Percussion Lessons in Haines City. Amazing Teachers.

I have been teaching for about 8 years with students ranging from beginner to advanced. All ages are welcome! I also welcome all different styles of music from rock, to jazz, and even classical. Each lesson is catered specifically to the student. I want each student to be able to reach their own specific goals, while having the time of their life!

This is a play-by-ear approach. Virtually all pop music bands, regardless of genre, have for the past 65 years used drumming that is played by ear. This means, without the use of written music. Few venues today require drumming to written "drum" music charts.

We will examine drumming styles and approaches in basic rock-n-roll and learn to play along and perform similarly. This will also include the development of an ear for style, technique & method, and skills necessary to execute a full pop music performance. Student should have access to at least a basic drum set.

I have a lot of experience playing all kinds of percussion! I've been doing it since I was in middle school, and have gotten a degree in Percussion Performance.

I've always played because I genuinely enjoy it, and I'd like to help people who are trying to get better for auditions, or just want to learn a piece.

These are your lessons, so we'll try to hit whatever your goal is. If you want to defer to me, then I'll start you off with basics like refining your technique, and making sure we can keep tempos steady - things that will apply to everything you play.

My experience as a performer and teacher spans over 25 years of just about every musical style the involves percussion. I believe in creating an environment that is focused on playing music well and where the student can have fun while gaining confidence. It is important to develop functional musicians with good technique, reading, time, and listening skills. We can cover all percussion instruments from drum set to mallet instruments (marimba, timpani, etc.) to hand percussion in every style of music from early music Renaissance music to world percussion and today's rock/pop, including jazz.
