I have been recording & performing blues music since late 2004, & in that time I've acquired a lot of knowledge on the nuances involved in making blues music truly sing on the guitar. We will cover rhythm guitar approaches, chord voicing, when to play (& not to play), developing leads, & working/blending as an ensemble member of a blues band.
About Alex
I graduated from the University of St. Thomas "Cum Laude" in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, with minors in Music Production & Composition. While attending St. Thomas I served as the Music Theory tutor, as well as the live sound/stage/light/recording technician for student & faculty recitals.
I have been playing professionally & teaching for over a decade. My passion for music is something that I love to share with anyone else who feels inclined to make music. My goal is to share the skills & knowledge I've acquired throughout my experiences with those willing to learn & dedicate themselves
*** Lesson Details ***
I am experienced in most major genres of music: classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, folk, metal, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, instrumental rock, "shred," pop, world music, electronica, etc. & feel comfortable conveying the techniques, approaches & idioms to a student by breaking them down into digestible components, while making these new ideas relatable to material they are already familiar with.
In the end, I want the student to learn what they're most interested in learning. I'm here to answer any questions they may have & with my experiences, I feel confident that I will be able to either answer these questions or point them in the right direction. Some topics covered:
Scales/modes
Ear training
Instrument-specific techniques (ie bending, tapping, sweep picking, etc.)
Songwriting & Composition
Arranging & Orchestrating
Sight-reading
Improvisation
Chordal theory & how to read charts
Practice routines & approaches
Instrument maintenance
Instrument-based gear (guitars, amplifiers, effects, picks, slides, capos, etc.)
The student will learn at the pace they set for themselves & can only get out of it the amount of effort they put forth. I expect my students to practice on a regular basis (however brief each session may be). Consistency is key for progress to be made, & if they hold up their end of the bargain, the payoffs will be quite substantial!
*** Studio Equipment ***
Practice amplifier, tuner, music stand(s), guitar picks & cables.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide guitar neck paper. I expect the students to have their own instrument & any materials they may need to achieve the goals they've set for themselves (such as a weekly notebook).
*** Specialties ***
Progressive rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, funk, disco, classical, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, flamenco guitar; music theory, sight-reading, composition, songwriting, film scoring, music production.

I have a strong understanding of a strict, classical education, but never want the instrument to diminish the joy of music. I will not only teach a strong foundation of guitar, but will set you up to be able to be comfortable enough to perform and share your love of the craft with others.
Outside of just teaching the instrument, I can also teach how to approach studio situations, and getting the most out of the guitar tonally for whatever a song may need.
Overall I am just more than happy to share my love and passion of the instrument to others.

I learned music theory, jazz standards, improvisation, fingerstyle techniques, how to play and sing at the same time, and how to write and record my own songs. He inspired me to take on piano as a second instrument, initially through him but eventually through classically trained instructor.
What started as basic guitar lessons for a potential hobby turned into my tiny apartment becoming cluttered with musical instruments and audio recording equipment. For this I only have Eric to thank.

Touring guitarist, experienced composer for film/media, and professional music instructor for the past 8 years! I graduated Magna Cum Laude from McNally Smith College of Music with two bachelor's degrees; Guitar Performance and Instrumental Composition. I have taught students of literally all ages (4-76) and most specialize in guitar, music theory, and composition. I also teach beginner to intermediate piano lessons! My greatest strong suit as a teacher is my incredible flexibility in adapting to the student's learning style. Originally a self-taught guitarist, I know the struggles of learning or continuing to better oneself on an instrument. I guarantee you that I will work hard and patiently with you to help you reach your musical goals!

I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

About Ahmad
I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.
I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.
*** Lesson Details ***
My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.
Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.
An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.
I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.
*** Specialties ***
I teach the basic skills very strongly, and also encourage students and challenge them, as well.
I also have new techniques for teaching Electric, Acoustic & CLassical Guitar.
I do prefer to teach a weekly lesson.

About Jake P.
CloseExperienced teacher of 5 years, specializing in beginner/ intermediate guitar, voice and performance. All ages welcome. Whether you're looking to play the blues, serenade your crush, shred face-melting guitar solos, or any other smattering of skills, lessons will be catered to meet the individual goals of the student. Not to mention random bits of musical trivia, picked up from years of obsessive Wikipedia reading.
About Jake
I am currently studying Composition at Macalester College, but my experience goes far beyond the classroom. I sing in the advanced Concert Choir, as well as in Macalester's premier acapella group, and I am the frontman of a locally prominent band. I have been performing since I was 14, and have opened for several noteworthy artists, including Lion Babe, Lil' Dickie and T-Pain.
With me, students can expect to not only learn the guitar but also invaluable performance techniques, music theory, music history and more. Whatever your musical goals, be it acoustic songwriting like Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran, shredding guitar solos like Jimi Hendrix or Joan Jett, or intricate rhythmic strummings li

The lessons are about YOU and the music YOU want to learn. There are always certain aspects regarding technique and theory that encompass all musical genres, but I always try to put it in the context of the music YOU enjoy.
About Ian
My father is a professional studio and touring musician who worked with bands and artists such as Supertramp, John Denver, Dolly Parton just to name a few. He started hiring me at 16 years old to play piano on numerous projects getting my foot in many doors. I have since built my own career working as a songwriter, session musician, live performer, recording engineer, and teacher.
I have performed live or on records with John Robinson Jr. (drummer for Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, Quincy Jones, etc.) Abraham Laboriel (Bassist for Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancoc
I have written and recorded 60 plus songs that have placed in Television shows such as Access Hollywood, Dr.90210, Jack and Bobby, and others.
I was the musical director for Jillian Cardarelli (an up and coming Country music artist).
In the end, who I am to you is a musician passionate about teaching. It's the most rewording job I've ever had. So if you want a teacher who is excited to be teaching then I'm the guy for the gig.
