After Teaching voice for the past few years it's clear that one thing is universal no matter what kind of singer you are: It takes an impressive amount of courage and self awareness to be heard through song. The Voice is one of the highest form of emotional expression, taking the whole body; as the whole body is the instrument. In these lessons we will focus on breath, bring attention to tension, support, and placement of the voice. Giving you the freedom to be heard. I'm excited to work together with you to find your voice.
"The best singers are relaxed in performance. That is they have no extraneous tension. Their muscles are ready to receive the impulse necessary to fulfill action and will ripple with energy."

I will meet you wherever you are, and together we will develop a personalized plan to meet your goals. Classical singing is often done in an overly clinical manner, punishing vocal idiosyncrasies and style, and robbing music of its joys. But as a person who had a horrible experience with classical training, I pride myself on being able to impart its better aspects without subjecting students to its more harmful, infamous aspects.
Singing is a very technical thing. The human voice is an instrument like any other that you can understand and use in a technical manner. But also your voice is a direct extension of your spirit, your identity, your history, and your passions that others can directly perceive! To truly live in your voice, to be proud of your voice, is to be proud of yourself, fundamentally. I will use my clinical knowledge and my personal knowledge as a singer to teach you to use your voice technically without robbing singing of its soul.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

For over 10 years, Lori Ann helped me learn the music, language, etc for several complicated operatic roles I learned in Russian, Italian, French and German. She grew my voice to new Heights and without her training, I would not have had the singing opportunities I did.
Lori Ann herslf is a mainstage performer with the Los Angeles Opera, having won a Grammy for her role with them in "The Ghosts of Versailles. "
She is warm and friendly and truly throws herself into making you successful at your craft. You never feel like any time is wasted."

I have worked with voice teachers who are good singers but have not the vaguest idea of what they are doing to sing well. This is certainly not the case with Serena. She communicates absolutely clearly what is needed for you to progress.
She is also very kind, approachable, encouraging and puts you at ease right away.
I would, without hesitation, give her the highest recommendation."
