I have been studying country guitar since 2005, playing professionally as a country guitarist since 2007 for nationally acclaimed acts, such as Paulette Carlson (of Highway 101 fame), & Doug Allen Nash (America's #1 Johnny Cash tribute). In our lessons we will cover many techniques techniques, such as chicken picking, using a slide, capoing techniques, performing double- & triple-stops, soloing strategies, etc. We'll also look at how to achieve good country tones, looking to the great players of the genre for examples to follow.

About Alex
Hey, my name is Alex. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, voice, drums, flute, etc.), composer, performer, recording artist, arranger/orchestrator/transcriber, recording engineer/producer & music educator.

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas "Cum Laude" in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, with minors in Music Production & Composition. While attending St. Thomas I served as the Music Theory tutor, as well as the live sound/stage/light/recording technician for student & faculty recitals.

I have been playing professionally & teaching for over a decade. My passion for music is something that I love to share with anyone else who feels inclined to make music. My goal is to share the skills & knowledge I've acquired throughout my experiences with those willing to learn & dedicate themselves
to the craft of making music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am experienced in most major genres of music: classical, jazz, blues, rock, funk, folk, metal, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, instrumental rock, "shred," pop, world music, electronica, etc. & feel comfortable conveying the techniques, approaches & idioms to a student by breaking them down into digestible components, while making these new ideas relatable to material they are already familiar with.

In the end, I want the student to learn what they're most interested in learning. I'm here to answer any questions they may have & with my experiences, I feel confident that I will be able to either answer these questions or point them in the right direction. Some topics covered:

Scales/modes
Ear training
Instrument-specific techniques (ie bending, tapping, sweep picking, etc.)
Songwriting & Composition
Arranging & Orchestrating
Sight-reading
Improvisation
Chordal theory & how to read charts
Practice routines & approaches
Instrument maintenance
Instrument-based gear (guitars, amplifiers, effects, picks, slides, capos, etc.)

The student will learn at the pace they set for themselves & can only get out of it the amount of effort they put forth. I expect my students to practice on a regular basis (however brief each session may be). Consistency is key for progress to be made, & if they hold up their end of the bargain, the payoffs will be quite substantial!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Practice amplifier, tuner, music stand(s), guitar picks & cables.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide guitar neck paper. I expect the students to have their own instrument & any materials they may need to achieve the goals they've set for themselves (such as a weekly notebook).

*** Specialties ***
Progressive rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, funk, disco, classical, acoustic fingerstyle/slap, flamenco guitar; music theory, sight-reading, composition, songwriting, film scoring, music production.

I took beginner's guitar lessons with Alex. He took into account what my playing goals were, stylewise and whatnot. He's super knowledgeable on musical subjects besides just guitar. I've come away feeling that I have good foundational knowledge to build upon as I progress in my playing. I had the five lesson package, which I felt suited my needs. Tip: If you do something like that, space out your lessons at least every other week, so that you have time to practice and grasp what you're learning. Be sure to ask questions if something is new to you, especially if you're a beginner. I highly recommend guitar lessons from Alex!

Just my first lesson with Ben. But clearly he's very knowledgeable and loves what he does. He quickly assessed where I was, stayed positive, and gave me some things to work on and practice before our next lesson. Glad I found him!

Beginner to intermediate guitar player's last stop for a great guitar teacher! What's a beginner? You have no knowledge or experience playing. What's intermediate? You have limited knowledge and/or are familiar w/ some chord names/shapes.

Learn everything about how the guitar works while learning how to play and write songs. We'll have tons of ways to develop your rhythm, finger strength and flexibility. Together, we'll avoid bad habits so you can progress faster!

Lessons feature various styles of music, appropriate for all ages: blues, rock, pop, country, folk , jazz, funk, latin and reggae. Even though I can teach multiple genres; if you want to focus on one type or certain artists, we can definitely do that!

I follow a structured way of learning guitar based on a guitar course I've created; and I customize the lessons according to the student's needs and wants. Whether you want to play in a band or just have fun - your personalized lessons will help you achieve that goal!

About Rachel
Rachel started playing guitar and singing when she was 13 when she got a Christmas present from her father who happens to be a musician, also. Learning covers for a few years she eventually started writing her own music around age 16.

Now, 31, she teaches beginner guitar classes; holds online concerts as well as live shows; and teaches budding artists how to start their own creative business from home.

Her teaching passion came from her love for the experience- having played in bands since 18; recorded a full album when in 2011. Her style is considered Indie Folk, playing a mix of covers and originals.

Happy learner :)
"Very pleased with the time I spent with Rachel! She is patient and takes her time when explaining everything! I feel comfortable recommending her services to everyone." -Sarah H.

Patient Teacher
"Rachel is
a great teacher . She is patient with people and explains things so anyone can understand and learn. Rachel loves what she does!" -Maria G.

Rachel does an amazing job preparing each lessons material and uses a variety of media to make the weeks class easily understandable and accessible. Ours are completed online and I find it easy to learn and enjoy regardless of not being conducted in person. Rachel also finds ways to make the lessons fun and enjoyable through interaction. Highly recommended!

I am an experienced guitar teacher. I've recorded and performed my own songs and will help you be able to express yourself in music too. My students are encouraged to be the best they can be. They learn music theory, technique and repertoire.

About Toni
Hi! I'm Teacher Toni and I'm your next music or ESL teacher. I care about my students. I work hard to find out your learning style and teach you how you best learn.

I have an Associates of Fine Arts from Northern VA Community College and a TEFL certificate and a Home Tutor certificate from Tutor in your Home.

I'm a life long musician. Voice is my main instrument but I play piano, guitar, and flute. I have performed in many choirs. And I have judged musicians here in America and in China. Recently I lived in China and taught music and English to students aged 6 to 40. The languages of music and English open many doors the world over.

I have performed all over the world on piano and as a singer/songwriter with the guitar. I write music for Piano, voice and guitar and I'm always looking to learn that next instrument.

It would be my pleasure and honor to introduce you or continue your exploration of music and English.

I am a professor of a university in China. About 4 years ago, my daughter was a student of first grade in a junior school. At that time ,my daughter's English was not good, especially her pronunciation. I was very worry about it. I came to know Toni through some people of a English Corner, and asked her to help me and my daughter. That was the begin of the story of teacher Toni and my family. My daughter went to Toni's home almost every Sunday afternoon. Toni is a very good teacher, and very kind, very Patient to my daughter. Toni improved my daughter's English very quickly, and at same time make her like to learn it. My daughter like Toni very much, and every week had a very pleasant and interesting conversation. Now, my daughter is a student in a foreign language senior school ,and was be voted as a monitor. I am so glad to have met Toni, and helped us. Thanks a lot for Toni's excellent work.

Music and Chord theory. Intervals and Scales. Learning by Ear or Classical Notation. Rhythm, lead, or Bass. Playing with a Band and Songwriting. Recording Demos and more. Always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, or just looking for help with theory and songwriting? My name is Ean and I've been playing guitar and writing music for over 10 years. I've played bass and guitar with multiple groups and have experience teaching beginner students the basics, as well as working with more knowledgeable musicians on mastering theory and advancing their songwriting skills. I am flexible with lesson plans, teaching just what you want to know, and not wasting your time otherwise. With music the key to success is first learning the rules, then knowing and rules, then knowing how to break the rules. Learning music is a complex and ever-expanding challenge. Wherever you are on your musical path, let me help you get to where you want to be.

About Ean
I have over 10 years experience with guitar and have transferred that knowledge to learning bass guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, and multiple other stringed and percussive instruments. I have previously taught guitar and bass lessons in a professional setting for two years at a small, local music shop. Here I worked with beginners on fundamentals, as well as some more experienced players who needed help with their songwriting and band compositions.

I have played around the area with a few groups, accompanying both guitar and bass. I also have been writing and recording my own original music steadily for the past 7 or 8 years. I regularly study music composition, and develop unique learning strategies and techniques for the purpose of removing the fear and confusion over music theory.

My main focus in studying music is learning how parts
of a musical group play together, and developing artistic creativity within my own songwriting. Learning these fundamentals allows the creation of music to become both simplified and creatively open. Music made through theory alone tends to lack emotional satisfaction, and music made through creativity alone lacks form and transferability. With the knowledge of both, music becomes an outlet for personal expression that can be molded and formed at the will of the artist.

This is my main motivation for giving lessons, to make music understood as simple yet infinitely playful. The greatest musical groups in history had all began with just enough understanding to play together and just enough passion to bring their songs and performances to the next level. When both sides of the mind (logic and creativity) come together, something magical happens for both the listeners and performers.

For my personal taste, I find this most often in classic rock. Artists like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and The Grateful Dead just to name a few.
For me, this was the generation where truly timeless music was created and performed. I will often reference the classics and implement their techniques into my lessons. However, If you would prefer any other genre of music I can be flexible. I am a fan of all styles of music!

I always like to keep my lesson plan open and flexible, and always aiming towards greater achievements . Whatever your personal musical goals are, we can work together towards reaching them.
