I am a certified music educator who has a passion for helping students reach their highest potential as learners through music. My educational philosophy is centered around teaching students skills, and not just notes and techniques. Through this skills they will learn how to grow as musicians and become better learners and problem solvers in the process. I will match the student at whatever their musical level is currently and help them achieve growth. I am very comfortable teaching music online and have learned many new and helpful skills over the past year.

I am an extremely patient instructor that emphasizes attention to detail. I teach elementary school music normally so I’m used to focusing on and mastering the basic concepts. I have taught private lessons for trombone, euphonium, tuba, Horn, trumpet, and saxophone for the past five years. I believe that my large variety of teaching experience allows me to adapt my style to fit any needs that a student may have.

Tuba:
The largest and lowest-pitched musical instrument in the brass family. Like all brass instruments, sound is produced by moving air past the lips, causing them to vibrate or "buzz" into a large cupped mouthpiece. I begin teaching from the beginning with the very basics of breathing, embouchure, fingerings, reading, notes, rhythms, songs, scales, theory and improvisation.

I have over twenty years' experience teaching private lessons on trombone (alto, tenor, and bass), euphonium, and tuba. I perform regularly with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and popular groups in my area, and have performed, conducted, and lectured at the International Trombone Festival, the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, and other major venues. While most of my teaching is at the university level, I also work regularly with students both younger and older than that. My high school students are frequently successful in auditions for all-state ensembles, college scholarships, and competitions. My focus in lessons is to help each student to develop sound fundamental playing skills and then teach students how to apply those to realizing musical goals.

I have been a musician for 29yrs. with Alto Sax being my Primary Instrument. Being a Woodwind player I also play Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion. I have performed in many large/medium/small venues with many Bands and Ensembles throughout my career. I have also, been a Georgia Certified Teacher, member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and member of the Music Educators National Conference for 14yrs. Most recently as an educator in Clayton County I performed with other musicians at a County production of "The Wiz".
