I've played guitar since I was only eight years old (over 20 years!) in many different bands, styles, and genres. I played in a traditional Irish ensemble when I was in college and have since picked up banjo, mandolin, harmonica, and bodhran (an Irish hand drum). I love playing and teaching bluegrass music, it's a special challenge both for me and the students!

Hi fellow musicians! I am a professional touring musician, songwriter, and recording artist based in Austin, TX. I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Mandolin Performance and a minor in American Roots Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Every musician has their own voice in this world. I want to work with you to mold and develop that voice with solid fundamentals and understanding of how music works. We will go over music theory and how it applies to your instrument and we will also touch on the mechanics of being a proficient player. All these things lead to being the best musician you can be!

I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

Hi! I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I was introduced to guitar by my older brother. He taught me Johnny B. Goode & we would jam for hours. I took some music classes at college but was a business major. Colleges only offered classical guitar & I was not interested in that. I have since studied six years with SF Conservatory graduate & classical guitarist Tim Lawler. Tim helped me learn to read music & develop my teaching skills. Thanks Tim!
I have been teaching for over 25 years, making a living at it for most of that time. I teach group & private lessons. Most of my students are beginners. Many start out as kids & stay until they go to college. I have a lot of teen & adult students also, with many diverse interests from classical, jazz, rock, funk, blues, alt, pop, rap, punk, metal, folk, country, game music, Americana, reggae, bluegrass. I teach many areas of Bluegrass guitar: basic to advanced rhythm styles, lead guitar, fingerpicking, improvisation. I also teach how to read music and play by ear.
