I have been teaching brass for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. My name is Jerry. I LOVE music and passing my knowledge on to others. I have played many different instruments in many different kinds of bands. It all one major thing in common, it was FUN! If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!

As a professional brass musician, I have been teaching brass instruments for over twelve years.

For the beginner level, I have introduced many students to their first instrument ensuring that fundamentals are in place. At the intermediate level, I have helped many students advance in competitions and seat assignments within their band program. As a collegiate educator, I have given masterclasses at universities and private lessons to music performance students preparing for auditions and solo recitals.

I have taught online lessons for over four years and have used multiple online communication platforms to teach effective lessons. My students truly enjoy the online interaction during their lessons.

I have taught a wide variety of ages - everyone from 10 years old to 76 years old. One of the great joys I have in teaching is that each student brings their own unique strengths to lessons. My goal is to raise their level of playing while always having fun.

I have over twenty years' experience teaching private lessons on trombone (alto, tenor, and bass), euphonium, and tuba. I perform regularly with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and popular groups in my area, and have performed, conducted, and lectured at the International Trombone Festival, the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, and other major venues. While most of my teaching is at the university level, I also work regularly with students both younger and older than that. My high school students are frequently successful in auditions for all-state ensembles, college scholarships, and competitions. My focus in lessons is to help each student to develop sound fundamental playing skills and then teach students how to apply those to realizing musical goals.

I have been an orchestral tubist and university teacher for the past 10 years. My students regularly have been featured in the region band, all-state band, scholarship recipients, graduate assistantships, regional and international competitions, and regional and international tuba euphonium conferences. I have a strong focus on developing the fundamental of brass playing, so the instrument acts as an extension of their artistry.

I am a professional orchestral trombonist and I have been an active brass teacher for almost twenty years. I have played in orchestras across the USA and Europe, including the Cincinnati Symphony, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and many more.

I aim to give my students a solid understanding of the technical skills required to play a brass instrument, and to share with them the musical knowledge I have gained from studying with some of the best brass teachers in the world.
