I have been playing guitar (self taught) for about 25 years, just not very well. I was looking for a teacher that could help me fill in the music theory gaps. As well as help me formulate a meaningful practice plan that will get me over my hump. I gotta say Scott has hit the nail on the head every lesson. He first listened.. and as a result has delivered an eye opening and inspiring lesson every time. I highly recommend Scott for guitarists of all levels. He knows his STUFF!! Better yet, he knows how pull what YOU need from what he knows and deliver it effectively.

I enjoy working with students of all ages and ability levels. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I’m confident that I can help you learn how to play more proficiently on the guitar and gain more satisfaction from your playing. I do not think that there is one “correct” approach to learning and I find that working on a variety of genres helps students grow the fastest while enjoying the process.

With an efficient combination of exercises, technical development and song learning, you'll see yourself improving on your instrument faster than you thought possible.

About Andrew

Hi, my name is Andrew. I'm a professional guitarist, bassist, and recording artist located in Virginia. I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013 with a B.A. in Music Performance and Technology. I have over 10 years of experience teaching and enjoy working with students of all ability levels. St

Andrew is an excellent instructor and group director. He understands his craft very, very well and is able to instruct in a clear and effective manner. He has the ability to teach all ages, from young beginning musicians to senior citizens of all experience levels. His instructions lead to learning how to play very quickly. He matches his level of instruction both to the student's needs and desires. Andrew does not get locked into strict methods that can become quite boring like some other instructors, but rather tailors his instructions to the individual. If you have the desire to learn, Andrew will take you where you want to go with music. It is important to note that, as well as guitar, Andrew can play and teach drums, keyboard, bass guitar, and trombone. Thus, Andrew knows well how to blend these instruments into an effective group. He knows how to lead a band and get the most from the group.
Andrew is well educated in music. In addition to his teaching and directing abilities, he demonstrates exceptional professionalism in all he does. I have seen him work with venues to set up performances. He is clearly respected by the venues as well as his peers. I have seen his peers seek his advice on music matters relating to instruction, direction, and arrangements. While serious in his endeavors, he also demonstrates a great empathy for people and a terrific sense of humor. I have seen parents and students request him specifically because of these fine qualities. Some people are born to do certain things in life. Andrew was born to inspire and teach music to anyone interested in learning.
People enjoy music in different ways. Andrew is able to understand people's musical interests and abilities and is able to adapt his instructions according to the individual's talents and desires. He responds well to his students questions and needs. He is interested in seeing his students grow and keeps adding more challenges as his students advance. If a student prefers to go in a different direction with lessons, Andrew quickly revises his approach. I was taught by Andrew for 4 years in private lessons and group band. He presented many different types of music, riffs, and styles. It is not a stretch to say that learning from Andrew is exciting and challenging.

I can play any number of styles from blues and country to hard rock and heavy metal I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I know music theory very well and I'm great with making the theory part fun to learn while teaching to play a style that the student prefers. I'm an easy going guy and really patient. I make the promise to every student that I will give them every bit of effort and support I can to propel them in their music career. I'm one of those people who gets along with everybody and I like to make my lessons fun for each student.

About Garrett

I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now and I've played in just about every type of band. After playing in a metal band for about 5 years I switched over to a classic rock group for a couple years. In both of those groups I was lead guitar/lead vocals. Now for the last few years I've bee

I tried learning guitar a number of years ago. Garrett was great getting me started back into guitar. He quickly got me going with some simple chords and techniques. He has a strong understanding of guitar and makes it easy to understand. + he can play anything!

What can I say about Garrett. I have never met a better guitarist in my 20 years of playing. Taking lessons with him was one of the best decisions I ever made. I would pay him double. No matter the guitar style, Garrett seems to have played it for years and has real insight on any of the different styles from Blues, to Country, to Rock, to Classic Rock, to Metal. He helped me not just learn riffs or songs but scales and has bug in teaching me more advanced music theory as well. He truly is the perfect mix of good person and amazing guitarist. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the best no matter your skill level!

"I've been taking guitar lessons across the country since 1975, and Mark is the best instructor I've ever had. His expertise on the instrument is only surpassed by his ability to make something complicated appear simple for the student. I've had more fun taking lessons and practicing in the past 6 months as Mark's student than I have in the previous 40 years. I highly recommend him."

"Ahmad has opened up the world of music to me. Before I started taking lessons with Ahmad, music was simply something I enjoyed listening to, but was a bit of an abstraction. I had always wanted to learn an instrument, specifically the guitar, but had suffered an injury to my finger when I was a teenager and thought there was little point in trying with a significant handicap. Now at middle age I decided to try anyway.

For two years I've been taking lessons with Ahmad every week or two and have found a lifelong hobby. Ahmad has been patient and understanding to my level of ability and has guided me to not only improve dramatically my level of playing, but also has taught me the basic fundamentals of music which makes me appreciate listening to and playing music more than I ever had. Ahmad is a gifted teacher who can quickly uncover and fix fundamental problems with technique and builds lesson plans to teach one how to play the guitar as a musical instrument.

I am so happy I found Ahmad. He has given me a lifelong passion to improve my playing and a deeper understanding of the music I've loved my entire life. If you've ever thought about learning the guitar, do yourself a favor and see Ahmad now."

"Frank is a thorough and detailed teacher. He is always prepared for each lesson and will cater each week based on your needs and interests. He is skilled at teaching theory and technique through practice and real life musical examples. In other words you will learn to play a lot of music while simultaneously becoming a more knowledgeable musician. As a musician he is like a human jukebox And has experience playing in many different styles. I purchased his books, published by Alfred‘s music from Amazon and I have used those as reference points for my learning as well. Without a doubt I recommend Frank as a teacher and for any age group or level of interest. I give him five stars he’s fantastic!"

"I am a 64 year old woman who wanted to learn to play electric guitar blues lead. I have worked with musicians who teach and have been very disappointed. As soon as I read Chris' profile, I knew he would be a good teacher. I am a professional tutor and I could tell by the way Chris wrote about teaching that he would be skilled. I was absolutely accurate. Chris knows a lot about music and guitar playing, and he is also thoughtful and very present to the student. He is flexible and can move with a student who needs that. He also can work from a theory based place if the student needs that. To help me, he has written tab guitar licks for me, recorded Mp3 examples, and chord diagrams. I cannot speak highly enough about Chris as a teacher and highly recommend him."

"Very patient and informative. Allowed me to ask endless questions. Addressed all my concerns and removed any doubt about this arrangement working specifically for me and my schedule. His studio has a very nice setup and it's simplified. We did a breakdown of my experience and focused on setting realistic goals towards my learning process. More than a "Teacher" of music but a "Professor" of guitar methods! He focused in on getting me comfortable with the most basic of finger techniques, finger placement and familiarized with the sections of the solo lead guitar. After an hour's session my mind was put at ease about my ability to be patient with myself. I was never made to feel awkward or out of my league. This caused me to open up and to really focus. Mr.Cole has a great style and passion towards helping me to soak in as much content as possible. His location is within a community that's family orientated. I look forward to being tutored by Mr.Cole over the course of the next year without any complications."

"Heading into my first class with Tim, I had almost no musical experience (at least for the last 15+ years). In a very casual way, he was able to get a sense of where I was and where he should start with my instruction.

I was very reluctant to take lessons at first, but my wife got me started with Tim and it was really worth it. He was accommodating to my relatively slow speed of learning and easily adapted to my own musical preferences and interests.

His studio is a great space and is located within a really cool, historic building. The sound is fantastic and it's a comfortable space to practice in.

I highly recommend Tim for lessons - especially for adults who may not be able to dedicate hours a day to practicing. I took lessons weekly for three months and I got a great foundation for practicing. Once my life settles down a little, I definitely hope to go back."

A shuffle is a rhythm of 8th notes played in triplets, essentially playing 3/4 time over a 4/4 beat to make the music swing. Blues, pop, jazz, and rock musicians all use the shuffle. The blues shuffle is a fun pattern that is simple to absorb into your playing across many genres of music.
