About Edwin
Hello! Thank you for your interest in taking guitar/piano/music lessons.

I am a professional teacher/studio musician/performer/producer with over 17 years of private teaching experience and a graduate of the University of Miami Studio Music and Jazz program in 2002 specializing in the guitar.

I am available to teach guitar(acoustic, electric, classical) for all levels, ages, and styles(pop to folk, rock to soul, world to classical) in English, Spanish and Japanese.

Other subjects taught include bass guitar, piano/keyboard, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harmonium, classical percussion, music theory, composition(all styles from pop to classical), ear training, and studio production/engineering/mixing.

Born in Cali, Colombia on April 1979, I began my musical endeavors studying the piano at the age of 6. Early on I had the opportunit
y to play percussion in the school symphony while at the same time developed an intense interest in the instrument that would become my true love, the guitar.

During 1996-98 I studied jazz guitar at the New World School of the Arts music program under the direction of J.B. Dyas and Dr. Roby George. Upon graduation, I was immediately accepted to the University of Miami jazz guitar program under the direction of Randall Dollahan. It was during this time that I also refined my skills as a classical guitarist and as a composer/arranger. In addition, I began passing my knowledge onto friends and eventually began working as a teacher.

My ability to play almost any genre of music is the fruit of past experience playing with an impressive variety of music groups, including jazz combos, symphony orchestras, Andean world music ensembles, and several rock and pop groups as well. As a studio guitarist I have recorded for various artists including Jaci Velasquez, Carlos Ponce, Alexandre Pires, and Noelia.

Every one of you is unique and there are many possible paths to reach your goals in music.

With my background and music industry experience, I am able to customize my lessons for you so that you can reach your desired goals. We will take some time to find out where your passion lies in music and I will use my experience and knowledge to create a customized lesson-plan that will allow us to focus on reaching your desired goals and at the same time maintain a well rounded music education.

I find this to be key in making the lessons and your practice sessions very enjoyable, fun and laid back - knowing that everything we practice, play and talk about is in line with your goals as a student.

I will also be playing along with you and demonstrating everything that we're working on - music is meant to be shared and played with others and it is important to have that experience of interaction from early on in your lessons.

So whether it's learning to accompany yourself or others, write songs, read music, understand harmony, solo, or just jam out to your favorite songs, you will be well on your way to reaching your goals within 6 months of my lessons.

Look forward to making music with you!

I found Zach through 'take lessons' after my daughter had a few years with an intense classical pianist. I want my daughter to have fun and appreciate music and not feel the intense pressure she was feeling with our previous instructor. Zach was the perfect choice. My daughter loves her lessons. Zach does take time off for his professional endevors. Good for him. He has always let us know and connected with us when he returns.

I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced 5 string banjo.
I teach chords and melody. I teach a person to read music or play by
ear. I teach out of a song book that not only
has great songs in it but also has a play-along CD with it. Every one loves this type
of learning method.

About Bruce
I received my degree from the University of Utah in instrumental music education. Along with specialized training in band and orchestra instruments, I also offer lessons in guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica in playing and performance. When a student has a song they want to learn, I focus lessons around the requested song. I also have an extensive library of songs that I utilize. My music methodology is built around a song book that also has a CD attached. This has proven to be a lot of fun for all my students. It makes practice time more fun as they "play along" with the CD.

*** Lesson Details ***
With folk instruments I start by teaching the student basic chords and basic chord sequences.
In the beginning I stress the proper hand position and I spend some time perfecting the best finger position. This eliminates a lot of pr
oblems that will come up later. For the first songs I teach them songs that use those same chords and chord sequences. Soon after that I teach them how to read music. This is vital to being able to play lead on any folk instrument. As the student progresses he or she is exposed to many different styles of music I also will teach several different picking and strumming patterns. .The student is also taught about more advanced chord progressions and music theory that can be used in any situation.

For brass instruments I teach techniques in developing breath control and embouchure development. Attention to these details will eliminate problems that could come up in the future. The student will learn how to read music from the start. As the student develops these basic techniques I begin working on tone development and breath support. As the student progresses he or she will be exposed to many different musical styles.
During the past two years I have been working for the Clark County School District as a Para Pro. I help students that need extra help to be more successful on their instrument.
I specialize in teaching the lower brass family. That is the Tuba, Trombone and the Baritone. I also train new teachers in the lower brass family if the new teachers has no experience when they first start out.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room: Instruments, bookshelves, open space, additional seating for parents.

Beginner to Advanced, from basic setup and tuning of the instrument, to all sorts of playing techniques, to some of the most significant pieces written for the instrument

About Andrew
Andrew is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, backing vocals) who settled in Las Vegas in 2013. After graduating with honors from Musicians Institute in 2008, he wrote a collection of acoustic guitar pieces licensed to The Weather Channel, then spent 5 years working as a show musician and top-40 musician for 3 cruise lines.

Currently In Las Vegas, Andrew splits his time between his original band, various productions in the casino showrooms, a well-known local country cover band, teaching, running his own music copying, arranging, and orchestration company, various freelance engagements, and spending time with his amazing wife and two sons.

Andrew's original band, "Tin Toy Cars," formed in 2014 and consists of two local Las Vegas musicians and a few musicians from Cirque du Soleil. Their debut album entitle
d "Falling, Rust, and Bones" was released in January 2016 and as a result of the volume of radio play across the country, immediately set a new all-time record on the national Americana Music Association Charts for highest new artist debut. The band's first music video made it's debut in March 2016 courtesy of The Huffington Post, along with a feature article. Along with the premier article were various national press releases and articles featuring the band and the album. Their second album has been completed and will be released in early 2018.

Andrew currently plays in the orchestra for the weekly production "Brunch to Broadway" at Red Rock Resort and Casino. The show features original members of Broadway's "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and the wonderful music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Band members include musicians from "Le Reve" at the beautiful Wynn Resort, as well as long time veterans of Bette Midler's Orchestra and Donnie and Marie Osmond's backing band.

Andrew also performs with local country cover and line dance band "The Voodoo Cowboys." The band can be seen almost any night in Las Vegas between the famed Gilleys at Treasure Island, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar at Harrah's Resort, and one of the three stages at the amazing Fremont Street Experience.

Andrew also plays in the band at a local church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, and teaches a handful of lessons each week on his various instruments.

a, or Bach, the concepts underlying music are basically the same. I will make sure you can play the music you love and hopefully help you explore new music as well.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my studio I have a Guild Classical, Alvarez Acoustic, and Epiphone Electric.

All the accessories needed as well. Music Stands, Foot Stools, Picks, Straps, Slides, Tuners, Books, etc.

Julie taught herself to play clawhammer banjo, influenced by various Appalachian instrumentalists and accompanists (including Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Hobart Smith, and Lily May Ledford), but her style is also influenced by years of playing with midwestern and southern-style dance fiddlers.
I offer lessons in clawhammer (down-picked) banjo, from basic technique to drop-thumb style, the "Galax lick," sweeping the strings, approaches to song accompaniment, use of tunings, and much more.

About Julie
I am a professional musician, specializing in traditional American and Irish music and song; I can, however, also teach classical guitar and beginning-intermediate violin. My CD, "American Stranger," has received critical acclaim and I have authored two books on DADGAD guitar for Mel Bay Publications.

I taught myself guitar at the age of thirteen, but took three years of lessons at Washington University, where I also studied English and French. As an adult I became interested in fingerstyle guitar in open tunings, especially DADGAD. I am, however, happy to teach in standard tuning--including basic guitar proficiency, classical guitar, and "folk" guitar.

I have played violin since I was eleven, taking lessons until the age of sixteen and playing in both high school orchestra and the local youth symphony. I later learned to sus
pend much of my classical technique in order to play both old-time and traditional Irish fiddle as authentically as possible; but I still retain my initial training and apply good basic violin technique to my fiddle and (of course) her violin teaching, while tailoring it to the musical idioms of each of students.

I have also studied voice, which again, however, I have never allowed to interfere with my performance of traditional songs--largely because I had developed a traditional approach to the singing of both American southern mountain repertory and traditional Irish song many years before receiving any formal instruction. This training, however, has given me greater insight into how to get the most out of your voice for almost any style.

I also taught myself to play lap dulcimer, basing my approach on the Eastern Kentucky styles associated with Jean Ritchie, Barbara Edwards, and Anne MacFie—that is, primarily using a small dowel stick or noter to sound the melody, and playing counter-melodies for song accompaniments.

My clawhammer banjo-playing is influenced by various Appalachian instrumentalists and accompanists (including Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Hobart Smith, and Lily May Ledford), but my style is also influenced by years of playing with midwestern and southern-style fiddlers.

I welcome students ages 10 or above, and have learned to adapt my teaching style to the individual student, helping each one to make the most of his or her talents and enthusiasms, while emphasizing sound technique and good practice habits.
