Transcend the instrument and be able to play with anything. Learn your favorite tunes by ear and on the guitar. That is what I focus on. From beginning rudiments all the way through completely breaking down and conceptualizing the fretboard.
I've been playing for 20 years and have studied jazz at Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. However, I have played in bluegrass, rock, funk, hip hop and klezmer bands, as well.
I try to create an individual approach for each student because every person learns uniquely. I work with people on skills that apply to music at large, as well as the guitar 🎸. My goal is to help a student learn how to learn on their own, and provide the tools to do so.

Learn how to play the Blues!
Blues guitar is such a popular genre for guitar players because it allows you to access your personal creativity on such a deep level. In other words - you can learn to speak your mind and heart through the guitar!
My philosophy in teaching blues guitar is provide a solid "lick vocabulary" from the masters of the style, combined with an in-depth look at the art of improvising. You will learn to develop your own voice through studying and the greats and unlocking your own creative potential.

Hi, I’m Norman, and I teach guitar and all other fretted instruments. I have maintained a weekly schedule of about 40 studio and online students since 2010. Lessons with me are fun, streamlined, and filled with music.
My students can play their instruments well, and they know their chords, scales, arpeggios, songs, and other compositions. Using the state-of-the art music learning theory I studied at Eastman School of Music, performers gain the confidence to play in solo recitals, or with a group, or even to teach others to play, too.
About Norman
I have been teaching other people to play musical instruments since the moment I got home from my first music store guitar lesson. And while I am fortunate that teaching has always come naturally to me, I am very grateful that my degrees in music performance, music education, and instructional desi

Great Teacher & Excellent Musician with Mandolin or Guitar Highly Recommend ."

Long format:
I've had a guitar sitting around my flat for about two years. The only thing I could do, other than looking at it, was playing three open chords very very very badly. And I just thought that playing music wasn't for me and that I didn't have the mind for it.
Because I am stuck at home for the quarantine, I decided to check if maybe I could do something productive with my time and decided to give taking some guitar lessons a try.
Doing research online for someone willing to teach me remotely, I found Nick, and I am thrilled I did.
We have now had only about 6-7 lessons, but he has ignited in me a passion for learning the guitar and also made me believe I can.
He has a style that will accommodate and inspire any sort of student.
In my case, I want to learn the blues. But because I knew nothing about guitar playing, I need someone that can take me through the basics in a structured way where things build on each other. Nick did just that.
The guy is a proper performing musician with a great personality and loads of experience under his belt.
I have been inspired and made confident by his way of teaching, and I want to study with him for years to come."

If you're familiar with blues chords and ready to start trying your hand at some riffs, this exercise from guitar teacher Samuel B. will help you get the ball rolling... As an instructor (and blues guitar afficionado), I'm keen on you developing a working knowledge of the blues. The blues is the musicological basis of all recognizable forms of American music (gospel, contemporary country, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, early rock n roll, the list goes on). Therefore, said knowledge will imp …
