I started playing guitar at age 10 but had let it go over the past couple decades. Eager to re-learn the instrument, I recently started taking lessons with Jonah Rosenthal and he's fantastic. Exactly the kind of teacher I was looking for - thorough, creative, encouraging, and most important - patient. I can't recommend him highly enough, for someone just starting out on the guitar or a lapsed player like me.

I've been playing guitar (on and off) for over 50 years. I read Jonah's post about 3 months ago and decided to call Jonah for lessons. I had been feeling very rusty and wanted to polish my skills and learn some new songs. I've already learned a lot from Jonah and my guitar playing sounds much better in every way. Jonah has been great to work with, he is easy-going, fun and most importantly, he's a great teacher.

Jonah is a great teacher. He's patient and easy going. I immediately got the feeling that he loves playing the guitar and that spirit is motivating.

Music Production

About Dylan
Hi! My name is Dylan T., aka Dyluxe, and I'm available for in-home, in-studio, and even online music lessons worldwide! I offer tutoring and mentoring on electronic music production with Ableton Live software, Ableton Push Hardware, and other software plug-ins, as well as DJing on the professional standard Rekordbox software with the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus DJ system. All lessons are taught on a one-on-one basis and will be customized to your specific needs. Whatever your knowledge level or ability, I can teach you anything from the basics of electronic music to advanced production, engineering, and mixing techniques. My innovative hybrid curriculum will teach you to both create and perform your own original music. I have a complete in studio set up with all of the premiere tools you will need to achieve your goals. My goal is to help you
expand your knowledge of electronic music and DJing so you can bring your artistic visions to life.

I am an Ableton Certified Music Producer and Graduate of Dubspot Electronic Music School with a degree in DJing and Music Production. I also have a Bachelors Degree from San Diego State University. I am currently a resident DJ for OMNIA San Diego & Hakkasan group as well as an Internationally Touring DJ. I have performed at over 300 nightclubs, music festivals, and events worldwide alongside artists like The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Dillon Francis, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Steve Aoki, & many more.

Aside from my DJ career, I have a ton of experience teaching and working with children. I have always enjoyed teaching people and helping them to reach their goals. I started out at a young age as a babysitter for family friends. In high school, I took a job managing a local skatepark and giving skateboarding lessons. Once I moved to San Diego to attend SDSU, I took a side job as an activity leader for Harmonium, an after school program for elementary school students. During the summers, I also managed and taught skateboarding at the local YMCA Skateboarding Summer Camp.

Anyways, after I started to excel in my music career, friends and acquaintances started reaching out to me for advice and information. Ever since then I have been tutoring, mentoring, and helping my peers learn how to DJ, produce music, book shows, boost their marketing & much much more. I look forward to working with you and helping you to achieve your goals!

Alex was so patient especially because we had some technical difficulties. He didn't have to give us the extra time but he did: appreciate that very much. My son loves him and can't wait until his next lesson. He is very knowledgeable in his field and in a short time my son learned quite a bit. A+!

I produced my newest EP on Ableton and am excited to share everything I've learned. I have read the entire manual, in addition to my own experimentation. I also have the added advantage of helping you understanding basic recording techniques, basic piano or music theory for electronic music, and composing & arranging. Let me know what your goals are, I'm excited to work with you!

About Kaia
Hi! My name is Kaia, I'm passionate about teaching students in the way that makes the most sense to them, & inspiring others to reach their potential. I am a singer-songwriter from Denver with a diverse background and years of teaching experience. I studied classical voice at CU Boulder 2008-2010, and songwriting & commercial music business at CU Denver 2010-2013. Teaching full-time since 2013, I LOVE helping students find their best natural sound and how to use their instrument. My strength is teaching fundamental basics in a way anyone can understand, using a variety of ways of thinking and learning. I encourage students to play & sing when they are interested and try composing their own songs. I've played classical piano 23 years, guitar 16 years, and taken voice lessons for 15 years (plus a degree). I also LOVE arranging & composing
and translating this to Ableton and electronic music! Let me know how I can help you!

I've had to record my own band's albums for years, and have recorded a lot of local bands as well. Mixing and producing has become a huge passion of mine since the first time I learned what a compressor could do. Letting the music shine through while maintaining clarity and punch is an art that I love teaching.

About ryan
Hi, my name is Ryan and I would love to teach you how to play guitar. I've been playing for over 10 years and have been gigging for a little less than that in my band. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience performing on stage and teaching to people of all ages. If you want to shred, jam, or rock out then look no further. I okay all styles of music and pride myself in building a fun and educational curriculum based solely on you or others who have had similar interests as you. This means if you have a question about guitar or music in general, 9 times out of 10 I can answer it. The remaining tenth is either a well kept secret, or something that is left to be found. So if you're ready to start your journey or just need a guide to help you on your way, let's go!

Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!

Learn how to make professional sounding tracks! I prefer hip hop composition, but am also knowledgeable in EDM, indie, RnB, rock, blues, and singer-songwriter style music.

About Jonathan
Are you tired of practicing your instrument with little to no improvement? Don't you wish you could just open your laptop and start making music? You've come to the right place. I have toured with funk and rock bands, I have release multiple CDs and music videos, and am always learning new things about technology and how it relates to music. I'd love to share what I've learned with you!

I started on the piano at age 6, picked up the saxophone at age 10, and have been obsessed with music my entire life. I studied jazz performance in college, but for the past 4 years, I've been focused mainly on electronic music production, mixing, and mastering. To me, it's the most rewarding way to create music. Any sound you're looking for, whether it's a piano, guitar, or some strange synth, can be created to perfection given the right knowledge.

Modern technological tools are revolutionizing the possibilities for musical artists. By learning about music production, you can have the sounds of the orchestra, rock band, and beyond all at your finger tips. I offer instruction in Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and other related plug-ins software and hardware equipment.

Depending on your goals, music production lessons can include instruction on synthesis, realistic sounding manipulation of samplers, recording, mixing and mastering. If these terms sound like Greek to you, that's fine too! All that is required for music production lessons, is an interest in creating music with a computer and other pieces of music technology.

I also offer lessons in composition, music theory, arranging, and piano performance. These subjects may also be included, if applicable. On the first lesson with a new student, I'll always go over the options for potential areas of study and work with the student to develop an appropriate course of study ...
