About Geoff

I played on a toy piano when I was very young, learning a bit of sight reading from my Mother, while listening to classical, jazz, and rock music. When I was 12, I learned guitar and later took private piano lessons from a prominent Philadelphia instructor. After playing in a rock band in high sc

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

We signed up our 10-year-old son for online lessons with Daniel when in-person lessons became challenging during the pandemic. We were not sure how effective the lessons would be, but we were excited about finding a teacher with musical interests that aligned with our son's (rock and up-tempo bluegrass).

Five lessons in, we are thrilled about the choice we made. Daniel has a great rapport with our son and has worked to really "get" him. Daniel has the kind of focus on bowing techniques that we were never able to get from a local violin teacher. He is also in touch between lessons, sending materials to help our fiddler develop specific skills. And he models the kind of enthusiasm for music that we want for our son.

We'll know more at the one-year mark than at the five-lesson mark, but right now we are really pleased with Daniel and recommend him very highly.

Our first lesson together was so much fun! Daniel is easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and seems ready to challenge me to grow musically. I’m looking forward to the lessons ahead!

I've been teaching mandolin for 4 years helping students develop a love for the instrument and learn more about music along the way. Mandolin is an often underappreciated instrument which is fantastic for both melodic and rhythmic playing styles. Within the first few lessons you'll have a solid base of strumming, picking, chord changes and melodic playing, with a couple simple songs too. Moving on from there I will craft lessons to move you toward a "goal song," making sure to cater your progress to your needs while keeping a focus on good technique. I enjoy working with students of all ages and experiences and I can't wait to meet you!

About Ryan

Ryan is a musician from Jefferson Park who plays a plethora of different instruments. He specializes in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele, but also dabbles in accordion, piano, drums, harmonica and several others. Learning to play instruments is one of the true pleasures in his life and he hopes

"Jeff rocks!

Jeff took me from a raw beginner to a performer. He's unique in that he tailors his teachings to YOUR needs and then does what it takes to help you reach your goal. Additionally, if you want a teacher who relates to your musical sensibilities, Jeff's the man. His immense and eclectic music collection indicates a very wide range of musical appreciation. Can't say enough, if need hand holding or a taskmaster you can't do better. If you're not local Jeff's worth the drive."

"Damien explains the concept very well and asks questions to find out how much I already know. He tailors the classes to my abilities (I used to play piano and guitar) and interests. I am inspired to practise the techniques so I can play the music I chose. Just my third lesson and Damien is already introducing “improvisation” and that I was ready as long as I practise my scales. Being taught by Damien is exhilarating. Very blessed."
