played throughout Europe (and taught online lessons while away). My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, VH1, Oxygen, TBS and more), commercials for CBS, Nike, Coca-Cola, Samsung and in video games. I actively perform/record and tour with my (3) bands, and produce/co-write with artists for their own projects.

I’m endorsed by PRS guitars, Elixir Strings, Godin Guitars/Bass Guitars, & Metaldozer Mic Stands.

Styles I regularly teach include: Rock (Classic Rock, Indie Rock, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock), Metal, Punk, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Funk, Soul, Classical, Folk.

With my line development/phrasing techniques, you will have your own library of “licks” that will help you navigate both simple and sophisticated harmonic progressions. ∙ time signatures, walking bass lines,

All of my students learn:

Sight reading (standard notation/tablature)
∙ music theory & ear training
∙ rhythm / timing (including reading rhythms)
∙ composition/songwriting

We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on technique. Many of my students text/email me a few days prior to our scheduled lesson with a song selection for the week. I focus our lesson's technical study with the song in mind. It has proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less "boring."

Eric is awesome. He is very professional and has great technical knowledge and knows how to apply it to help others learn how to use proper application while singing. He also has a great earI thoroughly looked forward to all his lessons and he was also very flexible.
This kind of stuff isnt always easy through an online medium, but he has a deep understanding of the voice and a trained ear, and he makes it work with a big bag of tricks. 10/10.

I teach all sub-genres of blue...Texas, Chicago, Jump, slide, jazz-blues, and blues/rock. I have been teaching this style for 15 years.

I am very patient and adjust areas of study to fit my students goals.

About Kimberly
I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. Af
ter the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG bio:

... there are also elements of Jimi Hendrix (arguably the first true heavy metal/hard rock artist), Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan in her playing, and she clearly has a strong appreciation of jazz--not only jazz-rock fusion improvisers like John Scofield, Larry Coryell and Mahavishnu Orchestra founder John McLaughlin, but also, straight-ahead bop favorites such as Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.......eclectic outlook is one of her strong points; her ability to move from a tough, aggressive blues-rock groove to a more cerebral, fusion-minded approach to the occasional soul-jazz/hard bop number has made for some very unpredictable albums.

I have been teaching full-time for the past 15years. I have taught all ages and popular styles. In 2008, my blues guitar method was published and distributed through Amazon.

*** Lesson Details ***
I incorporate a tailored curriculum to help people achieve their personal goals. Learning music is not a "one-size fits all" proposition. I can show you the songs that you want to play. I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvisation, reading and more. I adjust your course of study according to your areas of interest. If you are dying to learn a Led Zeppelin tune, or are planning on auditioning for a college level jazz guitar program, I can help you achieve these goals. I have taught hundreds of beginners along side more advanced students. My students have gone one to study music at GIT, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College, Berklee, Cal State LA, and USC.

Most of all, I am extremely patient. The ability to playing a musical instrument is measure on a calendar, not on a watch. I often work at a slow, systematic pace. I am generally very laid-back. On the other hand, if you learn very quickly, I can readily show you the skills you need to meet your goal. I have fast-tracked many individuals that were seeking admittance to an academic program.

My teaching studio is computer equipped. This allows me to incorporate computer software that enhances learning. One such program, Band in a Box, generates accompaniment for students so that they can work on their soloing skills. Another program can slow recorded music down so that the student can practice slowly with it. Also, I often give out play-along practice CDs for improved learning.

The aspect of performance is often not addressed by many. I am able to work with my guitar students while accompanying by performing live bass or drum parts, or work with bass students while playing the guitar or drum parts. This allows the student to understand his or her roll in an live band.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dedicated music room room w/ guitars, bass, drum set, pa system, and seating for parents

*** Specialties ***
I teach all popular guitar and bass styles.
I am a expert in Jazz, Blues, and R&B. (degree in Studio/Jazz guitar)

I really like Kimberly because she lets me pick my own songs to learn and is really nice in general. She makes music sheets for me to take home and study and I’ve learned a lot from her since my first lesson. I think she is a great music teacher and I hope anybody who wants to take guitar lessons will give her a shot.

I teach every student the technical skills and applied theory necessary to work in any contemporary style on guitar. I use the "Be better than you have to be" approach. Want to be the best on a bad day? Be better than your chosen style requires. I studied classical and jazz in order to excel at rock, folk and blues.
You will learn to read music and charts for guitar, as well as movable scale patterns, movable chord forms, and how to apply it all to master the fretboard.
Have you hit a road block? I can help. Are you brand new and want to be sure you understand the instrument completely? I can help.

About Phil
I've taught both privately and in the classroom (in schools from Pre-K to college, and through workshops), and have been a working musician and teacher for more than 25 years. I have a degree in music from Columbia College Chicago (Summa Cum Laude). My students have included everyone from absolute beginners to working professionals like myself. Many of my beginner students have also gone on to careers in music.

My approach in private instruction involves tailoring the lessons to the specific needs of each student, while making sure that he/she has the knowledge and technique to succeed in their creative endeavors. Whether it's a hobby or a potential career, I leave nothing out. You will learn the entire instrument. In cases where a student works in more than one subject, one session can typically be applied to all/both of them. I striv
e to help every student find their own creative voice, while building the skill sets required to work in any style of music.

As a writer, I've written for everything from music publications to LinkedIn, and have an award-winning nonfiction book that chronicles my journey as an independent musician.

As an entrepreneur, I've had several non-music businesses on the side over the years, and have weathered every twist and turn of the music industry for more than 30 years. My indie record label, founded in 1994, is breaking new ground by empowering artists to have a hand in their own business success while never compromising their art.

As a public speaker, I started speaking in church at age 9. I have spoken to audiences large and small about everything from music education and the music business, to dealing with addiction, to the teachings of engaged Buddhism.

Please feel free to contact me with the "Ask Phil a Question" button on my profile here. This can include questions about my method, or regarding days and times for lessons. What you see in my availability here is based on my schedule away from TakeLessons. I have students elsewhere and perform shows regularly. I may have additional times available and tend to have some flexibility. I teach worldwide online. Just ask.

As soon as you're ready to book lessons, you can use the Green Button after selecting your area of study, day and time. I will receive a notification that you've signed up. I will then confirm with you and send a questionnaire regarding your lesson needs within 48 hours.

Thanks for your interest.

I look forward to working with you!

After only a few lessons with David I've gotten a greater understanding of music theory than I had in my few years of early piano training. He is patient and flexible with his style of teaching. If it's taking me awhile to understand a concept he's good at explaining it more clearly. I definitely recommend him for learning the piano!

I was introduced when he recorded an EP for my band and since then, we've spent many an evening talking about performing, recording, teaching and making music. I am passionate about seeing students grow. I strive to be energetic yet patient when teaching to create a comfortable dynamic in my lessons that encourages excitement about music.
I have been playing guitar for 9 years, and have performed professionally with groups playing styles ranging from jazz, country, rock, blues, funk, and even musical theatre. I am capable of teaching beginners as well as intermediate students.
My lessons encourage a strong knowledge of fundamentals, so that a student can continue to develop years down the road with their acquired understanding of music, but I also am also careful to tailor lesson material according to a student's interests, personality, and natural learning methods.

About Chris
Are you interested in being able to confidently play lead and rhythm parts in a band? Want to learn to write songs? Want to learn to just strum along to your favorite records by yourself? I will teach you or your child all of the knowledge and tools needed to do whatever your dream is on your instrument. My aim is to help every student achieve their personal goals on their instrument within the context of a relaxed and patient environment that promotes a love of music!

I achieve this by:

1) Individualizing lesson plans so that each student stays engaged and learns in the style that is best for them as learners.

2) Ensuring that students learn BOTH how to play their instrument as well as the theory behind what they are playing. This creates a more well-rounded musician that is capable of problem solving on their instrument an
d being able to play in a variety of settings.

I have been playing music for over 10 years and teaching private lessons since 2014. My professional performance experience includes solo guitar gigs, rock band shows, musical theatre pit work, dance band playing, plus various gigs in Nashville, around the Eastern United States, and even in Scotland!

I graduated from Belmont University in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Commercial Music, so I have had the "conservatory training" in regards to music theory and history, but before college I was largely a self taught player and am now a professionally performing musician here in Nashville.

Chris is an awesome teacher! I have been taking lessons with Chris for a few months. Have been working on some ear training stuff that other instructors maybe would not have taken the time to work with me on! Working on hearing and playing the divided sky by phish right now not an easy piece of music. Also working on more phrasing and country blues licks and theory. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone👍🎸

I have a fluid teaching approach based on my REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE with an emphasis on improving technique, musicianship and a “truth is love approach” to ensure musical improvement within the first two weeks of lessons! I sincerely believe creating music should be a joyful & fulfilling experience and one that will be a positive change in someone’s life (as it has been for mine). I teach all genres of music on multiple instruments and specialize in audition preparation, real-life gig preparation and musical mastery. I want my students to reach their musical potential and aspirations, while having a good time doing something that they love.

About Wade
I am a GRAMMY Nominated educator, trumpeter, guitarist, bassist, pianist, singer/songwriter, composer/arranger, drummer and recording artist. I work with brass players, improvisors, singers, guitarists/bassists, pianists, drummers & songwriters/producers/composers in a wide age & stylistic range and assorted skill levels with a variety of musical goals. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music
using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student. My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun. I can help any student to play or sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.

As a professional recording artist I have frequently taken trips to New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and many more cities for co-writing, recording, gigging and meeting with record labels. Wade Baker was a great trumpet instructor. One thing I noticed and liked a lot from the moment I met him was that he connected with his students to create a better musical experience. Only good things came out of my lessons and rehearsals with him. I was only under his instruction for a year, but I grew a lot as a player with the help from him and also learned more about music than I ever did before. Wade is a very experienced player in multiple genres of music and he makes sure to use all of what he learned to teach his students. The only downside to being under his instruction was how busy he could be at times, but as a musician myself I completely understood. I would recommend Wade to anyone with how great my experience was with him.

Julian is the man! I started learning guitar from him a while ago and I can't believe how far we've come. I can now play some songs by myself, even learn them without his assistance. I had this idea that I wasn't cut for music making (I used to play some violin when I was younger, never got any good at it) but I couldn't resist the idea of learning how to play some guitar. Thanks to Julian (and his patience!) I no longer feel like I'm unable to do this. Take a lesson with him, you wont regret it!
