Hire Concetta, especially to support a beginning violin player! She is warm, professional and very adept at finding your child's musical strengths and then identifying material to help them access and enjoy the music and instrument. I love teaching students what THEY want to learn, while providing them with a solid foundation on their instrument. I will cater the lesson to the needs of the student and make it fun, because music is meant to be fun. I can help students learn music of their choice, or I can come up with some music to get them started. If they want to to learn music by ear, read music, improvise, or learn new tunes, I love teaching all of those things!

I will teach you how to approach the mandolin as a rhythm instrument as well as a melodic instrument, and how to use chords and modes in your lead and rhythm playing in bluegrass as well as traditional styles.

About Steve

Music has been a part of my life for over 4 decades. I stepped onstage when I was 15, and have been active in the music business ever since. I was raised in the New York / New England area, and played in many bands in the 70's and 80's, most notably the band AVALON. I moved to Florida in the late 8

I could not have found a better instructor- worth every penny. I was worried about committing to 5 lessons on this site without meeting the teacher, but after meeting Steve I knew I found the right teacher. He takes the time to explain everything in detail and is patient while you learn. Never at any point did I feel like I made a "mistake" or I was doing something wrong- he gently just tells you where you need to get eventually. Will go as far into detail as you want to go. Very talented player- he just gets "it".

"I am a new student -- and have never learned to play an instrument. I was encouraged by medical providers to learn an instrument as part of certain of my cognitive therapies. My instrument (the mandolin) was a gift from my son.
I have been fortunate to work with Sean O. G. Burns over the past few months. His style is perfect for my needs. He is patient, and leads with a gentle push -- no pressure! Sean is incredibly talented in his own right musically, and has talents - I'm sure, well beyond my needs -- I see him as an excellent teacher for all ages!"
