I teach all sub-genres of blue...Texas, Chicago, Jump, slide, jazz-blues, and blues/rock. I have been teaching this style for 15 years.

I am very patient and adjust areas of study to fit my students goals.

About Kimberly
I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. Af
ter the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG bio:

... there are also elements of Jimi Hendrix (arguably the first true heavy metal/hard rock artist), Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan in her playing, and she clearly has a strong appreciation of jazz--not only jazz-rock fusion improvisers like John Scofield, Larry Coryell and Mahavishnu Orchestra founder John McLaughlin, but also, straight-ahead bop favorites such as Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.......eclectic outlook is one of her strong points; her ability to move from a tough, aggressive blues-rock groove to a more cerebral, fusion-minded approach to the occasional soul-jazz/hard bop number has made for some very unpredictable albums.

I have been teaching full-time for the past 15years. I have taught all ages and popular styles. In 2008, my blues guitar method was published and distributed through Amazon.

I incorporate a tailored curriculum to help people achieve their personal goals. Learning music is not a "one-size fits all" proposition. I can show you the songs that you want to play. I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvisation, reading and more. I adjust your course of study according to your areas of interest. If you are dying to learn a Led Zeppelin tune, or are planning on auditioning for a college level jazz guitar program, I can help you achieve these goals. I have taught hundreds of beginners along side more advanced students. My students have gone one to study music at GIT, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College, Berklee, Cal State LA, and USC.

Most of all, I am extremely patient. The ability to playing a musical instrument is measure on a calendar, not on a watch. I often work at a slow, systematic pace. I am generally very laid-back. On the other hand, if you learn very quickly, I can readily show you the skills you need to meet your goal. I have fast-tracked many individuals that were seeking admittance to an academic program.

My teaching studio is computer equipped. This allows me to incorporate computer software that enhances learning. One such program, Band in a Box, generates accompaniment for students so that they can work on their soloing skills. Another program can slow recorded music down so that the student can practice slowly with it. Also, I often give out play-along practice CDs for improved learning.

The aspect of performance is often not addressed by many. I am able to work with my guitar students while accompanying by performing live bass or drum parts, or work with bass students while playing the guitar or drum parts. This allows the student to understand his or her roll in an live band.

I really like Kimberly because she lets me pick my own songs to learn and is really nice in general. She makes music sheets for me to take home and study and I’ve learned a lot from her since my first lesson. I think she is a great music teacher and I hope anybody who wants to take guitar lessons will give her a shot.

Almost all forms popular music in America got it's start in the blues. Musical genres such as both jazz and rock have their roots deeply in the blues. Some blues songs, such as Stormy Monday by T. Bone Walker were using basic blues chord patterns, but then on the 6th measure of each verse, T Bone would throw in a standard jazz chord progression. G9, Am7, Bm7, Bb13, Am7, D7b9, G9, followed by C9 back to the G9 and then the verse would end on a dominant 5th chord with a #9th, [D7#9]. This is where the 2 genres sometimes started to really mix with each other. Blues is the foundation where this all began. Rock and roll on the other hand, stayed closer to older and simpler blues chord progressions and licks, but played the tempos far quicker than a blues song would play, and the rhythm section would also play a lot more aggressively than a blues band would. Early rock and roll stayed very close to the original and more simple chord progressions of the earlier blues songs.

I have been seeing Jeff for about 3 years. I was an old folkie - with no time to practice - for about 50 years, but finally my wife bought me some lessons when I retired. Hit it off with Jeff immediately. He really knows the music I want - which in my case is classic rock - but he can do pretty much anything you need. Still give him 5 stars!

My name is Cullen G. and I teach guitar, bass, and ukulele lessons in various styles of music and to people of all ages. I have been playing music for over 12 years now and have taught lessons throughout the last 6 years.

As someone who pushes themselves daily to further develop their musical skills, I find it very important to not only give back some of the knowledge I've acquired over the years but to also help others learn how to learn effectively and efficiently. Having spent time learning and playing in various settings, from high school jazz bands to jam sessions to recording sessions, I've been able to distill what's essential across different styles and present them in an easily digestible way, allowing for students to see the connections between their favorite music and the underlying elements of music in general.

For each student, I tailor a lesson plan built around the student's long term goals. Whether it's learning your favorite songs, how to write your ...

About Cullen
Having been a musician for the last 15 years and a music teacher for the last six, I feel that at this point I can distill the most valuable lessons I've learned over the years and present them in an easy to grasp manner. As someone who continues to actively improve their own skills, I understand how to establish great practicing habits as well as get to the heart of what's most important in achieving different musical goals.

While guitar and bass are my primary instruments, I also play drums, keys, and ukulele. Constantly striving to revisit the state of being a beginner has allowed me to refine the universal qualities associated with learning in general, music especially. I have played in many different contexts, ranging from big bands and jazz combos to rock bands and recording projects. These different experiences have offered
valuable insights into not only playing music, but also creating it and working together with other musicians. These insights are a joy to share and I feel that there's great value in helping others learn quickly and effectively.

The world of music is a vast one and the astonishing number of genres and unique artists is truly inspiring. When it comes to learning the particular language of a genre or artist there are specific nuances that create an overall feel when put together. I can not only show you how to practically employ those skills but I can also explain how it works in terms of theory, which can be invaluable when wanting to incorporate certain flavors into your own writing. My goal is to make your goals a priority while making the way there a fun yet efficient journey.

Thank you for your interest!
