After the first lesson you will be making music, playing songs and you will be on your way to achieving your musical goals playing blues guitar. Whether you like specific types of blues like Texas blues or Chicago blues or you enjoy specific players like Albert Collins or Hubert Sumlin, playing blues guitar requires a knowledge of chords, melody, blues licks, picking technique as well as knowing songs all of which we will begin to learn in your first lesson.

With 10+ years as a music teacher and professional musician I have picked up many approaches that will insure you are making the most progress and truly finding your musical voice.

I have studied, performed and taught music for over 10 years. I hold a B.A. in music from USC. My professional experience as a musician and teacher has led me to many areas of the music business. I've been taking lessons from Adam for about 3 years now - He is an amazing teacher! I took lessons before when I was younger but I quickly lost interest. I decided to get back into it later in life (I'm 35 now), but I still struggled to find the right teacher. One was too serious and the other was too relaxed and I felt like I wasn't actually making any progress. With Adam I got the best of both worlds! I was getting better at the guitar, and at the same time I was enjoying myself throughout the whole process. I'm still taking lessons with Adam and I would recommend that you do the same!

I took jazz guitar for two years from Adam. He’s a great teacher and excellent musician. As a former “cowboy chords” guitarist, I jumped from 5 to about 15 chords in a few weeks. Adam is patient and lots of fun. I still catch some of his gigs when I’m back in NYC.

I believe that learning music should be as fun and inspiring as it can be to play. We all have a vast wellspring of creative energy within us, and the goal of the relationship between the student and the teacher is to help nurture and develop that latent talent. For this reason, my approach to teaching music is highly individualized. I start out with the premise that the student has unique gifts and my job is to help them discover what those are, and develop and refine them in order to make beautiful and deeply satisfying music, through whatever instrument and in whatever style they are drawn towards.

Depending on one's starting level of experience, some basic exercises will be assigned to develop core skills, with increasing levels of technical challenge and complexity. Elements of music theory will be woven into practical lessons. Students will have the choice to incorporate material from popular and familiar music into their studies, and as they progress they will be encouraged to

About Sean

I began teaching acoustic guitar and voice lessons in 1984, also offering harmonium and tabla lessons a few years later. Some of my students have approached music mainly for personal enjoyment and deepening their self-identity, while others have used the skills they learned in their careers.

I've found that in order to be a successful teacher, I must be patient and compassionate, and try to always put myself in the shoes of a learner. I feel my greatest teaching strengths come from listening to my students, as well as drawing from my experience as a singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist.

I'm grateful for my exposure to the music of different cultures, especially the fascinating polyrhythms of traditional African drumming and the deeply moving melodies of Indian Classical music. I had the good fortune to study these disciplines int

ensively with Master Teachers during my time at Dartmouth College, at Wesleyan University, and through independent studies in India. My teacher training at Pacific Oaks College further deepened my appreciation of cultural diversity as well as my sensitivity to different learning styles.

This experience has enriched my own compositions, as well as my ability to connect with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds, and to help guide people in developing a personal style free from artificial boundaries of genre.

Currently, I'm working on recording an album of original songs based on the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz and other mystics.

I Googled "guitar teacher, Roseburg, OR" and low and behold, Sean showed up and boy I'm glad he did!!! Sean and I hit it off instantly and the things I wanted to get better at (finger picking, hammer(s) on and off, picking the notes within chords, etc.) Sean was completely versed in! Long story short... I couldn't be happier with Sean as a teacher and as a person he's totally cool as well! I recommend Sean unequivocally and if you want to start to play guitar or even get better as I do, Sean is your guy, no doubt about it!!!

Private Blues Guitar Teacher

Hello! I have been teaching guitar for over 7 years now. Form beginners to advanced students I make it my duty to find the students interests and help them develop their own sound. As a Berklee College of Music graduate I have studied composition and music production, skills that I am happy to teach any student. In addition to teaching guitar my students have the option to learn music theory, as well as recording and mixing original compositions that we develop together in class and as homework assignments (DAWs - Logic & Protools). My specialities include Blues, Classic Rock, Jazz & electronic beat production.

About Farrokh

I have been playing guitar, piano, bass, ukulele and drums for 11 years now (teaching for 7 years - Acoustic & Electric). As a child I started playing pop music, then I became obsessed with classic rock music (Guns & Roses, Iron Maiden, ACDC, etc). Soon after I started playing a lot of Modern Rock and Metal music. Then in my 20's I started to play blues and jazz as a means to learn advanced concepts in music and fell in love with the guitar all over again. At the age of 21 I went to Berklee College of Music where I studied composition and music production for four years.
I am confident that I have the skills and resources to teach anyone from a beginner to an advanced musician.

Hey guitar players! What makes my teaching services stand out is that I teach nearly all styles of the guitar including rock, blues, metal, country, jazz, and classical. My main emphasis is in classical guitar, but I have much experience learning a variety of styles from several teachers from around the world. I also like to make our lessons fun with lots of playing and do not mind being patient with beginners. I teach younger students at CB Music Studios in Roseville, at my home in Carmichael, or privately at students' homes. Hope to see you soon! :)

It’s my passion to see people learn to play the guitar. I spent 3 years being trained in classical, blues, rock and jazz. I’ve been teaching people how to play music for almost 10 years. I have expertise in learning how to play with a band and I perform on a weekly basis. I am gifted in identifying your strengths and goals, then developing you into the musician that you want to be. From people who want to be on a big stage to those who just want to have a fun hobby, I can get you where you want to go!

About Cole

I’m a lead vocalist and guitarist for my worship team at my church. I have been playing guitar for 15+ years and have been teaching others for almost 10 years.

I spend the bulk of our first lesson trying to figure out what your goals are. Some people are aiming for the big stage, while others just want to learn a few songs that will impress their friends and loved ones. For any goal you have I can equip you to get there.

I have a few key values and commitments I make as a guitar teacher that have proven successful:
1. Cultivate an environment that is encouraging for the student.
2. Highlight areas of strength and build from there.
3. Give productive critique, feedback, and advice on how to improve.
4. Agree on a practice schedule in our first lesson that will help the student meet their goals and set them up for success.

5. Remain available during the week to answer questions and provide guidance in between lessons.
6. Receptive to ways that I can better teach you and help you meet your goals.
7. Have fun playing the BEST instrument in the entire world!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up for a lesson today and let’s get you ready for the big stage, or mom’s living room! I’m excited to go on this adventure with you!

Blues Guitar Reviews

Mark Herr
"Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to
become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!"

"Very knowledgable so far after one lesson"

"Great Vocabulary and phrasing! just what I was looking for :)"
Greg
"Phil is a phenomenal teacher - right from the start, he will get you on track with exercises and practice routines that keep you focused on learning to pl
ay the guitar. He will cover the areas that you must know to become proficient on the guitar, including forms, modes, chords and progressing toward learning to read music.

After struggling to teach myself to play the guitar, I realized that I had hit a wall in my self-instructed learning and I needed to find a guitar teacher. I found Phil through word of mouth - and I have made great progress under his tutelage.

If you want to learn to play the guitar, Phil is the teacher you want - if you just want to learn to play songs, well, there’s YouTube."

"Frank is a thorough and detailed teacher. He is always prepared for each lesson and will cater each week based on your needs and interests. He is skil
led at teaching theory and technique through practice and real life musical examples. In other words you will learn to play a lot of music while simultaneously becoming a more knowledgeable musician. As a musician he is like a human jukebox And has experience playing in many different styles. I purchased his books, published by Alfred‘s music from Amazon and I have used those as reference points for my learning as well. Without a doubt I recommend Frank as a teacher and for any age group or level of interest. I give him five stars he’s fantastic!"

"Ahmad is patient, extremely knowledgeable, and has an ease about his teaching style that makes learning fun and effective. I highly recommend him to the n
ovice and the advanced guitar player. You'll be playing beyond your expectations in less time than expected. Theory, composition, anecdotes, and practical advice. His knowledge is backed by decades of professional experience --- teaching and performing. Highly recommended!"

"I'm an older self taught player that finally decided to take lessons. I have been working with William for a little over a month now. He began with cleani
ng up my playing position. This was really big for me as I have had issues that prevented me from playing as long as I would like due to back and hand pain.
William spent the time to figure out where I was and wanted to go. Im very pleased with the progress I'm making and am confident that taking lessons with William was a great choice. He has also been very giving of his time to help pick out instruments and gear to move my instruction along.
I see a lot of instructors here that are players trying to augment their gigging money by giving lessons. Williams education and background really show in his lesson presentation and effectiveness."
...
Scott
"There's guitar teachers and then there's William! Being a classical guitar player himself, he is meticulous and precise when it comes to his instruction.
He is exceptional in teaching students how to play guitar the correct way. He formulates his lessons to be student specific, and keeps record of the students progress. With William, you will learn how to crawl before you learn how to run, and you will learn it the right way, and will be a better musician because of his instruction and dedication to his students, which is the backbone to his dedication to music."

Tricks For Differentiating The Two Blues Chord Progressions

By Suzy S.

Ready to get started with learning blues chord progressions? Here's an intro by Austin, TX guitar teacher Samuel B...   In order to properly respect and understand both the theory and structure of ANY kind of American music, it's essential to be able to play the blues. Although the form is said (by some scholars) to have originated in Africa within the story-telling traditions of village griots (historians/poets/musicians who would play a five-stringed instrument known as the halam, which …
