Transcend the instrument and be able to play with anything. Learn your favorite tunes by ear and on the guitar. That is what I focus on. From beginning rudiments all the way through completely breaking down and conceptualizing the fretboard.
I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.
I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

With every lesson, my goal is to create a space where students are allowed to be as creative as they want to be. I see the benefit of a student learning not just chords and scales, but also understanding how to put it all together to make music! Whether your ultimate goal is playing your favorite songs at home or performing live -- I can help get you there. In addition, I like to include in my lesson plan tips on performance, songwriting, and recording if the student is interested. Shoot me a message and let's get started! :)
About Kianna
Chicago-based guitarist and producer Kianna recounts spending every Sunday sitting in the back seat of her parent’s car on the way to church — headphones on — listening to classic rock songs, imagining that she could play every guitar solo that came on. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, she got her

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

Long format:
I've had a guitar sitting around my flat for about two years. The only thing I could do, other than looking at it, was playing three open chords very very very badly. And I just thought that playing music wasn't for me and that I didn't have the mind for it.
Because I am stuck at home for the quarantine, I decided to check if maybe I could do something productive with my time and decided to give taking some guitar lessons a try.
Doing research online for someone willing to teach me remotely, I found Nick, and I am thrilled I did.
We have now had only about 6-7 lessons, but he has ignited in me a passion for learning the guitar and also made me believe I can.
He has a style that will accommodate and inspire any sort of student.
In my case, I want to learn the blues. But because I knew nothing about guitar playing, I need someone that can take me through the basics in a structured way where things build on each other. Nick did just that.
The guy is a proper performing musician with a great personality and loads of experience under his belt.
I have been inspired and made confident by his way of teaching, and I want to study with him for years to come."

For two years I've been taking lessons with Ahmad every week or two and have found a lifelong hobby. Ahmad has been patient and understanding to my level of ability and has guided me to not only improve dramatically my level of playing, but also has taught me the basic fundamentals of music which makes me appreciate listening to and playing music more than I ever had. Ahmad is a gifted teacher who can quickly uncover and fix fundamental problems with technique and builds lesson plans to teach one how to play the guitar as a musical instrument.
I am so happy I found Ahmad. He has given me a lifelong passion to improve my playing and a deeper understanding of the music I've loved my entire life. If you've ever thought about learning the guitar, do yourself a favor and see Ahmad now."

If you're familiar with blues chords and ready to start trying your hand at some riffs, this exercise from guitar teacher Samuel B. will help you get the ball rolling... As an instructor (and blues guitar afficionado), I'm keen on you developing a working knowledge of the blues. The blues is the musicological basis of all recognizable forms of American music (gospel, contemporary country, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, early rock n roll, the list goes on). Therefore, said knowledge will imp …
