I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

Children and adults alike benefit from and enjoy the personalized elements of our teaching style. We provide students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and techniques necessary to become skilled musicians, and are always happy to help students work toward their individual goals for learning. We believe strongly that learning should be fun. We work hard to ensure an enjoyable learning experience. In making sure that students enjoy what they are learning, we add value to the skills that are taught, by fostering a true appreciation for the joy music can bring.

I have experience teaching R&B, soul and subgenres of jazz from ages 4 and up.

In my 10 years as a professional musician I have performed everything from jazz to punk rock to Broadway classics. I can help you learn to play the guitar in whatever style you are interested in. I like to approach lessons in a way that the student gets an understanding of the fundamentals of music theory while learning music that they want to learn. Whether you're just picking up the guitar for the first time, or you've been playing for a while and hit a rut we can work to improve your skills.

Whether you want to learn a few songs, improve your chops or all-out shred, your lessons are designed to get your playing where you want it to be.

Hey guys! My name is Jered and I'd love to be a guide on your guitar journey. I've been playing for 20 years, have a BA in Music and Recording Technology, and currently play in a rock band in Portland, OR. I have taught students of all ages and all skill levels. My first love is rock, but I have studied classical, blues, country, metal, pop, funk and dabbled in a little jazz.
