As a trained musician with a degree in music as well as a lot of professional playing experience, I offer a unique perspective to teaching guitar, both as a guitarist and a passionate educator.

Acoustic or electric, guitar or bass, beginner and beyond! I am a full-time singer-songwriter who has been playing guitar since 2002.
The best part that my students love is that I am left-handed- when I am showing them something on the guitar, it is like a mirror image for a right handed student, making it very easy to follow along with the exercise!
My lessons are custom tailored to my students according to what they are interested in working on. These lessons are done online, so no travel is involved.
All styles and age groups are taught!

Got the quarantine blues? Nowhere to go - nothing to do? Let's rock! There couldn't be a better way to spend your time than playing the guitar. It is beneficial to your mind and soul, and can lead you in many positive directions in life. My goal is to help cultivate excitement in my students, and to keep learning fun and interesting. We will focus on what it is that gravitates you to the guitar, and break down what you will need to learn to gain the freedom you are looking for. My aim is that you will always continue to pick up the guitar on your own out of the joy of playing, instead of feeling like you have to. The guitar doesn't have to be a rigid instruction, it is fun, free, creative and different for everyone!

Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary.
Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute.
I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly."

After struggling to teach myself to play the guitar, I realized that I had hit a wall in my self-instructed learning and I needed to find a guitar teacher. I found Phil through word of mouth - and I have made great progress under his tutelage.
If you want to learn to play the guitar, Phil is the teacher you want - if you just want to learn to play songs, well, there’s YouTube."

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.
Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him."

In order to properly respect and understand both the theory and structure of ANY kind of American music, it's essential to be able to play the blues. Although the form is said (by some scholars) to have originated in Africa within the story-telling traditions of village griots (historians/poets/musicians who would play a five-stringed instrument known as the halam, which …
