Although I have been a professional fretted stringed instrument instructor since 1989, Banjo is my newest instrument. I am genuinely passionate about your success in becoming the best banjo player you choose to be! I like to teach with repetition (wax on wax off) and prefer to present the big picture first so that every obstacle may potentially never be an obstacle for you. I take years of teaching experience and what have been topics of frustration brought to me by students in the past. I try to smooth the road and teach you, so you get the highest yield of success for your money with as few headaches as possible :)

About Greg

Hey musician! I am EXTREMELY excited to help you get to your best potential through lots of flight hours as quickly as you like! I hope you will pick me to help you avoid common setbacks in your progress. I look forward to helping you be your best on your instrument! I play fretted and fretles

Banjo:
If country picking, blue grass, or even pop/rock is a favorite of yours then banjo is a really fun instrument to learn. As with all instruments I teach, we would start with basics and in no time the be picking and strumming away on songs you love. I also incorporate learning the notes, chords, theory, and picking, strumming, techniques and rhythms to become a well rounded musician.

About Karen

Hi! My name is Karen D. I’ve had the pleasure of performing, singing, writing, and recording since I was seven years old. Besides being an Honor Graduate of Berklee School of Music, I have been a lifelong student of the international world-renowned instructors Dante Pavone and Charlie Banacos.

Ms. Karen did a pretty good job, she had ideas for the lesson and provided ideas for the next lesson. She went out of her way to help me with this new idea---------"music" and "reading music." If there was any short fall in the lesson it was on my side and my preparation failings. I have no problem recommending Ms. Karen to others. Regards, JC

Extremely knowledgeable! Karen is a superb guitar instructor. Honestly, I was struggling. Discouraged! She helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses, and moved me from beginner to intermediate in a matter of months. If you’re getting tired of learning from YouTube and smart phone apps, let Karen kick start your guitar playing. You’ll be glad you did. Thanks Karen!!

Brian is an excellent teacher. We were able to dive right into the lesson and go through some techniques for me to practice on my own. It was obvious he knew what he was talking about ranging from music theory to instrument care. Highly recommend working with him if you want to learn the banjo.

s incredible as touring and performing can be, I have a huge passion for teaching banjo too. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced player, it’s important to me to show you that banjo is not just a bluegrass instrument, but an incredibly versatile conduit to EVERY type of music.

Though I mostly teach three-finger style (from beginner to advanced lessons), I teach the occasional clawhammer lesson as well. We can talk about anything you’d like– I maintain the importance of keeping lessons personal and only going in the direction you want.

We are going to HAVE FUN! I will be customizing your lessons to your needs, your skill level, your age, and most importantly, what you would like to learn on the Banjo.
I give lessons on the 5 string banjo, so if you still need to buy a banjo and you decide to have me as your teacher, please be sure to purchase a 5 string banjo.

I will be including the basic fundamentals such as fretting exercises and picking patterns that will be used as warmup exercises. I want to keep this fun, not grueling or boring. You will learn how to strum chords and finger-pick, which is the most common method of playing the banjo. You will need finger picks, which we will use right away during your first lesson. Overcoming any obstacle is to face it right away and not put it off. Often times new banjo players will avoid using finger picks for various reasons, but I like to have all my students start out playing the banjo with finger picks, and then at some point, we will try playing without the picks. My ten year old granddaughter has zip experience with any musical instrument, but she elected to try the saxophone. Rhonda is an excellent instructor. Her praise is genuine and her corrections are gentle. My granddaughter’s comment after her first thirty minute lesson was, “ That was a short lesson..only about five minutes!” That says it all! Highly recommend Rhonda!

Are Heavy Metal Banjos The Next Big Thing?

Loud, jangly, and twangy, the banjo is an instrument with a distinctive voice that immediately evokes the spirit of the American South. Long a mainstay of bluegrass music, banjos have recently been incorporated into pop music as well by bands like Mumford and Sons. And, if YouTube trends are any indication, it looks like the banjo is making another genre shift! A pack of viral videos featuring banjo covers of hard rock classics are making the rounds and proving that banjos can shred just a …
