I have increased my lesson frequency to two one-hour sessions per week simply because of my progress under David's direction. After only three months of weekly lessons, I can now read music and play while reading. David has introduced me to effective melodic soloing, has significantly improved my understanding of barre chords up and down the fretboard, and has convinced me to abandon "guitaristic" thinking in favor of really understanding the potential of the guitar beyond shape memorization.

For those players serious about music, who are willing to devote the time and attention required to improve, and who appreciate not only learning to play guitar but the theory and history behind the music, David is your man. I have taken lessons in the past, usually consisting of a teacher asking what riffs I wanted to work on that day. Sound familiar? Not David. Within the first two weeks, he has me focused on plucking the strings with more feel, using a pick and fingers simultaneously with my right hand, practicing scales to the tempo of a metronome while using the forwards and backwards technique, etc. He has convinced me that I can become as accomplished a player as I put my mind and heart to. His mantra is to work towards playing at the speed of thought, which, for the first time in my life, looks to be a possibility with time. Thank you, David.

Just had my first lesson with David. Gave a wealth of info now it's up to me but with his approach I know it will be all good. Have had other teachers but David is not only an accomplished player he is also is able to instruct and teach. Will write again after a few more lessons.

My method is centered around having my students consistently learn new material, while retaining what they have learned. I’m sensitive to making sure they are challenged while also giving them material that will enable them to succeed. I customize each lesson to meet the needs and interests of each student. An example of a 45 minute lesson commonly includes the first 5 minutes being dedicated to checking in on how the practice went, and answering any questions the student may have about the material. Then there would be 15 minutes of review which would consist of finding which parts of the material are most challenging and finding the most effective way for the student to practice those parts and perfect the material. After that, there would be a three minute pause during which the student would listen to the new piece (whether it be material I introduced or material they suggested) so they can write down everything that they enjoyed and perceived about the new piece. Then there ...

I'm an Argentinian/American musician who decided to pursue music as a career when I was 8 years old. I can not say enough good things about David. HIs lessons are well thought out , special and geared towards the individual. His exceptional training really comes through during the lesson. More importantly, David's love of music is infectious and the lessons seem to fly by. I am most impressed with David's patience and enthusiasm when giving lessons to my son. My son has excelled under his guidance which is no small feat considering my son's substantial learning disabilities. That is perhaps David's biggest strength. David worked with my son to come to a teaching method that my son could comprehend and excel under. I am truly impressed and very grateful for the extra time and care he takes to make my son's lessons meaningful. I am available to address any questions a potential student may have . David is THAT good !!

In addition, in each lesson, he brings well-rounded information about the music, the artist, and guidance for feeling the emotion of the music. I highly recommend him for any level student!

"First lesson: Was/am having difficulty with a particular rasqueado technique. Diego “dissected” my motion indicating proper methods for better finger placement and hand positioning.
Accompanying this was a video of our lesson for my reference and an informative blog note pertaining to the art of practice.
Throughout all Diego had a courteous manner, was receptive of my questions and gave me notes by email about what we had discussed along with practice suggestions. Look forward to continuing with him.

"I took the beginner class and I was amazed by how far I progressed with Ahmad's instruction. My friends who play guitar had told me that they spent months just learning to play chords before they were able to play songs. But by the end of the four week class I could play not one, but *three* songs.

Ahmad has a well-thought-out curriculum that introduces music theory and chord concepts in a way that helps you understand what's happening musically while being able to apply it to actual songs. He has printouts and online videos to help you review if you forget something from class. He also gives you good strategies for practicing effectively. And finally, his excitement for music is infectious. One of the hardest things for me is staying motivated to practice, but that's a lot easier when I can see that I'm progressing toward being the guitarist I want to be with every lesson.

I've taken music lessons from a lot of different musicians in my lifetime (piano, violin, voice) and while they were all skilled musicians, none were as skilled of teachers as Ahmad. If your experience is anything like mine, you'll learn more faster taking lessons here than anywhere else."

"Actually learning guitar!

"I don't know how I got so lucky to find one of the few teachers in the area that not only enjoys playing but also teaches flamenco guitar. Mark is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, multi-talented and endlessly patient, a crucial quality for a thick-headed adult student like me. He takes his work seriously and conducts himself very professionally, but still manages to make every lesson a lot of fun. Amazingly, I am learning to play the guitar, which I never thought I could. Highly recommended.""

"Had some platform issue to start even though I'd prepped and tested days in advance, called Ben and patiently got me onboard. He let the lesson go on for extra time to make up for the glitch at the start. In the lesson, he has patience with beginners and still covered a LOT of new techniques (new to me anyway.) Got me psyched up to learn. Already looking forward to next lesson."
