As a 63-year old I was concerned it would tough for me to learn. I'm sure I don't retain and absorb like a 12-year old but I AM LEARNING TO PLAY. Justin is very patient and accommodating and I am inspired to practice weekly. Most of all I'm having fun.

Guitar is one of the most enjoyable instruments to play. At least I think so! Join me as I teach you the fundamentals of guitar in a creative, student-customized way. Whether you're just starting out or have been playing for years, I'd love to help you get the next level. My specialty is teaching classical guitar. It's my firm belief that learning classical guitar will make you better at playing any and every other style of guitar. But that doesn't mean we will only focus on classical music. I'll tailor lessons to your interests as well. If you like blues, we'll learn tools to improvise up and down the neck. If you like pop, we'll learn chords and finger picking. And the list goes on and on. Most of all, my goal is to show you how fun playing guitar and making music can be. I've sure enjoyed it!!

About Andrew

I've been playing guitar for 15 years and have gained so much joy from it. I loved it so much, I got a degree in classical guitar performance. When I'm not playing or teaching, you can find me spending time with my wife, playing with my dog, or composing and recording music. I look forward to gettin

"Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!"

"Paul is an awesome guitar teacher and all around great guy. I clicked with him immediately. His knowledge of music is vast on pretty much any genre. He delivers instruction without any pretense in easy to understand digestible portions. For me, he promoted important fundamental learning principles but custom designed to my skill level and to help me fulfill my personal goals. I give Paul my highest recommendation. You will be glad you took lessons from Paul! I am."

"Phil is a phenomenal teacher - right from the start, he will get you on track with exercises and practice routines that keep you focused on learning to play the guitar. He will cover the areas that you must know to become proficient on the guitar, including forms, modes, chords and progressing toward learning to read music.

After struggling to teach myself to play the guitar, I realized that I had hit a wall in my self-instructed learning and I needed to find a guitar teacher. I found Phil through word of mouth - and I have made great progress under his tutelage.

If you want to learn to play the guitar, Phil is the teacher you want - if you just want to learn to play songs, well, there’s YouTube."

However it was with Ahmad that I developed the interest and excitement you experience when you play a guitar. Ahmad is the best guitar teacher hands down. In a very short time I have been able to understand not just how to play the guitar but also music in general. Ahmad is a very enthusiastic teacher who keeps the momentum going throughout the session. If you are in the area and want to learn the guitar you should definitely pay Ahmad a visit."

Tricks For Differentiating The Two Blues Chord Progressions

Ready to get started with learning blues chord progressions? Here's an intro by Austin, TX guitar teacher Samuel B...   In order to properly respect and understand both the theory and structure of ANY kind of American music, it's essential to be able to play the blues. Although the form is said (by some scholars) to have originated in Africa within the story-telling traditions of village griots (historians/poets/musicians who would play a five-stringed instrument known as the halam, which …

A Fun Blues Guitar Exercise to Get You Started

As an instructor (and blues guitar afficionado), I'm keen on you developing a working knowledge of the blues. The blues is the musicological basis of all recognizable forms of American music (gospel, contemporary country, soul, rhythm & blues, bluegrass, early rock n roll, the list goes on). 5 Blues Guitar Secrets That Will Make You a Better Player

Learning how to play blues guitar? Pay extra attention to these five things from guitar teacher Mike B.... 1. In Tune Bends The blues guitar style is full of bending strings. Bends, as well as hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides, give guitarists the ability to imitate the way singers use various inflections while singing melodies. However, unlike hammers-ons and slides, bends are not guaranteed to be in tune. Since there is nothing worse than an out-of-tune bend in the climax of a great solo …
