I have played guitar for almost 30 years and I've done concerts, performances and lectures in different states and also internationally. My biggest influences are Paco de Lucia and Tommy Emmanuel and I enjoy teaching guitar to any levels, ages and styles. My goal is to make sure my student will enjoy guitar lessons not matter how long it takes.
I am also the current guitar professor at Union College, Music Art Ambassador for Nebraska Arts Council, Guest teaching artist for John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Teaching Artist in Residence for The Lied Center.
I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my students. I like to see the progress of my students and how they grow into their music skills no matter the age.

At the end of every class, he sends me an email with notes and recordings of him showing how to play a piece, so I have access to all the tips and references from my classes.
Also, I love how he reminds me to rest my arm, play with minimal necessary tension, so that playing is comfortable!!
Finally, I find his calm, patient presence creates a good atmosphere for me to learn as I feel comfortable making a mistake while having guidance how to fix it.

My method is centered around having my students consistently learn new material, while retaining what they have learned. I’m sensitive to making sure they are challenged while also giving them material that will enable them to succeed. I customize each lesson to meet the needs and interests of each student. An example of a 45 minute lesson commonly includes the first 5 minutes being dedicated to checking in on how the practice went, and answering any questions the student may have about the material. Then there would be 15 minutes of review which would consist of finding which parts of the material are most challenging and finding the most effective way for the student to practice those parts and perfect the material. After that, there would be a three minute pause during which the student would listen to the new piece (whether it be material I introduced or material they suggested) so they can write down everything that they enjoyed and perceived about the new piece. Then there ...

I'm an Argentinian/American musician who decided to pursue music as a career when I was 8 years old. I had just seen Al Green perform at the Apollo and was awed by the incredible impact and joy music can have on people. With the support of my parents, who are musicians as well, I began studying wit

I typically use "The Art of Flamenco" by Juan Martin or Hal Leonard. These are great books that break down the flamenco techniques so the student can obsorb them easily. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

If you are a flamenco dancer (and want to learn how to improve your compass), Edward is your teacher.
He will encourage your progress in a facilitative and positive manner.
I recommend him wholeheartedly."

I have been playing with my guitar for 15 years. I have tried a few teachers and they were ok. But I never felt as connected to wanting to learn and improve as I do with Juan. His approach feels perfect, not aggressive nor placid. Never do you feel out of place even when time doesn't allow one to practice. I didn't just find a guitar teacher but I also found a friend and music mentor."

One would think that the discipline required to attain Ben''s level of ability would cause a person to get "stuffy" and dry . But a keen sense of humor, a quick wit and humility make time spent with Ben a pleasuraable learning experience."
