TENOR BANJO - MANDOLIN - TENOR GUITAR - ACOUSTIC GUITAR
Please go to the instrument listing and it will explain about that particular Instrument.
Hello,
I first want to explain about the Tenor Banjo it's different from the 5 string Banjo used mostly in Bluegrass and Country.
Tenor Banjo has 4 strings, it comes in 17 fret and 19 fret and generally used in Irish/Celtic and Jazz music.
Irish /Celtic music you play single note melodies and in Jazz the majority of the time you strum.
Standard Tuning: C, G, D, A - Same as a Viola and Cello
Irish Tenor Tuning: G, D, A, E - Same as a Mandolin and Violin
Chicago Tuning: D, G, B, E - This tuning is the same as the first four strings of a guitar
The name "Tenor" has nothing to do with the pitch, I read it was a mistake somewhere in history as 4 string banjos were used in American Tango in the 20th century called Tango Banjos, then somewhere changed to Tenor through time.
I accommodate all students differently ...

to get me started on the basics of the tenor banjo in our first lesson and even made me my own binder of music for me to practice at home. It’s hard to come by someone who actually knows the tenor banjo and I feel lucky to have found a great teacher! He really look the time to make sure I felt comfortable practicing for our next session. I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Antonio.

I have been playing and teaching banjo since 2006, and I'm always very excited to introduce new students to this unique instrument. I focus on the "Scruggs-style" method of playing 5-string banjo, and we'll work on techniques used in common bluegrass and folk tunes. As you advance, I'll help you in creating your own banjo solo breaks.

Loud, jangly, and twangy, the banjo is an instrument with a distinctive voice that immediately evokes the spirit of the American South. Long a mainstay of bluegrass music, banjos have recently been incorporated into pop music as well by bands like Mumford and Sons. And, if YouTube trends are any indication, it looks like the banjo is making another genre shift! A pack of viral videos featuring banjo covers of hard rock classics are making the rounds and proving that banjos can shred just a …
