Fiddle Lessons in Clements. Amazing Teachers.

I have been teaching Irish fiddle style for 15 years. I will usually start the student in either a basic fiddle book or Suzuki to learn how to do proper bowing, positioning and technique. The student will be able to read notes. If desired, I will also teach the more advanced about chord progression through the songs. I do know the appalachian style also but it is asked for less frequently.

I am a multi-talented string player specializing in jazz, celtic (irish) and traditional fiddle styles.

Students will be introduced to various fiddling traditions including Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, and the Norwegian Hardanger Fiddle.

Been fiddling Irish and Celtic for 2 decades now. Know tons of tunes, and can also help my students translate the notation into correct style in performance! I teach violin / fiddle not through one method or genre but a unique blend of various styles, each one taking a fundamental seat in a broader performance curriculum. For example, beautiful classical pieces form our most baseline technique while country western or bluegrass make for a strong and agile bow, not to mention having some tricks to merry up the campfire or front porch gatherings. Pop / Blues / Jazz and Rock n Roll are perfect genres for prospective improvisors and future stage performers. I teach beginner bluegrass fiddle using an approach designed to help students be able to learn both by ear and with sheet music, and to prepare to play with other musicians or attend bluegrass jams, as well as play with good technique and posture. I teach children age 6 and older, and adults, and welcome adult beginners. Students can choose to work from either the book Jack Tuttle's Bluegrass Fiddle Primer, or The American Fiddle Method Volume 1 by Brian Wicklund.
