About Mia
I am a professional singer and actress with opera and musical theater credits. Singing is my passion! I love to sing, and I LOVE to teach others to sing! The human voice is the most natural instrument of all, and helping others to bring out the beauty of the natural instrument that lies within them is something to which I am very devoted. I like to make students feel comfortable and at ease in lessons, and you will find that I am very warm and friendly!

Every student is unique, with their own strengths, their own areas for improvement, and their own preference for certain styles of singing. I can help you find what style makes your heart sing!

I have a broad range of credits, including the Broadway National Tour of Fiddler On The Roof with Theodore Bikel (Tzeitel understudy), and Off-Broadway in Fiorello (Marie) and The Rose Ta
ttoo (Flora). Among my many regional credits are Oliver at the Chiswick Park Theater in Sudbury, MA (Nancy), Camelot with Noel Harrison at the North Shore Music Theater in Beverly, MA (Nimue/Guinevere understudy), and Is There Life After High School with Desi Arnaz, Jr. and Sharon Lawrence at the Burt Reynolds Theater in Jupiter, FL. I currently hold the post of Soloist at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Needham, and am a Guest Soloist for The Mother Church in Boston. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and have received additional training with many renowned pedagogues, including American actress and theatre director, Suzanne Shepherd, New York City, lyric soprano, Sari Gruber, mezzo-soprano Sondra Kelly, and coaches Arlene Shrut from the Juilliard School, Michelle Alexander with Boston Lyric Opera, and Roger Malouf with the Metropolitan Opera.

I was searching for a coach for my daughter who just loves acting and musical theater and fortunately for us we found Mia here at “takelessons”
This is a whole new world for us as I don’t know anything about this industry so I really didn’t know how to begin to help my daughter pursue her passion
I read Mia’s bio and I knew immediately that she would be a perfect fit for my daughter
Lucky for us she was less than an hour away so I signed my daughter up for lessons not really sure what to expect
My daughter is a senior in high school and just loves acting. She was involved in the plays at school but she had no experience singing and wanted to try
Mia has the experience in musical theater and she is an excellent teacher. She is very patient and genuinely cares about her students
My daughter has grown so much in the short time that she has worked with Mia
She recently auditioned and was accepted to the college she was hoping to attend
Working with Mia gave her the skills and the confidence to be able to accomplish this goal
I can’t say enough about Mia!

Students who study with me learn a technique based on clear, focused vowels, with a ringing tone. I am able to teach art song in Latin, German, French, Italian, and English, as well as operatic and musical theater styles. I am interested especially that young singers begin on a good foundation with repertoire suitable for their voices. I help my students achieve goals such as placement in choirs and participation in vocal public performance.

About Mark
I am an active performer eager to teach organ, piano, voice, and general musicianship skills to youth and adults. Private lessons are given at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester. I also teach in-home piano lessons. My students have gone on to undergraduate and graduate performance schools and hold full-time positions in churches, schools, and other performing organizations around the country. I believe music is not only an aesthetic pursuit, but also a primary way to develop one's sense of self-esteem, community, trust, openness, and character. Building skill as a musician exercises the brain, builds logic, and fosters discipline.

I have been elected Dean of the Worcester Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, with a two year term beginning July 2018.

I cannot begin to express the depth of my enthusiasm and gratitude for Mark. He is a superlative teacher, being both exceptionally talented and dedicated to excellence in the performing arts. Beyond this, Mark is always encouraging and gentle when I struggle to get it right. He provides the perfect mix of understanding, inspiration, and technical and artistic guidance.

Mark is a treasure. After our daughter’s very first organ lesson, she adopted better practice techniques and keener musical interpretation skills. Mark is witty, kind, personable, generous, and of course talented. He is a role model both as a musician and as a person. A. also started taking voice lessons with Mark, and her growth both as a singer and as an organist has been exponential as a result. We count ourselves fortunate to know Mark, and we are grateful that he is our daughter’s teacher.

I love learning from Mark! He's upbeat and kind, and has an unbelievable breadth of skill and knowledge. He has a lot of patience, which is comforting as I've never played before. He explains things in a way that is easy to understand. He can pick up on my frustrations and has a variety of ways to help me move forward without being tedious. It's so much fun to learn from him!

I believe that singing is about so much. It is a way to express yourself, it is a way to gain confidence, and it is a wonderful discipline. I want to help you find YOUR voice. It would be so much fun to get to work with you on anything you might need: sightreading, Choral solos and music, your favorite pop of country song! Anything that interest you!

About Rosie
I am an opera singer and voice teacher. I received my bachelors in vocal performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I taught secondary lessons through the conservatory. I have performed all over the United States and in England. I am currently studying at The Eastman School of Music as a master's student.
After graduation from Oberlin, I began my private studio in Texas. My weekly lessons numbered around 60. Over the last 4 years, I have taught students with a variety of interests and goals. It is important to me to find the one thing that excites my students, be that a certain song or style, or maybe how to be more comfortable singing in their church choir. In lessons, not only do we work on vocal technique, we focus on what makes their voice unique, special, and all their own. Students will always have a new building block t
o practice each week. My intention is to inspire my students to have a discerning ear and to appreciate all that goes into making a voice work.
My students have been accepted to major college voice programs, as well as participated in competitions and summer programs around the United States.
