Mel is a very patient and knowledgable teacher. I feel like I fumble along at the beginning of a lesson but by the end Mel has improved my technique and timing. I would definitely recommend Mel to anyone who wants to learn or improve on their instrument!

See "Guitar" for more information

Similar to learning acoustic guitar but with more emphasis on the common bluegrass picking techniques, chord progressions, and various scales.

Emphasis on improvisation when dealing with the lead aspect of bluegrass music.

About Christian
My name is Christian L. and I am a 28 year old guitar/music instructor in the Orlando area. My interest in guitar began when I was 12 years old and blossomed into a full time obsession about 3 years later when I started playing small gigs as a solo guitarist playing simple jazz and classical pieces for small art clubs and events. Alongside gigging, I also began teaching guitar, ear training, and music theory when I turned 18 and have been teaching full time ever since. During that time I also spent 4 years in music school for classical guitar. Currently I spend my time teaching, recording, and performing various styles including rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop, musical theater, metal, and country.

Throughout the 8 years I have been an instructor I believe I have refined my teaching style to be as versatile as possible to accommodate any learn
ing style a student may have. I am capable of teaching all styles of guitar at any skill level with an emphasis on ear training and general knowledge of guitar techniques.

Slight disclaimer in regards to lesson length, price, and student interest:

Over the past year or so I have tried a new teaching structure that I find to be quite rewarding for myself and the students I have had. My lessons do not have a maximum time limit, meaning a lesson could go for 2 hours, if that is what the student wanted, for the same price as a 45 min lesson.

This may sound strange in that I would be losing out on a large amount of potential money but the simple answer is this: I love music and guitar as well as teaching music and guitar. If we are in the middle of a great topic that you, the student, is really interested in, there is no way that I am simply going to stop talking about it when the "timer" stops and there is no way I am going to charge you more for getting into a topic you want to learn.

I find that students who spend more time in the lessons tend to become more interested in guitar and thus, better at playing. I do have to instill a minimum time limit of 45 mins however, any less is honestly just not enough time to get anything worth while accomplished.

One last thing, music and guitar have made up the majority of my daily routine for the past 10 or so years and have literally paid for everything that I currently own as I have never had any other type of job. What this means is that I take the craft very seriously and I project that in the lessons. Basically, if you are genuinely interested in learning guitar and music at any skill level, I will show you everything I possibly can to let you meet your goals. However, if you do not take it seriously, as in you don't pick up or even think about the guitar except for lesson days, the lessons may quickly feel pointless.

For more information on what I teach, feel free to look into the category entitled "Guitar" as well as any of the other subcategories that you are interested in.

Lessons with Christian have been very informative and fun. He is not only a talented player, but knowledgeable regarding music theory. Most importantly, he has the ability to teach and communicate concepts and and content in practical ways that are beneficial to the student.
He has been proactive, supportive and will go beyond time constraint in order to take advantage of the moment and accomplish the goal of each lesson.
So far, a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Wow wow wow. I had my first lesson with Christian, and he absolutely blew me away. Super talented musician. He has such a wealth of knowledge of the fretboard, musical theory, and different genres. I am into prog rock/metal and blues. I’ve never taken lessons before, and do not know scales or many chords, and christian identified exactly where to start off. He broke it down to a science and completely demystified the guitar. In small bite sized chunks we went for over two hours. It was a proper class with 1 on 1 personal attention. He is approachable with any question, and helps you understand the WHY of things, not just how to do something, which gives you such a stronger foundation to build off. I cannot wait for the next session.

I believe that learning music should be as fun and inspiring as it can be to play. We all have a vast wellspring of creative energy within us, and the goal of the relationship between the student and the teacher is to help nurture and develop that latent talent. For this reason, my approach to teaching music is highly individualized. I start out with the premise that the student has unique gifts and my job is to help them discover what those are, and develop and refine them in order to make beautiful and deeply satisfying music, through whatever instrument and in whatever style they are drawn towards.

Depending on one's starting level of experience, some basic exercises will be assigned to develop core skills, with increasing levels of technical challenge and complexity. Elements of music theory will be woven into practical lessons. Students will have the choice to incorporate material from popular and familiar music into their studies, and as they progress they will be encouraged to

About Sean
I began teaching acoustic guitar and voice lessons in 1984, also offering harmonium and tabla lessons a few years later. Some of my students have approached music mainly for personal enjoyment and deepening their self-identity, while others have used the skills they learned in their careers.

I've found that in order to be a successful teacher, I must be patient and compassionate, and try to always put myself in the shoes of a learner. I feel my greatest teaching strengths come from listening to my students, as well as drawing from my experience as a singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist.

I'm grateful for my exposure to the music of different cultures, especially the fascinating polyrhythms of traditional African drumming and the deeply moving melodies of Indian Classical music. I had the good fortune to study these disciplines int
ensively with Master Teachers during my time at Dartmouth College, at Wesleyan University, and through independent studies in India. My teacher training at Pacific Oaks College further deepened my appreciation of cultural diversity as well as my sensitivity to different learning styles.

This experience has enriched my own compositions, as well as my ability to connect with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds, and to help guide people in developing a personal style free from artificial boundaries of genre.

Currently, I'm working on recording an album of original songs based on the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and other mystics.

Guitar lessons with me are unique because although I am young, I am a very experienced teacher already. I started learning guitar at 10 years old. By the time I was 16 I was gigging and teaching kids in my neighborhood and any Craigslist clients I could find. At 18, I took a 1.5 year program at the Los Angeles College of Music, where I graduated with an AA in guitar performance. Since then I have worked as a professional musician, and also as a teacher /consultant with Adopt the Arts, a non profit started by Matt Sorum (drummer of Guns N Roses, Hollywood Vampires) and director Abby Berman. In my time at Adopt the Arts I have amassed over 4000 teaching hours of teaching kids ages 4-13, so I am very experienced with kids and get along with them great since. I have also been giving other private lessons to people of all ages since 2011. Qualities that make me stand out as a teacher are relatability, patience, and an ability to identify the proper pace for the student to enjoy the ...

Taught at the basic level very well. If you know nothing about music or guitar Tommy's your guy. Goes through all the simple steps at an even pace making the entire experience relaxing. From there giving you the knowledge of your scales and blues scales, teaching you how to make mini solos on the spot really helps out with the musicality of it all. 10/5

I am a 30 year old software engineer that wanted to start learning guitar as my 2016 new year's resolution. Heard about Tommy through a friend and I've been taking consistent lessons ever since and progressed a lot. He is knowledgeable, patient, and just a genuinely good/funny guy to be around.

A little about myself: I've toured and recorded professionally for the past 5 years. In that time, I've shared the stage with Grammy-winning artists and had my music compositions featured in video games and television. While enrolled at Berklee College of Music, I studied the guitar as my principal instrument. I'm versatile in all styles but have a staggering amount of experience as a rock guitarist and singer/songwriter.

Guitar lessons with me include the following: We'll talk about first and foremost how music is a part of their life, and then determine goals. I want to unlock your PASSION for why you want to master this instrument! The first lesson is also where I assess music tastes and where they are drawn stylistically to become a better player. This is also where I learn if they have previous playing experience, any current strengths/weaknesses, or problems with the guitar in the past. I’ll also pay close attention to form and catch any bad or good playing habits. I like to ...

About Alexis
Hi, I'm Alexis and am an NYC based professional guitarist, singer/songwriter, recording artist, and music producer. I have a Bachelor's from Berklee College Of Music with a focus on guitar technique. I also have 10+ years of experience on stage and in the studio. I love to meet new students, and am comfortable working with beginners all the way to advanced level guitarists.

A little more about myself: I've toured and recorded professionally for the past decade. In that time, I've shared the stage with Grammy-winning artists and had my music compositions featured in video games and television  (UPTV Bringing Up Bates, VH1 Behind The Music, E! Keeping Up With The Kardashians, MTV The Real World, MTV I Used To Be Fat, and MTV Teen Mom). While enrolled at Berklee College of Music, I won their performer songwriting award.

I'm versatile
in all styles but have a staggering amount of experience as a rock guitarist and singer/songwriter. I offer extensive knowledge of chords, scales, improvisation, musical theory, etc. Whether I'm playing a show, recording in the studio, or teaching lessons I always keep in mind how lucky I am to be able to have music as my job and share it with others. I'm constantly inspired by the effect that chords and melodies have on people. Music is so remarkable because, even though it can't be seen or touched, it has an enormous impact in society.

There is a hidden key that teachers on tube and books of self teaching will not reveal. I crossed the Brazilian style of learning with the American and came up with something that makes way more musical sense. I always challenge my students explaining that playing by ear, composing, improvising requires no talent, only trained effort. From basic execution of riffs to complex greek modes. You don’t need only a teacher, but a coach, a personal trainer and that is what I offer! I have experience on various genres and techniques.

About Rick
I have an energetic personality, which makes me more than a teacher, makes me your coach. I enjoy spending my time composing assimilations that I use as teaching tools. Life is too short for the amount of hobbies and skills that I love pursuing. I am bilingual, aircraft mechanic, I teach music since I was 15 years old, I love people, I love fixing stuff. I consider myself to be spiritual and an eternal learner.
