Experienced voice teacher of over 20 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of technique including breathing and exercises designed to improve strength, power, and range while decreasing tension in the jaw, face and throat. I specialize in teaching students to relax and to not sing from the throat and chest. I have an extensive background in choral music and classical singing both from a performing and teaching standpoint.

About Laurelanne
I graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA with a BA in Music Education, voice principal. During my years in public schools I taught a variety of age ranges and subjects including kindergarten general music, beginning band, high school chorus, and remedial middle school English and language arts. I have professional Yoga training and enjoy incorporating aspects of that when tutoring adult, middle school, high school, and elementary students. I also uses Yoga, brain respiration and other healing techniques in my lessons as needed.

I was a member of The William Baker Festival Singers and Summer Singers since 2003 before becoming Media Relation Coordinator in 2006 and Assistant to the Music Director in 2008 and left the group in July of 2009 to pursue other musical ventures.

Every student has a potential
for greatness no matter what their strengths and weaknesses are. No matter your age or ability level I will help you set your goals and reach them. All students should want to learn. I expect my students to be prepared and have an open mind. Learning to sing is a process. I focus on building technique and a strong musical foundation and customize my lessons for every student and individual needs. I use breathing techniques and exercises that are challenging and work toward quick and accurate results. I implement a variety of exercises to improve pitch, intonation, placement, strength, and endurance. My main goal in teaching is to encourage each student to get to know their vocal strengths and weaknesses while using all their skills to their advantage producing their best sound consistently.

Laurelanne is one of the best vocalists, coaches and teachers I've ever met. Not only is she encouraging, personal and educational, she's challenging, engaging and patient. I have been taking lessons for a couple of months and I've already seen leaps in my extending of range and fixing my pitch. She knows exactly what she's doing as a teacher and coach and she'll bring your confidence out. I honestly can't say enough great things about her and her way of getting her students farther than they thought they could go. You're the best, Laurelanne and I plan on being one of your long time students!

My first lesson was already the best singing lesson I've ever had. Laurelanne is not only patient, encouraging and challenging, she's sweet, nurturing and fun. Her relaxed style is welcomed and her wide range of technique and expertise is appreciated. She motivates me to continue on my path to not just ding, but be a singer. I can't wait for the rest of the lessons and results.

Patrick is the Organ teacher I should have had when I was a kid. Thankfully, I found him in this lifetime!
I'm a decent piano player who has lacked confidence in my play and music skills. I have just started to play Pipe Organ at my church and i needed someone's help.

Patrick's unlocking knowledge that I didn't realize was in my head and adding to it, the missing pieces in a way that no teacher has ever been able to do before (and I've had more than a handful of instructors for music). I have a degree in Music too.

He is Extremely patient and warm with a great sense of humor and compassion for any person over the age of 5. ( I believe he can teach around that age too)

Lessons are very well organized with just the right amount of information given out in any one sitting. He takes into account the goals and background of each client he works with and customizes what the focus will be. For me, I needed a immediate answer. I am not so patient. My lesson time is a slightly different than others. lol Sorry Patrick.

I am so grateful to study with and wholeheartedly recommend him to Anyone (professional to novice) searching for Organ /keyboard lessons with a teacher who will meet you where you are at and take you to the next level. Check him now!

View Full Profile

I've been teaching voice and singing professionally for almost 30 years. I specialize in classical styles but I also love teaching musical theater. I believe all styles of singing require good breath control and vocal technique. Students I have taught have won scholarships and awards. I teach breathing for singing and speaking, vowel and tone production and resonance, interpretation and dramatic aspects of literature, performance and audition techniques, sight singing and diction in English and classical l foreign languages. I also teach sight singing and music theory for singers.

About Mary Frances
TIME AVAILABILITY:
My availability changes from time to time. I am generally teaching between 2:30PM and 8:00PM Monday through Thursday. I follow the Gwinnett County School schedule. I will post all holidays and other conflicts in the calendar.

LOCATION:
Mary Frances teaches exclusively from her home studio.

TEACHING OVERVIEW:
Mary Frances has been teaching voice since 1987. She works with youth and adults, beginner and advanced. She helps voice students develop a natural, healthy, beautiful sound, proper placement and projection of the voice for singing and speaking. Her goal is to help singers gain fulfillment and joy while improving their art. She believes music should be fun and rewarding.

VOICE STUDENTS of hers have won university placement and scholarships and have been accepted into Allstate Chorus for High School
in Georgia.

She also teaches PIANO. She has taught piano for about 10 years. She studied piano privately for 10 years and had further study at Indiana University.

Students wishing to have any COMBINATION of piano, music theory, sight reading and/or vocal development can receive a program of study that meets their individual needs.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE:
Mary Frances has performed with the Southeastern Savoyards Light Opera Company, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Studio, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Marietta Theater in the Square, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She has sung title roles in Patience, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Other roles include Josephine in HMS Pinafore, the Princess in The Student Prince, and Connie in The 1940's Radio Hour.

She has performed many roles with Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) including Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street, Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Nora in Vaughan Williams' Rider's to the Sea, and Gilda in Milton Granger's Talk Opera. She sang for many years in CCOC's school outreach program. She has sung many concerts for CCOC as well.

Mary Frances was a soloist in Handel's Messiah for Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She has worked as the soloist at The First Church of Christ Scientist in Roswell, Georgia and at The Second Church of Christ Scientist in Sandy Springs, Georgia ( This church has now closed). She occasionally directs and sings in the choir, and substitutes for the cantorial soloist at Congregation Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, Georgia.

EDUCATION:
Mary Frances holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Music in both Voice and Theater. Mary Frances was a long time student of the late Elizabeth Nohe Colson of Atlanta, Georgia. She has attended Brevard Music Center, The Georgia State Opera Workshop and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While in Graz, Mary Frances was a finalist in the Meistersinger competition.

*LESSON DETAILS

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LESSON LENGTH:
30-minutes for beginning adults and elementary students up to 5th grade. 45-minutes for intermediate adults and students 5th to 8th grade. 60-minute lessons for more advanced students high school and up.

TEACHING STYLE AND CURRICULUM:
ALL: My teaching style is relaxed and nurturing I use positive reinforcement to encourage progress with adults and children. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace.

PIANO: I prefer the Alfred's Basic Piano Library series for my piano students. I find that my students learn more music theory and music reading with this series. If the student has started lessons in a different series, I can work with that as well. I have a large music library that provides a wide selection of music in addition to the Alfred books. I expect most beginning students to learn basic music reading and theory in 3 to 6 months. They should also to be able to play simple tunes in that time. I am an active professional singer, so I have a large library of vocal material at my disposal.

All piano students are REQUIRED to have an instrument to practice on at home. The piano MUST HAVE AT MINIMUM:
IF Digital - 88 full sized, weighted keys with polyphonic sound ( at least 10 keys should be able to sound at at the same time) and a sustain pedal,
OR - If Accoustic - maintained and properly tuned.

VOICE: I begin my voice lessons with breathing techniques and vocal placement using widely accepted exercises coming from a large body of sources such as:
Vaccai, professional level vocal teachers, coaches and directors that I have worked with and learned from over the last 30 years, and the writings of highly acclaimed authors in the vocal field. I also have a wide selection of art song books, oratorio, musical theatre, and opera. My background is classical and musical theatre, but I believe all styles of singing need the basic skills of breathing and vocal placement. I strive to keep voices healthy as well as find each student's most beautiful sound. Most students will see progress in breath control, range, projection and diction in 3 to 6 months.

Repertoire is chosen on an individual basis. Younger students and beginners will be encouraged to not push their voices with material that is too difficult for their individual abilities because singing requires a certain amount of physical endurance. My goal is to find each student's natural sound for whatever style he or she sings.

Voice students are encouraged to bring a recording device to lessons to use for later practice and study.

STUDIO EQUIPMENT AND LIBRARY:
Piano, Computer with Internet Access, Library of Music and Reference Materials (Sample Listing): Alfred's Basic Piano Library Books Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias, Medium High and Medium Low Voice; Schirmer Sing at First Sight; Alfred Basics of Singing by Jan Schmidt; Schirmer Many Soprano Collections of Arias, Oratorio, Sacred, and Art Songs from Schirmer Several Broadway Music Collections from Hal Leonard Discover Your Voice by Oren Brown Training the Speaking Voice by Virgil Anderson International Phonetic Alphabet for Singers by Wall Dynamics of the Singing Voice by Meribeth Bunch Classical Singer Magazine Subscription Journal of Singing, The Official Journal of the National Association of Teachers of Singing,Inc.Subscription

SPECIALTIES:

I took a series of singing lessons with Sara Ann because I want to be able to sing at the dinner before my wedding (preferably a duet) this coming November. I am not a singer, and have not sang in front of an audience since the 5th grade. Sara Ann did a wonderful job of introducing me to new exercises and warm-ups, helping me identify strengths that I can build off of, things that I can work on, and having a better understand of my own capabilities. I feel comfortable with the song that I've chosen to sing and am looking forward to the performance!

Love the lessons with Sara Ann - informative, interesting, and always helpful! She is a true speech master who can clearly identify what is missing and find excellent tools to fix it. of My first language is Russian and I was always excited to minimize its presence when I speak English. I tried some online videos but realized unless someone in person points you to what exactly sounds wrong, there won't be any results.
Sara Ann is awesome in explaining details and makes it all smooth and easy. I can really see improvements. Highly recommend!

I have been studying Broadway singers for years. I have been a Musical Theatre performer for years and I am still studying singing, acting and dancing. I am still young and know what it feels to want to better yourself everyday, so I can relate to most learning students. I put a lot of importance to vocal training, technique and warm-ups.

About Jennifer
Lehman College, Bachelors of Fine Arts, Graduate! I am a Musical Theatre Performer. I perform all the time and believe that warm-ups are a big importance when it comes to performing. I found him while preparing for an audition for a musical theatre gig. He was quick to respond and punctual with setting up the lesson ASAP. We went through the material and his instruction helped me craft not only how to show my best self in my presentation but how to do it in a healthy, long term way. I train vocalists to learn to sing using their voice, not a copy of mine or someone they heard on the radio.
I make sure we use proper techniques so each voice remains healthy and viable for as long as he or she wants to sing.

Vocal lessons in one's own home makes for a safe environment, where you don't feel like you're on display in a store or studio.

I teach every thing from opera to country, including pop, theater, gospel, contemporary Christian, jazz standards, and r & b.

About Steve
I'm Steve, the picture upload would not work, but I promise I'm a human being and I've been teaching professionally for over 30 years and I'm only 47! As you can tell, music has been a huge part of my life forever!

I work with all ages and all development levels. I have had great success with students on the autism spectrum as well asindividuals who have recently retired and need a fun hobby to keep them active and creative.

I have worked with theater and television actors, signed recording artists, producers and published composers.

I incorporate many facets to lessons, but each lesson is uniquely crafted for each student's needs and ability.

I also strive to keep lessons upbeat and fun!

I use different curriculae for different students, but I emphasize proper technique, so the student doesn't develop bad habits that can be detri
mental to progress.

I believe that whether you are learning a new skill or polishing your passion, lessons should always be fun. I've been fortunate enough to have had voice teachers and coaches who always filled our lessons with joy and laughter and now, I hope to share this joy with you. I began singing musical theater at age 10 and have over 13 years of formal, classical training making debuts from Carnegie Hall to Sicily. To sing any genre, a strong sense of vocal technique is required. I use a wide range of unique tools to demonstrate various technical methods. If you want to maximize your sound and tap into your true voice, my studio has a space for you!

About Denisha
A natural performer at heart, Soprano, Denisha Pompey believes that classical singing found her while attending the University of South Carolina Upstate. Although she went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, her passion for the arts later lead her to Converse College where she also earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance.
Always drawn to unique projects, Denisha Pompey made her first operatic stage appearances as the fairy Millie in the Children’s opera Glue by Carrie Leigh Page Drake. The opera was commissioned by the University of South Carolina Upstate as an outreach program.
Ms. Pompey made her International debut in Puccini operas as Lauretta and Nella in Gianni Schicchi and Suor Dolcina in Suor Angelica with the Mediterranean Opera Studio Festival. After receiving a Master’s of Musi
c in Voice Performance from Georgia State University, she was a featured Young Artist for Marble City Opera performing the role of Lisa in Hugo Weisgall’s The Stronger, and appeared as a soloist in Capitol City Opera’s Annual Gala. She has also made a successful Carnegie Hall debut as Papagena with concert appearances as Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. While onstage quite a bit, Ms. Pompey never abandoned her love for piano and plays every moment she gets. She enjoys teaching both voice and piano to anyone who also shares the love of music.
