I focus on your interests as a guitarist, and develop the lessons from there. I really listen and get to know you as a guitarist, a songwriter, a bandmate - however you see yourself, and help you achieve your dreams. All my lessons are rooted in a firm grasp of music theory, proper guitar technique, and a deep understanding of music history.

I've been teaching private guitar and songwriting lessons for over 10 years and have been a performing professional guitarist for 15 years. I've earned a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Oregon and have performed all over the United States and Canada in one band or another. I have extensive experience as a recording artist, and my work has been featured in several full length albums, EP's and singles as well as several independent films. Enough about me! We all know that everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. My process is to analyze each student's unique abilities and to create a personalized learning experience for everyone. I have taught people from 5 to 83. I believe it is important to be empathetic to each person's needs, for example, I have experience teaching left-handed people, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's syndrome, people with missing fingers and other difficulties. Parents always ask me how I can be so patient with their kids, (the real secret is that I don't have to take them home ;) but on a serious note, I always remember the extreme amount of frustrating hours I put in before I got any real results. Hi fellow musicians! I am a professional touring musician, songwriter, and recording artist based in Austin, TX. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Mandolin Performance and a minor in American Roots Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Every musician has their own voice in this world. I want to work with you to mold and develop that voice with solid fundamentals and understanding of how music works. We will go over music theory and how it applies to your instrument and we will also touch on the mechanics of being a proficient player. All these things lead to being the best musician you can be!
