I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.
About Tara
I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, blues, folk, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music a

It’s always a very special time a guitar student wants to learn about the blues. As an improviser, this is one of my favorite topics to teach.
We will listen to the great blues guitarists, discussing their individual sound and technique. Lots of time will be spent learning scales and basic harmonic principles. Most importantly though, we will jam! It’s not easy at first, but I promise to keep the vibe easy-going and positive.

I can teach a wide variety of styles on the guitar. Once the basic skills and technique behind the guitar are learned, we would be ready to master the blues scales and use them to improvise solos over blues progressions.
