TakeLessons.com Instructor since 2005, Jason M. is now available for online lessons worldwide featuring multiple-camera angles and a share screen experience leaving no stone un-turned!

Jason has been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching music since 1996. Although trained in standard teaching methods, he has developed his own method of teaching to positively enhance the student€™s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. His goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an artist and a musician.

This year Jason was also the Music Director at the National Guitar Workshop Day Jams Rock Music Day Camp where students ages 7-15 came out to form bands, record original material and master their craft. He also taught beginning to advanced guitar/ vocals/ performance and songwri
ting as hosted a recording clinic at the end of each day.

Jason has host student showcases/charity benefits where his students were able to get on stage and show off their new talent and perform with other musicians. It wasn't mandatory though, if you were just looking to come out and support there was no pressure other than to come out and have fun.

Jason has been transcribing for guitar and bass since the age of 18 and since then has become a master of the craft including both 5 line staff and tablature, hand-crafted exercises and deconstructions to better enhance the students learning. Artists and genres that Jason has experience with range from Classic Rock, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Robert Johnson, Pierce the Veil, Paramore, All Time Low, Demi Lava to, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, The White Stripes, Green Day, Old Crow Medicine Show, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons, Bruno Mars, Rob Zombie, John 5, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Van Morrison, the Beatles, AC/DC, ZZ-Top, Bullet For My Valentine, All That Remains, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Sublime, Aerosmith, At the Drive In, Type O Negative, the Black Keys, the Pixies, the Toadies, Black Sabbath, Jason Mraz, Lady GaGa, John Mayer and Journey.

Jason attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage where his degree is in Music and Business. He is constantly continuing his education with music theory courses as well as private guitar instruction. He attends guitar workshops and seminars by artists such as John5 and Kerry King who are known as some of the worlds finest guitar players. He reviews every day from a wide range of over 1000 sources working to become a better musician and instructor.

Another nice feature that you might enjoy from one on one sessions with Jason is learning the ability to craft and record your own songs using state of the art technology that caters to your own unique personality. There are no limits!

Jason teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced as well as artists that are signed to labels.

Local news outlet Fox 5 did a segment with one of his students who overcame issues with ADD and depression as a result of taking guitar lessons.

His students advance quickly, some have released albums, been in Guitar World Magazine as well as its online companion and won awards for their music websites.

I can teach all levels and many styles. I make it easy for you to learn at your own pace so you can achieve your goals and have fun playing music.

About Thomas
Tom has a music degree focused in guitar performance and a combined professional teaching and performance career that spans over twenty years.

Tom began teaching in 1994 and still practices today instructing students of all ages on guitar and bass techniques, as well as music theory.

Tom is very laid back and embraces working at the pace that each of his students feels most comfortable. Lessons are about the student’s ambitions. If it is learning their favorite songs or a deep dive into music theory, jazz improvisation or songwriting it can be covered in strides that seem fit to the student. Books can be used for guidance and a custom lesson plan created that will fit specific criteria desired to be achieved by the student. Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you put in, the more you will get out of it!!

Learn how to play the Blues!

Blues guitar is such a popular genre for guitar players because it allows you to access your personal creativity on such a deep level. In other words - you can learn to speak your mind and heart through the guitar!

My philosophy in teaching blues guitar is provide a solid "lick vocabulary" from the masters of the style, combined with an in-depth look at the art of improvising. You will learn to develop your own voice through studying and the greats and unlocking your own creative potential.

Get happy, play the blues! All the different styles can be explored. We'll start with simple blues scales and work towards understanding why certain notes go with certain chords. From there, improvisation and comping get so much easier.

Whether it's getting into the school jazz band, a college degree program or simply playing for friends, I can help you get there. Heading into my first class with Tim, I had almost no musical experience (at least for the last 15+ years). In a very casual way, he was able to get a sense of where I was and where he should start with my instruction.

I was very reluctant to take lessons at first, but my wife got me started with Tim and it was really worth it. He was accommodating to my relatively slow speed of learning and easily adapted to my own musical preferences and interests.

His studio is a great space and is located within a really cool, historic building. The sound is fantastic and it's a comfortable space to practice in.

I highly recommend Tim for lessons - especially for adults who may not be able to dedicate hours a day to practicing. I took lessons weekly for three months and I got a great foundation for practicing. Once my life settles down a little, I definitely hope to go back.

For blues guitar the first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized binder guitar workbook and having a teaching degree I create all of the lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, chords, rhythm, scales, arpeggios, songs, song form, and exercises etc. I use a color coded method to teach scales, chords and theory that I created that help students not only understand scales but also they are able to see visually where chords come from. I use a color coded method to teach that I created that help students not only learn and understand scales and chords but also they are able to see visually how scales and chords are created. I currently teach private guitar lessons and have worked for 12 years in our local schools as a teacher with students K through 12. For 2 years, from 2012 to 2014 I taught an after-school enrichment guitar and songwriting class. I created the curriculum and music workbook specifically for 6 and 7-year old children whom I taught at Pequenakonck Elementary School in North Salem, NY. In College I won an award for the most Improved Studio Composition Student at Purchase College. I graduated from the Santa Fe University of Art & Design, and have been teaching for the last four years. Send me a message and let's get rockin'!

About Trevor
Willa says:
"A talented guitarist for multiple styles, and a very patient teacher!"

Ned says:
"Trevor clearly explains guitar techniques in line with students’ ability to implement."

I am a diverse and skilled lead and rhythm guitarist. I play Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Balkan music. I started my journey with Eric Clapton and George Harrison in 2004. I graduated with honors from the Contemporary Music Program at Santa Fe University of Art & Design in 2015.

I played lead guitar in a progressive rock power trio called Get Safe for three years. During my time at school, I was also exposed to Balkan and Middle Eastern music styles, which broadened my understanding of music and my technique. My most current project is one that fuses jazz guitar and electronic dance music, which I've titled SOZN.

I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and grew up like all of us being a fan first. I grew up playing in bands of all sorts and became a guitar tech and teacher soon after. I throughly enjoy passing down next generations with knowledge acquired throughout my years of playing, building and teaching.

About Glenn
I'm originally from Los angels California, I grew up outside of Hollywood and started off just like all of us being a fan first. I've played guitar , bass and drums in numerous bands of different genres primarily rock, metal, country and blues based. I soon after became a guitar tech (since I worked on all my own instruments anyways) and began giving lessons very soon after. I strongly believe going outside of one's comfort zone musically as a great way to open new doors and pathways not normally seen.
With teaching of any musical instrument, circumstances can easily force the teacher and student to frequently go outside of their own comfort zone. For me personally this helps so much with viewing things from different perspectives and with connecting with principals or methods. And developing a visual and cognitive understanding
of the instrument. I throughly enjoy teaching and passing down my acquired skills and information to anyone willing to learn. For the preservation of generations to come.
