About Matthew
Hi.. My name is Matt. I'm a very energetic, friendly, understanding & passionate music coach who has worked with students & clientele throughout the US. Possessing more than 25 years of music training & music industry experience, I've been able to take people's Playing to amazing levels.

In my musical travels I've networked or shared the stage with many famous NW music legends:
1.) Roger Fisher- Heart-2013 Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
2.) Lynn Sorensen- Paul Rogers/Bad Co/KZOK's Spike & Impalers
3.) Donny Evola - Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche/Foghat
4.) Jeff Kathan- Paul Rogers/Bad Company/Montrose
5.) Doug Mcgrew- Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche Singer/Operation Mindcrime
6.) Update - For the last year I have been playing off and on with Rudy Parris from NBC TV's "The Voice". Season 3 - Team Blake. He is an incredible music
ian and I'm proud to call him and his manager my friends. His new album coming out is nothing short of amazing.

In fact everyone I've mentioned above are pro all the way and great guys as well. I"m honored to have played with them.

I challenge my students to view music more than just as a "skill", but also a tool to communicate effectively and to combat life's obstacles.

I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW. Congrats Rog. U Earned It, & inspire myself, & others everyday.

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.

But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!

I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.

Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...

Let me be the Music Coach to get you there!

I have some experience with WordPress but Matthew helped fill in some of the gaps for me. He is an easy going person with a friendly no pressure approach to teaching. His recommendations for me to consider for my site were on point and very helpful. His knowledge of using the proper keywords plus adding call to action buttons on my site were extremely helpful, I now feel I have the right tools in making my site stand out.
He event spent some time researching my issues before we had our first meeting. I look forward to working more with Matthew.

For most of us drummers and rhythmatists we cannot go an hour without banging something or tapping or humming or moving.. if this describes you or your child then Im the guy who would be delighted to foster your development in your lifelong pursuit of the ultimate beat. I cannot give you God given talent , but I can take what talent god has given you and accentuate the positive. Work with you on fundamentals, technique, timbre, timing, tuning, sight reading..the list goes on..Its a lifelong pursuit..How long you choose to pursue it is up to you.. Im here to be your mentor.

Im pretty laid back with teaching discipline. Either you got it or you dont. I cannot push you or force you into practicing.. You must inherently love music and love rhythm and love drumming or percussion. If I am working with you on Kit drumming you will be starting out with the basics unless you have experience. I normally do an assessment to determine where you are at.. If I am teaching you hand percussion or African or Asian based drums then its strictly an aural based learning experience. No books just memorization. Kit drumming will require either you have your own Drum kit if I am coming to your house or of you travel to my studio I will have 1 drum kit to share , but you must have your own sticks. I do employ books in Drum Kit lessons. I will give you the names of the books based on what I think your level is and we can go from there..

Music is a complex yet beautiful language. Once you are immersed in the culture of the beat your journey thus begins. And journeys like these last a lifetime. I hope I can be a part of your experience.

Many Blessings
One Rhythm
One Love

Beginner to intermediate music recording instruction and tips to assist you with basic recording skills. While I can't help you with Pro Tools or Logic, I have extensive experience with Garageband, having recorded an entire CD with it and as well as countless other tracks.

About Jeff
Jeff is a seasoned instructor in guitar, songwriting, music performance and music business. He also offers lessons in public speaking, voice-over performance and ukulele. He welcomes students of all ages and experience and has successfully and happily taught beginners to pro-level musicians and recording artists. Jeff is pleased to announce that he is currently accepting Takelessons online students via Skype.

Jeff can teach guitar and songwriting in all styles and is an adept acoustic and electric guitarist. His knowledge of chords is extensive and his acoustic fingerpicking skills are formidable. Jeff structures all lessons around the individual goals and playing level of his students. Jeff's students tend to study with him for quite some time, as his wealth of knowledge, diversity of instruction and patience are extraordinary
. Jeff prides himself on customizing every student's lessons based on their particular preferences, goals and skill level. "It's a very personalized kind of instruction, as I never take a cookie-cutter
approach to teaching…".
Jeff's 3 promises to all students is to give them personalized lessons, be attentive to their needs and goals. and to make them feel like every lesson is worth their investment of time and money. As long as students practice regularly, they can expect to dramatically increase their clarity of playing, their chord "inventory", their musical ear and awareness and play the songs they've always wanted to learn.

After honing his craft as a songwriter and performer, Jeff created and taught songwriting and music business classes at colleges, universities, and music schools throughout the country for many years. Some of the places he taught include UCLA Extension, Santa Monica College, Pasadena City College and The Harrison School Of Music.
When asked to summarize his views on teaching and music: "Teaching and playing music always puts a smile on my face; especially when I see that the student is having fun, learning what they want to learn and feeling the passion about music that motivated me to pursue my own musical career".

As a working singer/songwriter/guitarist, Jeff is known for his memorable melodies, intelligently crafted lyrics and heartfelt vocals. His compositions have earned him over 35 awards from various national and international songwriting contests and he's a former staff songwriter for the long-standing New York City-based publisher, Bourne Music. He has also won best music video awards at 3 international film festivals.

Some of the artists that Jeff has been compared to as a guitarist and vocalist include Keb' Mo', James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Ry Cooder, John Mayer, Bill Withers, Jim Croce, and Don Henley.

Jeff is a NJ native, but lived and performed in Los Angeles for many years, where he worked in the studio or shared the stage with well-known artists such as Dave Koz, Norman Brown, John Daversa, Hiroshima, Little Richard and N'Dea Davenport.

Jeff catalog of over 450 songs and compositions spans virtually every genre, but many of his tunes are amalgams of pop, blues, jazz, R&B, country and rock. Quite a number of Jeff's songs
have appeared in film and TV. One that Jeff is particularly proud of, is the dynamic pop ballad, "Journey Of The Heart" (co-written by Jeanne Smith), which was licensed by the N.C.A.A. (National
Collegiate Athletic Association), who deemed it "the official anthem" of their NCAA Hall Of Champions facility in Indianapolis.

Jeff has commercially released 4 CD's of his original material: The most recent of these is his 2013 release, "Blujanova" (a merging of blues, jazz and bossa nova), which was praised by platinum selling and Grammy-nominated jazz star, Dave Koz: "Jeff's voice is so clean and pure...the production is lovely...warm and inviting...I love the interesting and surprising takes on some classics too, especially 'I Feel Good'…that brought a smile to my face!".
The other CD's stretch into other genres. "Truthteller" (bluesy pop/rock and singer/songwriter material) "Me, Myself, and I" (acoustic) and "The Spin" (pop, rock, and country-tinged singer/songwriter material). All of Jeff's albums are on his label, Relevant Records. The late great John Braheny, author of the best-selling "The Craft And Business Of Songwriting (Writer's Digest Books), gave high praise to Jeff's CD, "The Spin", calling it "honest, crafty, melodic and the songs are all exceptional". Patch.com called Jeff "a consummate songwriter".

*** Lesson Details ***
At the first lesson, I will ask you to tell me what songs you want to play and artists you want to play like and I will set the table for that by providing the chords you'll need, chord and scales and exercises to enable you to play them and guidelines and tricks on how to make it happen as quickly as possible. I know a wide variety of songs in all styles and styles, including current hit songs as well as pop, rock, blues, jazz, country songs. if you have a song or artist that I don't know already, I will learn it (often on the spot) and if not right then, at the next lesson. I have taught my students to play songs by artists as varied as Taylor Swift, U2, Jason Mraz, Adele, Eric Clapton, Django Reinhardt, Doc Watson. And that's just naming a few.

I always make it clear to my students at the first lesson: "There is no such thing as a stupid question". I want you to feel comfortable to stop me at any time to clarify what I am teaching you, ESPECIALLY if it is too difficult or vague. I pride myself on always being organized for your lesson and making sure that you grasp whatever it is I am teaching you. The goal is to get you to be able to play what you want as quickly as possible. This will take practice and dedication on your part, but I will do everything in my power to help you get there.

I never force anything on any of my students. but I feel it would be beneficial for you to learn to read music OR read tablature and chord diagrams. You tell me which one and we'll go in that direction. If you'd like to read music, then we can decide on a book for you. I have used Hal Leonard instructional books (with CD's! this way you can play with a backing track and get a sense of rhythm, which is very important), but I'm open to other method books you might have or like.

After 3 to 6 months, you will feel you are significantly more skilled on the guitar than you were before we started lessons. You will know more chords (and move from chord to chord), be able to do at least some basic fingerpicking and be able to read some music or tablature.

*** Specialties ***
Acoustic fingerstyle guitar (a la James Taylor, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Keb' Mo', Jason Mraz, John Martyn, Jim Croce, etc.

Blues guitar a la Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Keb' Mo', Jorma Kaukonen, Ry Cooder, etc.

Bossa nova guitar

Songwriting (any aspect and any level; musically, lyrically, structurally, etc.)

the songs of Taylor Swift---quite a few of my younger students want to play her material, so I have about 15 songs ready to teach you and always learning more (by popular demand)

Adapting songs that are keyboard-based and creating arrangements of them for acoustic guitar. Examples include songs by Adele, songs by Elton John, Irina Menzel's huge hit song from "Frozen", John Legend's "All Of Me", Coldplay's "Viva La Vida", etc.

Recording on Garageband.
I became so skilled with Garageband that I was asked to give seminars at Apple Store locations, showcasing my recordings and how to use the program.

I've been teaching music and piano performance for over 20 years and my students have gone on to win international competitions and be major in piano performance at college and Universities. I have recording experience with very young children and adults. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play professionally and record your pieces and as time goes on you'll be able to build up your own digital repertoire. I specialize in piano performance and music Theory/musicology, typically use the Suzuki Method for very young beginners and Musilanguage books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Antonella
I have an extensive training in "training" musicians: it doesn't matter if you are young or old, beginner or advanced, I will bring you to the next level.
I am a pianist and a music theorist, I am a dedicated and successful teacher. I hold degrees from Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Italy, Accademia Puccininana, I have a Master in piano performance and am working through my PhD in Music Theory. As you can see, I love to learn.
My lessons will take you where you are and bring you a step further. I'll explain you in detail how to reach your goals faster.
Sometimes you'll need to work on your own way to learn, on yourself. I'll be always there to help you!
Why you should have lesson with me?
Simply because I am among the best teachers in the world and I love the idea to reach more students through this medium. And you'll have fun for su
re.

Antonella has been teaching piano to my two daughters (ages 8 and 12) for a number of years now. They have progressed terrifically during that time and really enjoy learning from her. She has a gentle approach but also keeps the girls focused and accountable which is important. They have had multiple opportunities to perform in recitals and competitions that are always enjoyable as well. Antonella is a excellent teacher that I would highly recommend.

My 7 year old daughter started taking piano lessons this year with Antonella. I am amazed that within such a short period of time she has learned so much. She has progressed from 'Mary had a little Lamb' to really beautiful more complex pieces in what seems like no time.
Antonella is a really excellent teacher, very patient and supportive, yet constantly pushing (gently) to make the student better. She is an incredible pianist herself and really encourages Aoife not just to learn and play the notes, but to really use good movement and techniques which make such a difference to the sound of the piece.
Antonella is professional, committed, highly skilled and very passionate about what she does. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her as an amazing piano teacher.

We will focus on fundamental concepts of recording including (but not limited to) mic placement techniques, sound manipulation, room manipulation, mixing, editing, processing, and mastering. It sounds boring, but it's not! I look forward to helping to learn more about how to produce quality music.

About Nicholas
*** General Bio ***
Hi, my name is Nick and I am born-and-raised in the pacific northwest! Initially from the Olympia, WA area, I relocated to Seattle in the fall of 2002, and have called Seattle home ever since. I received my education from the renown University of Washington School of Music with a Bachelor's in Music Performance (jazz studies). My career in music since moving to Seattle has provided me many extraordinary experiences both as a performer and an educator that I am quite thankful for.

I am most known in the northwest music/percussion community from a recent 7-year stint instructing and coordinating the University of Washington Husky Drumline. During my time with UW, I helped propel the UW drumline from regional to national prominence by consistently elevating the level of performance year-by-year while bolstering multip
le social media platforms that led to greater recruiting outreach and subsequent response. I was also able to engage the group in similar publicity endeavors with our corporate sponsors such as Remo Drumheads, Pearl drums, and Vic Firth Drumsticks.

In the summer of 2013, I held the position of Percussion Caption Head for the World Class DCI Corps, The Seattle Cascades. We led the Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps to their highest percussion scoring in 6 years, and in any year since. Last but not least, I have also been involved with both the Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline & Sounders Sound Wave spanning 4 seasons total.

Outside of marching percussion, I've spent significant time fine-tuning a wide array of musical genres behind the drumkit including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Big Band, Funk, Blues, R&B, Soul, Rock Opera, and Electronic, and I've even dabbled in Gospel, Folk, Roots, Country, Musical Theater, Classical, Metal, and Punk.

I currently tour with cinematic-electro-pop band HARPS and over the years have been lucky enough to be involved with Allen Stone, Megan Wilde, Headwaves, Tess Henley, Cracker Factory, and Discs of Fury along the way.

In addition, I've built a sizable following of drumming enthusiasts on YouTube gaining world-wide acclaim from a short series of note-for-note transcription performance videos. Perhaps most remarkable was a very accurate replication of a near 5-minute classic Aaron Spears solo from his performance at the 2006 Modern Drummer Festival Weekend of Usher’s hit “Caught Up”. Spears himself lauded the effort via Twitter within hours of the original upload.

I proudly endorse Pearl Drums, Remo Drumheads, and Vic Firth Drumsticks and mallets.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that good teaching revolves around finding the right balance of three things: what the student wants, what the student needs, and what the student can handle.

As your teacher, I will do my very best in making you a more complete and well-rounded musician while helping guide you toward your goals. Whether you're just starting out, or an experienced pro wanting to brush up on a few new skills, I can help you. Over the past 13 years, I have successfully instructed folks from every age range and skill level, both in ensemble settings of various shapes and sizes, and one-on-one. I'd love to have the opportunity to help you, too!

I have a general core curriculum that I like to follow, but also understand when being overly regimented can take the fun out of the experience. I try my best to go at the student's pace while working to expose them to the necessary material that will ultimately allow them to achieve their goals.

My curriculum utilizes recordings, videos, demonstrations, transcriptions, books, play alongs, and the like. I focus a great deal on maintaining great posture with relaxed playing technique, as well as listening, reading, improvisation, and ear training.

Note for those with special needs: I have experience working with kids with the following conditions: Dyslexia, Partial Deafness, and Asperger Syndrome. In all cases, I was able to help each individual overcome these tremendous obstacles and become quite proficient performers within their ensembles. However, I do ask that any parents get in touch prior to booking lessons so that we may have a conversation about the details of each person's respective situation. That way, I believe I can make sure that I am the right person for the job as each situation is different and requires such special consideration.

Also: I do have experience teaching through a translator.

I have been recording music back In Mozambique where I was born and in the USA. I am working as a freelance Recording and Mixing engineer

About Albino
Albino was born in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, a country in southern Africa known for its rich musical and cultural heritage. Fueled by the resourcefulness and determination that have always characterized Mozambicans, he built his first guitar at 16 from a 5-liter can of oil, scrap wood, and strings made out of electrical cords.

Drawn to the sounds of neighborhood street musicians in Maputo, Albino began to play in a number of local bands. As with his home-made guitar, Albino wanted to combine styles and incorporate diverse elements in his music. For his talents to grow, he knew he needed experience new places, cultures, and sounds.

While studying music education and Performance at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique, he heard about the Berklee School of Music in Boston, USA, where he could expand his musical horizons
. Soon after, he was one of the first students to receive a full scholarship to Berklee through the African Scholars program. In 2009, he settled in Boston, Massachusetts.

At Berklee, he was exposed to a variety of influences, but wanted to go deeper into the roots of jazz and expand his knowledge of music. He auditioned and was selected to participate in the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, which is directed by Danilo Perez and the residency teachers, including Joe Lovano John Patitucci, and Terri Lyne Carrington. The Institute emphasizes an artist's original vision in jazz, and has helped Albino find his own unique voice in the art form.

Albino still felt the absence of his own Mozambican traditions in his music. With the help of his mentors, Richard Bona and Lionel Loueke, two of the most prominent African musicians in the United States of America today, he began to bridge that gap.

Today, Albino's music succeeds in combining many disparate parts into an organic whole. It incorporates his musical experiences from Mozambique, the U.S., and many other places around the world, combining rhythmic patterns and musical concepts to create a unique Moz-Jazz sound. He will always continue to combine and capture the energies of different musical traditions to create a unified and original musical style.

Albino's original composition “Mozambique Dance” was recorded by Jazz Revelation Records, a student-run record label at the Berklee College of Music, for the 8th annual album released in 2011. He also recorded “Awusiwana,” his own composition, for the Berklee 2012 summer album. His debut album, also called Mozambique Dance, is to be released in Spring 2013.

Albino is an active musician, and has performed in several countries including Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Italy, the U.S., and Mexico. He has also produced and recorded various projects in Mozambique and in the United States. In 2012, he will graduate from Berklee College with a degree in Music Production & Engineering and Performance, and a minor in Acoustics and Electronics.

Microphone tips and techniques, recording tips pertaining to vocal performance in the studio.

About Annie
I have been studying voice and music since I was 10 years old. I am from the suburbs of Detroit, and grew up encouraged to pursue violin and voice by my dad who is a musician, singer-songwriter and producer. I studied the Suzuki method; an ear training based program developed in Japan after WWII specifically for violinists, that ended up being very beneficial for vocal study. Having a well trained ear helped me to become a better writer, navigate harmonic changes more fluidly, and have the ability to recolor harmonies to keep audience members on their toes!

After performing around Detroit at various clubs with a jazz trio from 2008-2010, singing the National Anthem regularly at Pistons games, and recording jingles at the well renowned Harmonie Park Studios under the guidance of Brian and Mark Pastoria, I decided to further my educat
ion at Berklee mainly for my love of jazz and contemporary music.

At Berklee, I received my B.M. in Music Business Management and Songwriting (Class of 2013). It was at Berklee that I truly honed my skills as a jazz musician with harmony and history of harmony classes, and learned tools for songwriting and recording at home. Initially, I thought I wanted to become a music agent, but after having spent time interning for AM Only, a subsidiary of Paradigm, I decided that I could not abandon my love for my craft as a career.

I moved to New York in 2014 and opened The Vocal Lab and Music School with the philosophy that vocal students should not just be students of the voice, but of music and musical concepts. Vocalists are musicians, after all, and must have a conceptual understanding of music to be better vocalists.

I have always been a proponent of health and wellness, and have based my philosophy around this as well. My students receive a total body approach to vocal study so that they develop a keen sense of self awareness to determine what it means to take an adequate diaphragmatic breath, understand where our resonators are located within the body and how we can use them for continuity, efficiency and projection.

I strive to have strong interpersonal relationships with all of my students, and help them grow as individuals, musicians, vocalists and artists.

Outside of running The Vocal Lab and Music School, I am currently recording my forthcoming album with my project, Annie and the Husbands. I also sing with two jazz groups within the city under my name, and record commercial top line work.

I live in Brooklyn and am an avid Yogi and runner! I also love to cook and have my students over for dinner sometimes.

You can check out my performance schedule at the link below as well as The Vocal Lab and Music School website. Hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon!

Annie provides a relaxing atmosphere where the student can feel comfortable in the lesson space. The lessons are catered towards the student's specific needs. And Annie is also very young and modern in her approach while still offering theoretic guidance along the way.

Annie is an amazing teacher. My 11 year old daughter loves voice lessons. Annie is warm, funny, patient and super talented. My daughter who is a novice has learned so much from her in a relatively short time. Working with Annie, my daughter has gained confidence in using her voice. Annie gives her great tools for visualizing. understanding and accessing her voice as an instrument.
