Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/piano/music lessons.
I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 20 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.
I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.
Other subjects taught include bass guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.
Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunit
y to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.
During 1996-98 I studied jazz guitar at the New World School of the Arts music program under the direction of J.B. Dyas and Dr. Roby George. Upon graduation, I was immediately accepted to the University of Miami jazz guitar program under the direction of Randall Dollahan. It was during this time that I also refined my skills as a classical guitarist and as a composer/arranger. In addition, I began passing my knowledge onto friends and eventually began working as a teacher.
My ability to play almost any genre of music is the fruit of past experience playing with an impressive variety of music groups, including jazz combos, symphony orchestras, Andean world music ensembles, and several rock and pop groups as well. As a studio guitarist I have recorded for various artists including Jaci Velasquez, Carlos Ponce, Alexandre Pires, and Noelia.

Every one of you is unique and there are many possible paths to reach your goals in music.
With my background and music industry experience, I am able to customize my lessons for you so that you can reach your desired goals. We will take some time to find out where your passion lies in music and I will use my experience and knowledge to create a customized lesson-plan that will allow us to focus on reaching your desired goals and at the same time maintain a well rounded music education.
I find this to be key in making the lessons and your practice sessions very enjoyable, fun and laid back - knowing that everything we practice, play and talk about is in line with your goals as a student.
I will also be playing along with you and demonstrating everything that we're working on - music is meant to be shared and played with others and it is important to have that experience of interaction from early on in your lessons.
So whether it's learning to accompany yourself or others, write songs, read music, understand harmony, solo, or just jam out to your favorite songs, you will be well on your way to reaching your goals within 6 months of my lessons.
Look forward to making music with you!

Just what the doctor ordered. Someone that can walk the walk!!!!! Well worth the money. Knows subject and great demeanor. Looking forward to future lessons.
rasgueado is the quick down/up percussive strumming you'll hear in flamboyant guitar music
I teach all styles of guitar, as I have been in many different types of music situations: Soloist (Classical) Ensemble (Classical and Jazz) Lead and Rhythm (Various Rock and Roll bands) Songwriting and Recording. I am a people person that learned the guitar from many different sources. Most of my learning came from watching others and communicating with others. I like to learn about the people I am teaching so that I can better understand their needs as a musician. My education came as a practical necessity in order to get better as a teacher and performer, as well as make a living doing it. But, by no means do I preach the need to be "educated" but only to be a working, practical musician. I will surely go over the need to read music once the need becomes evident, enlighten you as to why it may be important to understand certain aspect
s of music as opposed to just "picking and grinning", IE learning only "By Ear." I do specialize in music theory, and have many students taking lessons simply for this excellent foundation for songwriting also.
I am a classically trained guitarist that performs both as a soloist and for ensemble in a wide variety of styles. I graduated in 1996 from Schoolcraft College with an Associates degree in Music performance, and then, studying under the tutelage of Brian Roberts went on to receive my Bachelor's degree in Guitar Performance with a secondary in Jazz from Wayne State University in 2004. While at Wayne State and along the way I've performed and participated in several masterclasses with renowned artists: William Kanengiser, John Holmquest, Philip Candelaria, Jason Vieaux, Scott Tennant, and Antigoni Goni. I have also completed the teacher requirements for books 1-a and 1-b for the Suzuki Guitar Institute.
Many of my classical guitar and electric guitar students have went on to study further at the collegiate level, some achieving scholarships. My most recent students are current Berklee school of music graduates now in a band called "Flight of Fire", recently opened for Bonjovi this past summer and are getting air time on local radio stations... well on their way to living the dream! â¦the bulk of my students become full time professional musicians.
*** Lesson Details *** I am an extremely patient person who has been teaching for over 20 years. I am laid back so there will be no pressure. With my electric and steel string guitar students, I host a special "Jam Session" 2 - 3 times a year to which will be one of your goals to participate in. This includes playing with a drummer, bassist, singer and another guitar player (usually me) and having it recorded. This should serve as your motivation to practice. This really eliminates the need for me to pull out a "yardstick" and "smack" your hands over the knuckles when not practicing your scales as many old traditional teachers may have done!
At your first lesson I will talk with you and give you examples of music that is played with a Flat-Pick, or music that uses the Finger-Style technique. This will be an important process as it will dictate which direction you will go in as a musician and especially during our lessons.
For the most part, playing with a Flat-Pick is generally used with the electric guitar and with most mainstream styles of music like "Rock and Roll", "Blues", "Rock-a-Billy" "Funk", and playing with the Finger-Style technique is used in styles like "Classical" and "Folk." After a while, I will introduce you to the other style of playing as well, as most great guitar players use both techniques in their playing...musicians (guitarists) such as: âJimmy Pageâ, âBrian Setzerâ, âStevie Ray Vaughanâ, âJoe Satrianiâ, âLindsey Buckinghamâ, âPaul McCartneyâ, âJohn Mayerâ, and many, many more.
To make learning the guitar Fun, I make sure to incorporate your main interest(s) first. Whether it be learning your new favorite song(s), learning how to write a song, or just learning some basics that you can use for when sitting around the campfire. This will be intertwined with which style you choose to start with: Flat-Pick or Finger-Style.
Pending on the level that you are starting at, (beginner, intermediate, advanced) I will include tidbits of music theory that will be used in a consistent manner. These will usually be progressive, pending on your level. For example, the songs you learn will be written out in an easy to understand chart that will have the fundamental aspects of theory (IE, chords, key, and rhythm pattern) that all musicians should understand.
With Children learning with a Flat-Pick, I encourage the use of a basic guitar instruction book. Level One (beginners) :
"Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book One" by Will Schmid.
I will also use as a substitute for Level One: "Alfred's Basic Guitar Method" by Alfred's Publishing Co.
More advanced players who can read music already (and graduates from book one) I prefer; "Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book Two"
With Adults, I will ask if learning to read music interests you. It is a vital part of a practicing musician, but sometimes your needs may require a more one dimensional approach as time may be of essence. Again, I learned by ear and educated myself later...so I understand the person who wants to hold off on reading right away.
Students who want to learn the Classical (Finger-Style) approach will be encouraged to purchase a beginners book that I use written by one of my first instructors/mentor. It is a very intuitive book that covers the technique in great detail yet is very easy to understand (along with my help.) I will provide means of acquiring this book at your first lesson.
Students who want to learn the Folk (Finger-Style) approach will usually start in the above book, unless your an adult who just wants to learn some basics.
At your first lesson I will also provide you with documentation that goes more in depth about the various styles of guitar as the above info is scaled down.

I only got to take lessons from Marc for a couple of months in the summer of 2016 (I had to move away for work), but he is hands down the best music teacher I've ever encountered. It's a year and a half later and I'm still benefitting from his tutelage. From beginner to advanced, you've found the right guy for the job.

Marc is a great classical guitar teacher. He makes learning fun and easy. I highly recommend him.
An improvisational art like that is played from the heart and not from sheet music. I am familiar with the basic forms and techniques
My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet. I played my first paying job at age 14. When I was 15, my private instructor, asked me if I would be interested in teaching. He put me on the County list of private instructors and and soon I had my own thriving studio of Sax and Clarinet students. From that time on, I have almost continuously been involved in music education. Though I had listened to the rock "guitar gods" of the 60's I never became interested the guitar until, at the age of 15, I first heard Maestro Andres Segovia through his televised master classes. About the same time, I was amazed by the chord
melody genius of jazz artists like George Van Eps, Joe Pass, and Bucky Pizzarelli. It was then I realized that the guitar could be an "orchestra." In the small town where I grew up, there were no guitar teachers so I studied with outstanding Guitarist Ed McGuire. Later, I studied formally with several renowned professors of guitar, including Bruce Holzman at FSU and Randy Reed, a professor at Duke University in Durham North Carolina. I have also performed in Master Classes for Classical Guitarists Atigoni Goni and Dimitri Diatchenko. Before making North Florida my home, I toured and played throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast in a variety of venues and styles from Rock to Jazz to R&B. Even after settling down I have stayed active in the music business, playing and teaching. I continue to work regularly performing solo, or in ensembles throughout Florida from Tallahassee to Jacksonville.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a laid back teacher who prefers to motivate my students by instilling my love of, and enthusiasm for, music in them rather than using any kind of "scare" tactics. I had a very few "knuckle rapper" style teachers over the years and found them to be very unmotivating. A large percentage of the progress a student makes happens between the lessons. The more they practice, the faster they improve. I also believe in building a solid foundation that my students can build upon. A good teacher teaches a student how to teach themselves. On guitar, I encourage, but don't insist on, my students learning to read music. Some styles of guitar do not require it, but I do mention the gigs I have gotten over the years because I could read. On all instruments, I am a big believer in great technique, musicianship and improvisational skills.
*** Studio Equipment *** Studio is in back of the house as an addition. It has its own separate entrance and is approx 160 sq feet. Well lit and with heat and air.
*** Travel Equipment *** I will provide a music stand if needed. Students must have their own instrument. They will need to get their own books, though I do provide much supplemental material.
I have been Randall's student for a few years. Randall is very knowledgeable about music and an excellent teacher. Additionally, Randall is courteous, professional, and punctual. I highly recommend Randall as your new music instructor.
July 14, 2017
Randall has been teaching my son clarinet for the past 2 years in his home and we couldn't be more pleased with my son's outcome. He knows how to work With students and get them to advance to their highest potential.
July 14, 2017
Randall has been teaching guitar to my 12 year-old son for about 3 years. He is very knowledgeable and patient. He knows and can teach many different styles of music on several different instruments. I highly recommend Randall for students of any age.
If you are ready to take your music skills SERIOUSLY then stop wasting time and money on teachers who don't fully understand the instrument themselves. My name is Russell Steedle and I have been playing guitar professionally for 20 years and teaching music and producing records for over 10. I have worked with artists such as Mac Miller, Sean Kingston, Lifehouse, Disney's Caityln Taylor Love and have composed music to 100s of your favorite TV shows! Want to learn to shred? produce? write? dive into theory?
Russell Steedle is an American Platinum-Selling record producer / songwriter / and guitarist based in Los Angeles, CA. With his first #1 Billboard record under his belt and previous clients such as Mac Miller, Sean Kingston, and Red Velvet, Russ has found endorsements and support from major music companies such as Fender and Dean Markley strings, Russell has toured the US opening for National Artists playing for audiences as large as 30,000.
In 2012, Russ signed with Mach 1 Music and learned the ropes of the music industry as a part of a team selling over 19 million records worldwide. Soon after, Russ joined TV/Filmsound powerhouse “Signature Tracks” (signature - tracks.com) through which he has produced over 650 songs for networks such as Disney, MTV, VH1, BET, ABC, NBC, CBS, and many many more
Currently Russ performs with and p
roduces talent from all over the world including Grammy Award winning artists and songwriters The Jackie Boyz, Chart Topping Artist Sean Kingston, Disney's Caitlyn Taylor Love and many more!
Russ is a truly exceptional individual and very knowledgeable in all aspects of music theory, production and the industry. Not only is he an great at what he does, but he can also relate and impart that knowledge onto others - a skill that is surprisingly rare among high-caliber performers. The price per lesson seems higher than average at first glance, but I feel that the speed and amount of knowledge you acquire per dollar is actually lower than that of other instructors. Really.
He is also active in the industry, so the skills he teaches are current.
I take lessons with Russ online through Skype for EDM production in FL Studio. He is always punctual and promptly communicates if anything comes up. His teaching style carefully balances the need to provide guidance, while allowing freedom for individual artistic development. Every week, I start a composition or track analysis project that applies what I've learned in previous lessons, and I will submit it to Russ to discuss things that went well and things to work on in the future. In this way, you are not just being lectured, but you are actually learning to collaborate with an exceptional musician. I've personally experienced how constant application and feedback facilitates rapid learning.
He certainly is a serious musician, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a fun personality. He is engaging and inspirational.
I would, without reservation nor hesitation, highly recommend Russ to anyone who is interested in professional music production.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.
I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.
*** Lesson Details *** My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.
Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student. Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students. A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.
An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.
I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.
*** Specialties *** I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and challenge them, as well. I also have new techniques for teaching Electric, Acoustic & CLassical Guitar. I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.
I started taking guitar lessons for the first time 10 months ago and am thankful I found such a great teacher in Ahmad. His positive attitude and love of music helps me stay engaged and lessons are productive and fun.
One of the great things about Ahmad is he listens to you and adjusts lesson content based on the feedback you provide. His ability to listen allows Ahmad to deliver a personalized lesson plan that incorporates your goals and gets you excited about what you are working on.
Ahmad also has taught me techniques to prevent and address minor aches that come up while learning to play. He takes this seriously and shows you how to prevent and resolve any issues that come up.
Overall, taking lessons from Ahmad has been a very positive experience. I look forward to continuing working with him to get better.

I have been taking guitar lessons with Ahmad Since 2011. Music has always been important to me and my lessons with Ahmad have been a continual source of inspiration and joy. I love Ahmad's musical philosophy and regardless of what I'm interested in he is always able to help me better myself. I continue to be very busy in my life but always find myself coming back to music. Through taking lessons with Ahmad I have been able to achieve many of my musical goals and know that if I keep practicing I will be able to achieve even more of my goals.
Ahmad is extremely talented, intelligent, and friendly and is always there to support me in whatever new musical concept I wish to learn next. He can help anyone looking to better themselves in a wide variety of areas regardless of the style of music you are interested in. I have been studying country and jazz with him primarily, as my goal is to be able to write my own music and put together a band some day. I have no intention of stopping music lessons with Ahmad as they continue to be something I look forward to every week. Anyone would be lucky to have such a great teacher.

I've had the pleasure of taking lessons from Ahmad for a couple of years. He is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor with the ability to find minor technical flaws in my playing and easily correct them. I really enjoy his philosophy and musical understanding with a really high ability to dissect and explain elements of a song and relate it to music theory that's easily understandable. On top of that he is a super nice guy that exudes nothing but a positive attitude and gives one the impression that anything is possible in one's musical effort that is really infectious. Don't hesitate to give Ahmad a try.
Music has been a long-term experience and delight. I've been playing the guitar for over a dozen of years. I've played spanish, classical, folk, rock, blues, jazz, and popular songs. I teach mainly beginners, I could also teach intermediate and we can learn scales, chords, tabs, notation and technique. With me it's more than technique that brings flare of scenery to the audience, it's more being speedy (which is cool), or making the lady's swoon. Although the latter is true, the heart is where everything comes from. How you perceive guitar, owning up to practice, and being a devoted, ever persevering musician. Easier said than done, walk with the instrument along-side.
Hello, My name is Zade! Music has been a long-term pleasure of growth for the experience of a lifetime, living in an environment of melodious musical harmonies and participating in performing arts. I learned to play the violin, attended to the Suzuki string institute of Utah and pursued in the art of guitar not long after. Songwriting and music theory became an interest because I wanted to write my own pieces. I took part in the orchestra, choir, band ensemble as well as jazz with the Salt Lake Community College and have been teaching orchestra and band classes to elementary students for a couple of years with the Riverton Music partnership program. To this day I still play and teach just the same while studying in financing till I may get the proper education necessary, and that which I'm most interested in.

First and foremost I want to congratulate you for choosing to follow a path in the Arts! Music is one of the most sacred skills humans possess for no other species on the planet truly comes close to mimicking this treasured ability.

I invite you to listen to music, explore different genres and make your mind up as to what you would like to play. Sound is everything so that is my first goal and the hardest to achieve being from a distance. My anecdotes will prove to be useful in getting you to produce the best possible tone quality on the

Finally reading and basic music theory is the essential skill that separates men from minnows in the sense of making music consistent. The discipline necessary to do this is minimal but important. I trust that you will excel in my class because my methods are tried and true. If at the end of the first lesson you feel you will not progress on your mission with me I completely understand but do think that will be unlikely as I want to share with you my deepest thoughts on how this can be done and in return you will receive the best education possible.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to providing you with some great lessons!
"I don't know how I got so lucky to find one of the few teachers in the area that not only enjoys playing but also teaches flam
enco guitar. Mark is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, multi-talented and endlessly patient, a crucial quality for a thick-headed adult student like me. He takes his work seriously and conducts himself very professionally, but still manages to make every lesson a lot of fun. Amazingly, I am learning to play the guitar, which I never thought I could. Highly recommended.""
"Awesome! Highly recommend"
"I am currently taking lessons from Antonio and have had a great experience. Antonio focuses a lot on flamenco and classical technique and music as well
as practicing performing, applied to any music genre. Because of how shy I am its been hard for me to perform but with the lessons I have received the confidence to perform for family and friends! He is a great guitarist, very recommended!"
"I have been studying Spanish Guitar with Ed for 3 or 4 years and he is one of the best instructors I have ever worked with. He is a gifted player and perf
ormer and his work ethic and professionalism as an instructor are unmatched.
I am probably one of Ed's more challenging students due to my hectic schedule which interferes with my practice time but we have covered a lot of ground studying basic techniques and styles such as Flamenco, Rumba, Bulerias, Sevillanas, and Tango. Ed is always prepared and is uncannily able to pick up our lessons exactly where we left off the week before. He is able to diagnose problems with technique and work with me to correct them and suggest practice methods to improve technique and the musicality of the performance. Fortunately I have many technical issues so Ed will be gainfully employed for some time on my account!
Ed performs regularly and has a large repertoire in popular music as well as flamenco guitar. I have seen him perform with a flamenco dance group and he was brilliant. I asked him to perform at a small event I helped organize and his performance was enjoyed by all. I highly recommend Ed as a flamenco guitar instructor or as a performer."
"It was a very good session. Although it’s quite a challenge to see the exact strokes and finger movements online during the class"
"Had some platform issue to start even though I'd prepped and tested days in advance, called Ben and patiently got me onboard. He let the lesson go on for
extra time to make up for the glitch at the start. In the lesson, he has patience with beginners and still covered a LOT of new techniques (new to me anyway.) Got me psyched up to learn. Already looking forward to next lesson."
"BEST GUITAR TEACHER EVER!!
I have been playing neuvo flamenco for several years and I have had several guitar instructors. None of them come close to Jax
on. Most of my teachers were very good guitar players but not great at teaching - Jaxon is not only a great guitarist but a fantastic teacher. He has the ability to look at every aspect of my guitar playing (technique, posture, composition, etc) and greatly improve it. I highly recommend him to any level of guitarist. He will make you a better guitarist!"
"If you want to learn how to play flamenco guitar (and how to accompany a flamenco dancer), Edward is your teacher.
If you are a flamenco dancer (and wa
nt to learn how to improve your compass), Edward is your teacher.
He will encourage your progress in a facilitative and positive manner.
I recommend him wholeheartedly."
I have been playing with my guitar for 15 years. I have tried a few teachers and they were ok. But I never felt as connected to wanting to
learn and improve as I do with Juan. His approach feels perfect, not aggressive nor placid. Never do you feel out of place even when time doesn't allow one to practice. I didn't just find a guitar teacher but I also found a friend and music mentor."
Falling in love with the sounds of flamenco guitar is easy, but this instrument is fun to learn and play too! In this article, we'll help you learn the basic terms and techniques for flamenco guitar.
Some folks get interested in flamenco through its virtuosic guitar playing, rhythmic dancing and colorful dresses, or the expressive nature of Gypsy singing. For guitarists of other styles, playing flamenco is among the most respected styles in the world thanks to its sound, tonality, and tec …
